53: Fortunate
Leticia's words were inexplicably reasonable.
"Even if you humans knew I lived here, no one would dare come provoke me." Leticia shrugged indifferently. "If I hadn't encountered you, this bastard, my little life would have been quite comfortable."
She had stayed here for so long—wasn't her life peaceful enough before Bai Ling came?
Although she went out less frequently, she had gone out after all, and after going out, no one could recognize her. This already explained some things.
"Your identity forgery is very perfect."
"Of course, I'm the extraordinarily wise Demon King. This kind of small matter takes no effort at all!" Leticia puffed out her nonexistent chest and said quite proudly.
"It should be Miss Xue'er's handiwork." Bai Ling didn't give Leticia any face at all. She was quite clear that with Leticia's capabilities, she absolutely couldn't achieve such good disguise.
All of this should be the work of Xue'er, this practically omnipotent maid.
The named Xue'er smiled bashfully. "Miss Bai Ling is too kind."
See, she acquiesced.
While speaking, Bai Ling had already eaten all the bread Xue'er brought clean. This eating speed made even Leticia exclaim "freak" when she saw it.
"I feel like the word 'pig' can no longer describe you." Leticia looked at the small half of noodles remaining in front of her and said quietly.
From when Bai Ling started eating to when she finished that large piece of bread, only less than three minutes had passed, and during this time Bai Ling had even argued with Leticia a few times.
This showed that Bai Ling's eating speed could only be described as terrifying.
After finishing breakfast, Bai Ling stood up, planning to go home and wait for her sister to wake up.
"You're just patting your butt and leaving like that? Not even a word of thanks for the hospitality?" Leticia felt quite displeased about this. This Bai Ling ran to her house early in the morning to freeload food, then slipped away without a word after eating—what kind of human scum was this?
"Oh, thanks for the hospitality." Bai Ling went with the flow and nodded toward Xue'er nearby.
Leticia bristled. What did Bai Ling mean by this? Was she looking down on her?
"I'm the boss of this house! You should say thank you to me!"
"Breakfast was prepared for me by Miss Xue'er. Leticia, you were just sitting there eating." Bai Ling explained seriously. "So I'm thanking Miss Xue'er."
"Aha ha ha." Xue'er's expression was somewhat awkward. She glanced at Leticia who was about to explode and quickly said to Bai Ling, "Xue'er only follows Her Majesty's orders. If Miss Bai Ling wants to thank someone, please thank Her Majesty."
"Is that so?"
"Yes."
"Then alright, Leticia, thank you for your hospitality." Only then did Bai Ling look at Leticia, with no sincerity whatsoever in her words.
Could such thanks satisfy Leticia?
Of course... it could.
"Mm-hmm, go on, go on. Don't come here if there's nothing wrong." Leticia, who had just been on the edge of anger, now showed a smile. She magnanimously waved her hand, indicating Bai Ling should scram as far as possible.
Demon King-sama's face changed faster than summer skies.
"The clothes should arrive this afternoon. I'll come call you." Bai Ling forced out a smile with great effort. "Don't run away."
Bai Ling's smile, which looked worse than crying, really left Leticia unable to complain. Demon King-sama felt she had still underestimated the degree of Bai Ling's facial paralysis.
Look at this face—it should be quite beautiful when smiling, but under Bai Ling's operation, it became as ugly as monsters from the world's edge.
"Forget it. Your smile is worse than not smiling. Originally you could still count as an ice beauty, but now you're just a female ghost."
"Is it that ugly?" Bai Ling rubbed her face, smoothing out the smile she had managed to produce with great difficulty.
"Deliberately forced smiles never look good no matter what. Miss Bai Ling doesn't need to try so hard." Xue'er agreed with Leticia's assessment—Bai Ling's smile just now was indeed a bit scary.
Sword Saint-sama sighed. Indeed, she still had some minor problems with expression management.
Whatever, this kind of small matter could be discussed later.
"I'm leaving first."
"Won't see you off."
Only after Bai Ling left did Leticia pick up the noodle bowl with little remaining in front of her and boldly drink all the remaining soup in one gulp.
"Hah, comfortable." Placing the empty bowl on the table, Leticia let out a small satisfied burp.
Actually, her eating manners weren't much better either.
"Sigh, Xue'er, I'm increasingly wanting to move." Propping her chin up, Leticia's gaze wandered around the room.
She had originally thought being neighbors with Bai Ling wasn't something unacceptable, but now she felt her previous self was really too naive.
This Bai Ling was like a piece of chewing gum—once stuck on, it couldn't be shaken off.
Coming over to freeload meals from time to time was simply annoying as hell to Leticia. They clearly had a life-and-death relationship, so why was this Bai Ling so unreasonable?
She just wanted to live a peaceful life. Wouldn't it be wonderful if she and Bai Ling minded their own business?
"Do you need me to start looking for a new place to live now?" Xue'er expressed understanding for Leticia's complaints.
Bai Ling was indeed somewhat unreasonable. It was already surprising to Xue'er that Leticia was only now unable to bear it.
She had originally thought Leticia could only last a few days, but unexpectedly she lasted a whole week. Truly cause for celebration.
"Look around first. Best would be a place similar to here." Leticia nodded. If Bai Ling became worse, moving would have to be put on the agenda.
Having a Sword Saint living here would definitely attract other people's attention, especially since this Bai Ling seemed to have a constitution that naturally attracted trouble.
Look—it had only been a few days, and already a demon had come over.
Today it was a demon, tomorrow an orc might come, the day after an elf might run over, and finally even Qila might be able to find this place?
If caught by Qila, Leticia would have no good days ahead.
"Speaking of which, Xue'er, do you have any news about Qila?"
"I haven't been able to find any information about Princess-sama yet. She's being very careful." Xue'er shook her head. "Unless we contact the Demon Realm..."
"That would be walking into a trap. Do your best to find her, but if you can't, forget it." Leticia immediately indicated they absolutely couldn't communicate with the Demon Realm. She had put in great effort to avoid those people's eyes and ears when escaping.
If Xue'er established communication channels with them, those guys might find their way here.
One Bai Ling was already enough to give Leticia headaches. If a few more old men came, she might explode on the spot.
So absolutely not.
"Not finding her is also good—at least it means Qila isn't in this area."
