87: Xue'er's Little Thoughts
"I have a premonition that we'll meet the Guild Leader again today." Watching the Guild Leader duo disappear into the bustling crowd, Leticia muttered to herself with a hint of an eerie smile.
Being in such a hurry, they must have received some news, right?
Like certain two organizations planning to trade something on the street where they had their accident last time.
"Mm, I just asked One-Eyed Dragon. She said the preparations are complete and everything is proceeding according to plan." Bai Ling put down her phone, her expression becoming serious.
"Let's go. Time to change clothes and have a chat with my dear sister." Leticia stretched lazily, her voice showing no hint of nervousness.
After all, she was quite confident in her abilities. No matter what she did, nothing would go wrong—how could she be nervous?
The place to change clothes had been decided long ago—in a nearby hotel. Leticia and Bai Ling had Xue'er book a double room at noon and put the clothes needed for the operation there.
Arriving at the hotel and entering the room, Leticia nodded with satisfaction.
It seemed everything was going smoothly.
Of course, there was one more person in the room.
"Xue'er?"
Xue'er, sitting cross-legged on a single bed, smiled and looked up. "Does Your Majesty have any questions?"
"Nothing, just wondering why Xue'er is here." Leticia shook her head. She had thought only she and Bai Ling would be here.
She hadn't expected Xue'er to be here too.
"Naturally to provide some necessary technical support for you both. We can't have you personally worry about everything." Xue'er pointed to the thin laptop on her lap and explained. "Sometimes, my intelligence is much more accurate than official sources."
"For example, our Parliament Member also plans to get a piece of this doomed transaction. Your Majesty, please be careful when leaving the scene."
"That kind of scum isn't worth worrying about." Leticia put on the large white robe, indicating she completely didn't need to worry about Xue'er's warning.
"It's always better to be careful." Xue'er put down the computer and got off the bed.
Coming to Leticia's side, the maid returned to her old trade, arranging her Majesty's appearance.
Just throwing the robe over her body wouldn't do—it was neither comfortable nor aesthetically pleasing.
"Isn't this unnecessarily troublesome?" Leticia, once again being used as a mannequin by Xue'er, said with a pout.
Xue'er was already used to Leticia's complaints. From when she was chosen to become Leticia's maid until now, she had heard such complaints countless times.
Before long, Xue'er completed her work. Fastening the last button on the robe, she clapped her hands, quite satisfied with her results.
"It looks quite nice..." Looking at the girl in the mirror who had almost completely changed appearance, Leticia was also surprised.
Xue'er's craftsmanship was as good as ever.
"But this hair clip can be removed, right?"
"No, we left in a hurry and didn't bring extra replacements." Xue'er shook her head. "As long as you don't remove the hood, Princess Qila won't notice."
"Really?" Leticia was somewhat doubtful.
Who was Xue'er? Anyone could be careless, but not this maid.
"Naturally it's true." Xue'er lowered her eyes and answered as usual.
She who was deceiving Her Majesty was truly sinfully wicked.
Xue'er admitted she had deliberately not brought replacement hair clips.
In her heart, she still hoped Princess Qila and Her Majesty could recognize each other soon. Such a huge demon race surely couldn't have only her knowing Leticia's whereabouts.
If there was one person in the demon race who could control Leticia, that person would definitely be Qila.
"Actually, if Your Majesty and Princess Qila recognized each other..."
"No way, no way. If she knew what I've been doing these years, I really couldn't live anymore." Leticia immediately interrupted Xue'er's words.
My sister has grown up and doesn't listen anymore.
Surely I can't still hang my sister from a tree and beat her like before, right?
Even if Qila agreed, Leticia couldn't bear it.
That was out of necessity before. The current Leticia really couldn't harden her heart, or rather, her heart could no longer harden.
"What time is it now?"
"Seven forty. The transaction time is eight o'clock sharp. Leaving now would be perfect timing." Xue'er sighed and answered.
"Then let's go. Can't keep Qila waiting too long." Leticia picked up the final piece of this outfit—a white mask—and put it on her face.
Bai Ling, who had already finished dressing, nodded silently. The red eyes under the black mask lingered on Xue'er for a moment, then looked away.
Xue'er knew Bai Ling had probably guessed her thoughts. This girl looked silly and foolish, but inside, she was very clever.
"Sigh, troublesome, so troublesome." Leticia sighed and opened the window. "By the way, don't we have any long-distance communication equipment?"
"I have some." Bai Ling pointed to her ears and said flatly.
"Insufficient budget." Xue'er showed an awkward but polite smile. "Cell phones can make do."
This was so unprofessional!
"Once you're at the scene, Your Majesty can just improvise. The script has been arranged. Following the steps one by one, there shouldn't be any major problems." Xue'er added.
Problems? Where would there be problems?
Or rather, having problems would be the best thing possible.
Such unprofessional preparation made Leticia feel an ominous premonition.
If—and she meant if—she accidentally had her identity seen through by Qila, what should she do?
"Relax. Qila already suspects you. Her knowing your identity is just a matter of time." Bai Ling patted Leticia's shoulder, saying words that didn't sound like comfort at all.
"This is all your fault, and you still have the nerve to say that!" As soon as this was mentioned, Leticia flew into a rage. If Bai Ling hadn't come to borrow glasses from her, would she have been exposed so quickly?
Bai Ling looked away somewhat guiltily. "I can help you hold back Qila. Trust me."
"You think I'll forgive you just because you say that? I'm telling you, impossible!" Leticia said viciously through gritted teeth. "I'll remember this grudge for life!"
Compared to accepting Bai Ling's help and having Bai Ling help her hold back Qila, Leticia even felt that recognizing each other with Qila would be easier to accept.
Perhaps this was her meaningless pride at work.
"Hah, it's getting late. Let's go." The Demon King's anger was like summer showers—coming fast and going fast. Before long, she had adjusted her emotions.
"Well then, wishing you both complete success~"
