89: Failed Escape
"Really? Look into my eyes and repeat what you just said." Qila stared at Leticia's black eyes hidden under the hood, saying with unquestionable authority. "Do you dare, sister?"
Leticia looked away somewhat guiltily. She couldn't lie under Qila's intense gaze.
This was her greatest weakness.
"So you're not denying it?" Qila laughed softly, but quickly adjusted her emotions. This was the first time she'd seen her sister so flustered—it was inevitable she'd lose some composure.
For relatives to meet, especially relatives who had been missing for so long, it was quite difficult for Qila to control her excited feelings.
"Although I'd like to ask about many things, could sister first tell me Sister Bai Ling's true identity?"
A human who could partner with her sister couldn't possibly be ordinary.
"Ah, this..." Leticia looked toward Bai Ling, her eyes full of helplessness. She hadn't expected to be exposed so quickly.
That slip of the tongue had completely ruined her entire day's planning.
"Her friend, nothing more." Bai Ling showed contempt for Leticia's rapid failure. She had thought Leticia could act longer, but after just a few sentences, she was seen through by Qila.
Miss Demon King wasn't good at acting.
"That matter—it doesn't matter if sister knows, but Sister Bai Ling is human." Qila said very seriously to Bai Ling, her attitude very firm. "But I already know where sister lives. If we can't talk here, we can talk tomorrow."
"Qila, first give me some mental preparation. Is this thing very troublesome?" Knowing she couldn't continue the act, Leticia was too lazy to disguise her voice anymore. "If it's very troublesome, I should pack my bags and flee overnight."
Hearing the voice that belonged to her sister, a flash of nostalgia passed through Qila's eyes. After so many years, her sister's voice was still the same.
As for fleeing? Qila indicated that since she had found Leticia, she absolutely wouldn't let Leticia escape again.
"Of course it's not troublesome. Really speaking, it's actually very simple." Qila said to Leticia with a face full of smiles. "Really, really very simple."
This little devil-like smile made Leticia's heart tighten. Her intuition told her Qila was lying—whatever this book involved was definitely big trouble.
"Trust me, sister. How could Qila lie to sister?"
No, I feel like you're definitely lying to me! Leticia shouted in her heart.
"You two hurry up. Someone's coming this way." While the two sisters were exchanging feelings, Bai Ling noticed several somewhat unfamiliar auras rapidly approaching.
One-Eyed Dragon's voice came through the earpiece: "Tsk, Little Bai, you guys retreat quickly. Some impatient heroes from the Hero Association came directly."
"Wasn't it agreed that no one would enter until the time was up?" Bai Ling frowned slightly.
"But there are always some fools who don't know their place and get deceived by petty people. I can't control those kinds of people either." Looking at the heroes rapidly approaching the trading location in the surveillance footage, One-Eyed Dragon sighed.
The Hero Association's management ability over powerful heroes was really not praiseworthy.
Besides, she was a civil servant of the United Government—she couldn't control these overly energetic heroes.
"How many came? What's their strength?"
"Four, all S-level, but relatively low-ranked."
"Mm." Bai Ling nodded, then shouted to Leticia on the other side: "Little Black, time to go."
"Little Black? When did sister get such a perfunctory name?" Qila tilted her head and asked somewhat puzzledly.
"You dead girl, don't ask about things you shouldn't ask." Completely giving up, Leticia directly gave Qila a loving tap from her big sister. "Bai, how many came?"
Qila covered her little head, tears glistening in her eyes. "Bad sister!"
Unfortunately, her words were covered by Bai Ling's response.
"Four, S-level, almost here." Bai Ling looked toward the direction those auras were coming from. "Should I go deal with them?"
If it was just four S-levels, dealing with them wouldn't take much effort.
"Sister Bai Ling's strength really is terrifying." Hearing Bai Ling's matter-of-fact words, Qila, who had already wiped away her tears, twitched at the corners of her eyes.
Four S-level heroes weren't just cabbages. Even Four Heavenly Kings-level powerhouses would need some effort to deal with them.
But Bai Ling's plain tone gave the impression that defeating these four S-levels was as simple as drinking water.
This strength was quite thought-provoking.
"She's even more formidable than you imagine." Leticia sighed. "Forget it, no need to fight here. Let's escape."
She turned around, but her hand was gently grasped by Qila.
"Qila?"
"I won't let sister escape again." Qila stared at Leticia, saying each word clearly.
She was afraid her sister would disappear again. Having finally found her sister, how could she let go?
"Now isn't the time to throw a tantrum, Qila. Hurry and let go." Sensing the auras getting closer and closer, Leticia hurriedly persuaded. "I promise I won't run this time, okay?"
Only in front of her sister would Leticia act so submissively.
But Qila's attitude was very firm: "Even if I get hung from a tree by sister later, I won't let sister leave my sight again."
You dead girl still hold grudges, huh!
"Don't you know where I live? Can't you come find me tomorrow?"
"Sister Xue'er is very capable. I'm afraid what I found wasn't sister's real residence, and one night is enough for sister to escape." Qila shook her head. Back then, sister's escape time was even less than ten minutes. One night was enough for Leticia to flee to other worlds.
"Too late to run." Bai Ling sighed. With Qila's delay, Leticia's plan had completely fallen through. What was supposed to be an escape had now become a direct confrontation.
Swoosh swoosh swoosh swoosh—four heroes in different attire leaped down from the sky. They almost instantly focused their attention on the solitary Bai Ling.
Black clothes, briefcase, and over there was a white-clad person pulling and tugging with a black-haired little girl.
This should be the action target.
"Sigh." Seeing those four heroes, Leticia also sighed. "Plan completely failed."
"Sister was never cut out for scheming." Qila still had the mood to joke. "But even if I'm hanging on sister, sister can easily defeat these people, right?"
"Stinky girl, you'll get yours later." Seeing that Qila had absolutely no intention of letting go, Leticia glared fiercely at her sister.
"Hmph?" Qila glared back without courtesy. "I haven't settled accounts with sister for dropping such a heavy burden and running away."
