Ceres PoV
I got punched back, Valefar bolting towards me, launching a spinning kick that I blocked with my forearm, but I was still launched, slamming through buildings, collapsing them.
I got up, ready to fight more, but then I heard screams and saw a child trying to shovel the ground.
I rushed forward, and lifted up the rubble, letting the mother of the child crawl out, her leg was broken, but she would li-
Valefar kicked me away then smiled, aiming a bloodcurdle… at them, I slammed into the mother and child, knocking them away.
The mother’s arm broke, but she was out of the blast, but I wasn’t.
The hole opened in my torso and ripped out past my cloak, and I vomited out blood before slamming into him and swinging him far harder and launching the worm into a tower.
The clocktower he slammed into began to collapse as I leapt roof to roof and launched him through the collapsing wall.
Then, I threw him up and leapt after him, pulling out a hammer, and slamming it into him, as he summoned a scythe made of cursed power, Death’s attendant.
We clashed which created a shockwave as Valefar smiled.
“You’re too merciful, you’re too kind, and that is exactly… exactly how I will kill you.”
I pushed harder, but the ghosts from his curse slammed into me, launching me towards the ground.
As I fell, he sent hounds of fate after me, so I shifted the crown into claws and ripped the balls of condensed fire apart.
But, another Bloodcurdle was launched as Valefar slammed into me, and I took it, unable to dodge as I fell.
We crashed into the market, a crater forming.
Valefar leapt up and distributed a field of cleansing fire, the merchants that survived the initial crash began to burn, so I unleashed a pulse of divine blizzard then leapt moving as many out of the way of the fire as I could, but I had to take some of it myself.
As I was helping one merchant, Valefar grabbed me, and ripped the merchant from my hands so fast the merchant’s body tore, then threw me through the city, until I slammed into the wall on the other side of the city.
And he met me there,
“You keep, on failing… You can’t even save regular people.
Life and death, that is your crown, right?
Then why do you keep failing!” then he grabbed and threw me to the other side of the city.
… he was right… many people die even as I crash through these buildings… but, I can’t let more die.
So, I formed the red crown back into claws, and spread out, slowing me down, until I stopped, and, with a pulse, launched back at Valefar, clawing, but then, he shifted into the Primal form, a long, twisting worm.
Valefar had long antlers and three pitch black eyes.
His red fur was slick and smooth, almost like he didn’t have fur.
His mouth was a straight circle, with teeth and a seemingly endless pit.
He coiled and launched at me, burrowing into the ground and launching up, grabbing my leg and swinging me into the ground, then around and into another house.
I pulled out my sword and cut deeply into the ground, a shockwave forming… a shockwave…
I pulled out the claws and spun at maximum speed, the wind beginning to bend around me, and it began to intensify before Valefar began to rip from the ground. Enjoying the story? Read on at novelping(.)com.
But… someone else was pulled in, I reversed my movement to cut the wind and slow the wind and caught the guard before bracing, using my fleece to block the pressure and bolted to the gate.
“Get everyone out of the city, full evacuation.”
“Y-you’re the lamb!!”
“Yeah, now,” I twisted and blocked Valefar, shielding the guard from his slash, and cutting into my shoulder.
“GO!”
The guard nodded and ran off, but when Valefar bolted after him, I grabbed his tail and spun him.
“You went primal to outspeed me… all you did was make yourself a bigger target, Valefar!”
I threw him and bolted after him, the red crown morphing into a blunderbuss, and blasting him, making Valefar roar in pain, before adjusting mid-air and whipping me with his tail.
Then, he spit a fire blast, which I blocked with my wool, then I shot and morphed my crown into the hammer, and slammed it into him, making the primal form break, and we went into a free fall from the sky.
He launched fire and curses simultaneously, his composure broken, but I simply sped up, focused on increasing my momentum.
He panicked and began launching repeatedly, sending fire into the whole in my stomach, sending bloodcurdles into my side.
Hole after hole formed in my body, but then we slammed into the ground and I slammed my hammer down, simultaneously.
Valefar was barely alive, he coughed.
“…
mercy…”
“…
Mercy?
Mercy?!
After all you have done?!
You killed thousands of innocents with the sheer purpose of angering me, and now you ask for mercy?!!”
“…
I know you won’t kill me…”
I stared at him… “And… why… wouldn’t I?”
“Because you’re afraid of being just like me… So, come on… take me to your cult, like Amdusias.”
I shook, “I won’t do that.”
He barked in laughter, clear pain in all of his features.
“Because you won’t kill me, I know that… and I also know, you can’t let me free either.”
He was right… I hate that he was right… I hate this…
I grabbed him, and slung him over my good shoulder, and hobbled…
People watched me, the guard managed to get a lot of the people out… but only a thousand… maximum… for the second largest city in Darkwood… … there was far too much death today…
… I looked among them… I couldn’t see the mother or her child…
The guard came up to me, “Lamb… I don’t know how to say this… none of us would’ve survived without you… thank you…”
I couldn’t speak, I did not expect that at all.
“And, what will you do with Valefar?”
“…
I will not let him hurt others again.”
I continued hobbling as the survivors began mending themselves.
I wandered… tired, and hurt… Valefar had fallen unconscious, and do be honest, I wanted to as well… but the forest was dangerous at night… that would be way to big a risk…
My injuries had already begun healing, benefits of being an avatar I suppose…
I walked further, and closer to the camp…
I needed to move fast to get there before I passed out, so I bolted, as fast as I could, before I doubled over, rolling, Valefar’s unconscious body flopping into a tree… but I saw the star in the distant… that sweet sweet red star..
I… I hobbled…
I got… closer… closer…
There was a panic, I rushed in, and dropped Valefar on the grass.
Gethel saw me and passed out, a goat thing.
“What happened?!”
Amdusias ran up, “Ceres, we need to… goodness you need to get patched up… Right, something is happening with Caleb… is that Valefar?”
“He pulled the same move you did…”
“…
Yeah, that’s fair…”
“Now, what is this about Caleb?”
“We will handle that, you, on the other hand, sleep.
That way you can regenerate properly… listen, I will see if that worm will… live… though I wouldn’t mind if he doesn’t, but as for you… sleep.”
“I need to check Caleb.”
“Do so tomorrow, would you rather he sees you like this?”
“Oh, he’s awake?”
“Yes… perhaps a little too much, but if he sees you in his already unstable state, I can only imagine what would happen… Now sleep… while you’re safe.”
“…
Ok…” I collapsed right there.
