Chapter 3: The System

The Legendary Dungeon Master

"Testing yourself?! You almost died!"

Arin looked at the young woman.

"But I didn’t."

She stared at him.

For a moment, neither of them spoke.

Then she grabbed his arm.

"Come with me."

"Where?"

"The healer."

"I’m fine."

"You have blood on your arm."

Arin looked down.

There was a small cut on his arm.

"That’s nothing."

"Just come."

She pulled him toward the village.

Arin followed.

His eyes kept moving toward the blue window that had appeared earlier.

The System.

It had shown him a message after he killed the first goblin.

Then another after the Elite Goblin.

But now there was nothing.

Arin wondered if he could call it again.

He thought about the word.

Status.

Nothing happened.

"Status."

Still nothing.

The young woman looked at him.

"What are you doing?"

"Nothing."

Arin looked away.

He tried again.

Status.

A blue window appeared.

Arin almost stopped walking.

It floated in front of him.

No one else seemed to notice it.

His eyes widened.

"So it works."

He looked at the window.

[Status]

Name: Arin Rahman

Strength: 8

Agility: 7

Vitality: 8

Mana: 5

Skills:

Basic Swordsmanship Lv.1

Arin stared at it.

"So this is my status."

He moved his hand toward the window.

His finger passed through it.

Then he tried dragging it to the side.

The window moved.

Arin’s eyes widened.

"I can move it."

He swiped his finger across the screen.

The Status window changed.

[Skills]

Basic Swordsmanship Lv.1

A simple sword skill learned through basic training.

Arin nodded.

"So I really do have a skill."

He swiped again.

[Titles]

None

Another swipe.

[Information]

System User: Arin Rahman

System functions are currently limited.

Arin frowned.

"Limited?"

He touched the message.

Nothing happened.

He tried swiping again.

Nothing.

"That’s all?"

The System remained silent.

Arin frowned.

He looked back at the Status window.

"Can I increase my stats?"

No response.

"Can I get stronger by leveling up?"

Nothing.

"Can I learn more skills?"

Nothing.

Arin sighed.

"So it only shows information."

For now, that was enough.

He had spent years working on Earth without seeing any real change in his life.

Now he had another chance.

And this world had a way to measure his growth.

That alone was exciting.

Arin closed the Status window.

The young woman looked at him again.

"Are you sure you’re okay?"

"Yes."

"You’ve been staring into the air for the last minute."

Arin paused.

"Can you see anything?"

She looked around.

"No."

"Good."

She frowned.

"Why?"

"Nothing."

They continued walking.

Arin looked back toward the battlefield.

The soldiers were still cleaning up the dead goblins.

Several bodies had already been carried away.

The Elite Goblin was lying near the gate.

Arin suddenly remembered the notification.

[Elite Goblin Defeated.]

He wondered if the System had given him something else.

He opened the Status again.

Nothing.

He swiped through the panels.

Nothing new.

Then he noticed a small symbol in the corner.

A golden box.

Arin touched it.

A new window appeared.

[Beginner’s Gift]

Reward: Available

Arin’s eyes widened.

"A reward?"

He touched the word.

[Beginner’s Gift]

Would you like to open it?

Arin smiled.

"Yes."

The window changed.

[Opening Beginner’s Gift...]

[Congratulations!]

[You have received: Dungeon Master’s Mark.]

Arin froze.

"Dungeon Master’s Mark?"

A strange warmth spread through his right hand.

He looked down.

A black symbol had appeared on the back of his hand.

It looked like a circle surrounded by strange lines.

Arin touched it.

"What is this?"

No answer came.

He opened the System again.

[Dungeon Master’s Mark]

Description: A special mark connected to dungeons.

Current Status: Locked.

Requirement: Level 10.

Arin stared at the last line.

"Level 10?"

He checked his Status again.

Level: 3

He sighed.

"I still have a long way to go."

The young woman stopped walking.

"Arin."

He looked up.

"What?"

"We’re here."

They had reached a small building near the center of the village.

A wooden sign hung above the door.

Village Healer.

The woman opened the door.

"Come inside."

Arin walked in.

An old man looked up from a table.

His eyes moved to Arin’s bloody arm.

"Another injured adventurer?"

"I’m fine," Arin said.

The old man snorted.

"Everyone says that until they collapse."

He pointed at a chair.

"Sit."

Arin sat down.

The healer examined his wound.

"It isn’t serious."

"I told you."

The young woman crossed her arms.

"You still needed to get it checked."

Arin smiled.

"Thank you."

The healer placed his hand over the wound.

A soft green light appeared.

Arin watched closely.

"Magic?"

The healer looked at him.

"Of course."

Arin’s eyes widened.

He had seen magic before through the body’s memories.

But seeing it with his own eyes was different.

The wound slowly closed.

Arin stared at his arm.

"This world really has everything."

The healer raised an eyebrow.

"What?"

"Nothing."

The healer finished healing him.

"You should rest."

Arin stood.

"I’ll be fine."

The young woman immediately said,

"No fighting."

Arin looked at her.

"I wasn’t going to fight."

She gave him a doubtful look.

Arin looked toward the window.

Beyond the village wall, the forest was visible.

And somewhere inside that forest was the dungeon. The memories remembered.

Arin’s eyes narrowed.

He wanted to enter it.

But Level 3 wasn’t enough.

He needed to become stronger first.

He looked at the mark on his hand.

Level 10.

That was his first goal.

Arin smiled.

"Maybe I’ll become an adventurer after all."

The young woman looked surprised.

"You mean you don’t want to?"

Arin looked at her.

"I do."

He looked toward the dungeon again.

"I just want to become a strong one."

Outside, the village slowly returned to normal.

But Arin’s new life was only beginning.

And for the first time since his transmigration, he had a clear goal.

Reach Level 10.
