Chapter 7:Dangerous Dungeon ll

The Legendary Dungeon Master

Arin ran. His feet pounded against the stone floor of the tunnel. Behind him, the monster roared

ROAAAAAR!

Arin turned to look. The giant lizard was right behind him. "Too fast!" He turned to face forward and a giant claw shot past him, striking the stone wall.

BOOM!

Rock and debris scattered across the tunnel as Arin ducked. "That was close!" He ran forward, his feet slapping against the stone floor. The tunnel opened up into two directions, left and right. Arin didn’t stop to think. "Left!" He turned to the left and the monster followed. Arin ran deeper into the dungeon. His breath came in short gasps and his wounded body ached. "I can’t keep this up..." The monster roared again.

Arin looked ahead and saw that the tunnel was getting narrower. He had an idea. "If it’s too big to fit..." Arin sped up and the monster chased him. He reached the narrow part of the tunnel and squeezed past it. The monster slammed into the opening, knocking the stone debris loose from the ceiling.

BOOM!

The whole tunnel shook as Arin stopped. He turned to look at the monster. It was trying to push its way through the opening but it was too big. Arin smiled. "You’re too big." The monster roared, its claws digging into the stone.

BOOM!

Arin’s smile disappeared. "Or maybe not." Arin ran again as the monster pushed itself through the opening. He turned a corner and ran down another tunnel. He had no idea where he was, but it didn’t matter. After a few minutes, the sound of the monster chasing him stopped. Arin stopped running and leaned against the wall. "Did I lose it?" He listened. Nothing. Arin let out a sigh of relief. "Thank goodness." He slowly slid down the wall, his body aching. He opened his Status.

Arin looked at his EXP

"I’m close."

Only 38 more experience points and he’d be level 5. He closed the status window and suddenly heard a scratching noise. Arin looked up. He slowly got to his feet, his sword in his hand. Something was crawling along the ceiling. Arin’s eyes widened. It was a spider, but it was HUGE! Its body was as big as a dog’s. "Seriously?" The spider dropped to the floor and Arin jumped back.

Its legs flew past his head as he brought his sword up. He slashed one of the spider’s legs off and it let out a screech.

It jumped at him but Arin blocked its attack. The force pushed him back. "Strong!" The spider opened its mouth and fired a web at him. Arin jumped to the side and the web stuck to the wall, smoking. Arin looked at the wall. "Poison web?" He quickly moved away as the spider charged at him. Arin waited for it to get close and then he moved to the side. His sword went through the spider’s body.

Arin looked at the message and another one appeared

[Level Up!]

Arin smiled "Yes!" Warmth spread through his body as he leveled up. The pain in his wounds didn’t go away, but he felt stronger. He opened his status.

Arin looked at his new status. "Not bad."

He closed the window and looked at the dead spider. "At least you’re useful." He searched the spider’s body and found a small blue stone inside of it. Arin picked it up. "A magic stone?" Arin put the stone in his bag and looked around. The tunnel stretched on ahead of him. He walked forward and a few minutes later, he found a large door. It was made of black stone and strange markings were carved into it.

Arin touched the door. Nothing happened. He pushed on the door and it opened, revealing a huge room. Arin walked into the room and looked around. He walked forward and suddenly noticed some bones on the floor. Human bones. Arin stopped walking and his expression darkened. "Someone died here." He looked around and saw more bones. There were dozens of them, some with broken weapons laying next to them.

Arin swallowed hard. "How many adventurers came this far?" He walked forward and saw a metal badge next to one of the skeletons. Arin picked up the badge and looked at the emblem carved into it. He didn’t recognize the emblem. He looked at the badge. "What is this?" He put the badge in his bag and suddenly heard a growling. Arin turned around slowly. Two red eyes appeared at the far end of the room and then more red eyes. Arin’s heart pounded in his chest. More monsters were coming. They weren’t wolves or spiders. They wore armor and carried swords and shields. Arin’s grip tightened on his sword. "Goblins?"

One of the goblins stepped forward. It looked at Arin and then raised its sword. The other goblins followed its example. Arin took a step back. "There are too many of them." The goblins charged and Arin raised his sword. The first goblin swung its blade but Arin blocked it. Another goblin jumped at him but he dodged. A third goblin struck Arin’s side, sending him falling. "Ow!" Arin brought his sword up and cut off one of the goblin’s heads

[Monster Defeated.]

But three more goblins took its place. Arin backed up, his breathing coming in short gasps. He could barely fight them all off. He looked at the door and then the other end of the room. There was another tunnel. "If I can get to that..." Arin blocked one goblin’s attack and dodged another. He kicked one goblin in the chest and sent it flying. He ran forward and the goblins chased him. Arin reached the tunnel and ducked inside. He turned to look at the other end of the tunnel and saw that it was dark. Behind him, the goblins were coming.

Arin looked at the dark tunnel. "Which is worse?" The goblins ran into the tunnel and Arin gripped his sword. "Only one way to find out." He ran into the tunnel and the goblins followed him. After a few seconds, Arin heard a noise coming from behind them.

A ROAR

It wasn’t the sound of a goblin or a wolf. It was something bigger. The goblins stopped running and looked back. Horror crossed their faces. Arin looked at the goblins. "Why are they scared?" The roar came again and the whole dungeon shook. The goblins suddenly ran past Arin. They didn’t attack him. They were running away Arin looked at them. "Wait." The goblins disappeared into the darkness. Arin turned around and looked at the tunnel. Something was coming. Arin’s grip tightened on his sword. "You’re kidding me..." The shadow grew bigger and two glowing eyes appeared. Then a giant ROAR echoed through the tunnel. Arin stood his ground as the monster came closer. This time, there was no place to run.
