11 – Chapter 11
Tao Tao is still young.
The others didn’t hear their conversation, but Duan Zheng, standing nearby, vaguely caught some of it.
He remembered coming with the young master today to apprehend someone, arriving with such imposing momentum it felt like a mob boss coming to wipe out a family.
But now, seeing this mob boss kneeling before a young girl, clinging to her foot and refusing to let go, acting like a creep…
It was speechless! And somewhat embarrassing!
Moreover, with an iron gate separating them, it looked like a prison visit—bizarre, utterly bizarre!
Old Master Lin trembled with rage at the sight, his mustache quivering. This Duan Yuan was truly audacious! How could he dare tease Tao Tao like this right in front of an elder?
Yet, observing his granddaughter’s reaction, he refrained from intervening immediately.
If he wasn’t mistaken, Tao Tao seemed to have a hint of a smile on her face, carefree and untroubled. He couldn’t bear to disrupt that.
Lately, the old man had noticed changes in his granddaughter. Though she appeared more mature and assertive, like a little adult, it pained him.
Because it meant Tao Tao had endured more suffering and unhappiness, forcing herself to grow stronger to protect herself. He felt he had failed as a grandfather…
However, Tao Tao also seemed livelier than before, which he was glad to see…
“Sister!” Suddenly, an affected voice rang out—it was Lin Jinyi, who had been completely ignored. “Sister, if you like Young Master Duan, please stop entangling yourself with Brother Sicheng, alright? It would be better for everyone!”
Lin Jinyi’s heart was truly dark. While she wanted A Tao and Duan Yuan to be together, she couldn’t stand them getting along harmoniously.
So she deliberately interjected, making sure Duan Yuan knew her “dear sister” was involved with another man—implying that marrying her would mean wearing a green hat!
After saying this, she was curious about how Duan Yuan would react.
Sure enough, the next second, she saw the corners of Duan Yuan’s mouth turn downward—clearly, he was angry!
Duan Yuan was indeed displeased. He rubbed A Tao’s foot, his grip tightening. “That guy with the surname Ji is pestering you?”
“Yes, he’s quite annoying, but I’ll handle it myself. Don’t worry about me.” A Tao suddenly reached out and pinched Duan Yuan’s cheek. “But you—I saw you coughing up blood that day. You should take better care of yourself.”
At this, the moody man’s face brightened again. Right then and there, he lifted A Tao’s foot, regardless of cleanliness, and kissed it.
Silence fell all around.
Old Master Lin couldn’t hold back any longer. “Young Master Duan? What do you think you’re doing?!”
“I’m here to propose to Second Miss Lin,” Duan Yuan replied, setting her foot down. The hostility around him had faded significantly, and his attitude had improved by leaps and bounds.
“Shouldn’t matters like marriage be discussed properly? Is there such a rush?” Old Master Lin fumed, his beard bristling. “Tao Tao is still young!”
“How much longer, then?” Duan Yuan tilted his head, asking earnestly. “Is ten days enough?”
Ten days? Duan Zheng, standing to the side, was speechless again. What did the young master think this girl was?
Just because her name had “Tao” in it didn’t mean she was an actual peach, ripening from green to mature in a few days.
Old Master Lin’s facial expression twisted, unsure how to respond to such a foolish question. In the end, A Tao whispered something in Duan Yuan’s ear. After a long while, the man rumored to be as fearsome as a ghost finally returned to his wheelchair and left with a group of men in black.
