Calling the police would escalate the situation.
After much deliberation, the security team leader finally made a gesture inviting Gu Chen to leave.
Even Shen Yan shot him a disdainful glare, “If you keep making trouble, Young Master Gu, I won’t mind seeing you in court!”
After all.
His record remained spotless with no losses in court!
Even after being scolded by Yu Sheng, Gu Chen still firmly believed she was involved with this Shen Yan.
Especially when he thought about how Yu Sheng was now carrying his child.
Gu Chen truly wished he could just kill him right then and there.
“You just wait!”
Shen Yan: “…”
Sometimes, talking to idiots is really frustrating!
Under Shen Yan’s contemptuous stare, Gu Chen finally left Wen Corporation unwillingly.
Top Floor.
Yu Sheng stormed angrily toward the CEO’s office but composed herself just before reaching the door.
After mentally cursing Gu Chen repeatedly, she was about to knock when the office door opened from inside.
Wen Zhuqing hadn’t even finished putting on his jacket properly. The moment he saw Yu Sheng, he immediately asked:
“Are you hurt anywhere?”
Yu Sheng thought he was only concerned because of the baby she was carrying.
Remembering how angry she had been earlier, she felt somewhat guilty.
Even her gaze toward Wen Zhuqing carried a hint of fear.
Choosing her words carefully, she said softly, “Maybe we should go to the hospital for a check-up.”
Otherwise.
She just couldn’t feel at ease!
Naturally.
Since learning about her pregnancy, Wen Zhuqing had been studying up on relevant information extensively, knowing that anger was particularly harmful for pregnant women.
He finished putting on his jacket and quickly took Yu Sheng downstairs.
When the elevator reached the first floor, they saw the cleaning aunt mopping the floor. The exquisite wooden lunch box had been wiped clean and placed to the side.
Seeing all that wasted food, Yu Sheng couldn’t help but complain bitterly again.
“Gu Chen is just sick!”
“After years abroad, he didn’t learn anything useful – just worsened his mental illness!”
“Who does he get this self-centered personality from? And he’s so thick-skinned – my hand still hurts from slapping him so many times!”
The young girl stomped her foot angrily, as if she were stepping on Gu Chen himself.
Wen Zhuqing found it somewhat amusing.
The more he looked at her, the more adorable his little girl seemed!
Yu Sheng suddenly remembered Wen Zhuqing was still beside her and quickly shut her mouth.
Immediately transforming back into that gentle, quiet, and well-behaved demeanor.
Walking as lightly as a tame little lamb.
Even when Wen Zhuqing glanced back at her, she shyly smiled without showing her teeth.
Wen Zhuqing: “…”
Was he really that intimidating?
While Yu Sheng was in the examination room, Wen Zhuqing called the executive office.
“Investigate the Gu family’s recent activities!”
Secretary: “We’ve already taken action!”
Wen Zhuqing: “?”
He hadn’t said anything – how had they already acted?
The secretary who had watched the entire incident on surveillance cameras also felt furious at Gu Chen.
After all, Yu Sheng had become practically like the company’s beloved mascot nowadays.
Everyone was counting on her to stabilize Wen Zhuqing’s mood and make their lives easier!
Especially.
Young Madam Wen is still so adorable, with a sweet smile and a small dimple on one cheek when she grins.
Utterly endearing.
That blind fool Gu Chen—causing a scene was bad enough, but he actually dared to spread malicious rumors too.
The secretary fumed indignantly, “Don’t worry, Young Master Wen! While corporate warfare in TV dramas and novels may seem sophisticated and high-class, it’s illegal!”
“Our approach is simple: we may not care about morals, but we stay within the law!”
Wen Zhuqing: “…Fine, handle it as you see fit.”
After the examination confirmed the baby was perfectly fine and unaffected by her emotional state, Yu Sheng finally let out a long sigh of relief.
Sitting on the waiting area bench, she pouted pitifully and mumbled, “That was so scary. Thankfully the baby is strong and knew I wasn’t truly angry.”
As she spoke, she began nervously picking at her fingers with slight embarrassment.
“Mr. Wen, I’m sorry for making you worry!”
During the waiting period, Wen Zhuqing must have been deeply concerned about the baby’s health.
It was all her fault—the moment she saw Gu Chen, she should have immediately avoided him instead of getting into an argument!
Seeing her so full of self-blame, Wen Zhuqing felt conflicted. He reached out and ruffled her hair gently.
“If you keep moping like this, the baby will think I’m bullying you!”
Yu Sheng broke into a teary laugh at his words, then remembered the lunch Aunt Jiang had worked hard to prepare. “What a pity about all that food though—Aunt Jiang spent so long making it!”
Wen Zhuqing casually teased, “Seeing how concerned you are, I almost thought you’d cooked it yourself.”
Ah!
His remark startled her.
She initially wanted to wave her hands and explain she wasn’t much of a cook, but then reconsidered—the trial marriage agreement was already stacked with favorable terms for her.
Aside from taking care of her own health and the baby, Wen Zhuqing hadn’t actually asked anything else of her.
Upon reflection, this arrangement seemed rather unfair to him.
After some deliberation, she whispered tentatively, “Well… maybe I could try making soup tonight?”
That shouldn’t be too difficult!
Listening to the girl’s murmuring thoughts, Wen Zhuqing couldn’t suppress a slight curl at the corner of his lips. He picked up the examination reports and headed outside.
“While I may have a stubborn personality, I’m not inhuman!”
What?
The girl stared blankly for a moment, startled by his words, before quickly bending to enter the car at his gesture.
Just as the car door closed beside her, Yu Sheng poked her head out through the window.
Her eyes remained fixed on Wen Zhuqing standing outside, as if still waiting for him to continue.
Seeing her dazed expression, Wen Zhuqing struggled to maintain composure before finally giving in.
He leaned close to the window, his profound eyes hidden behind lenses that—whether from the sunlight’s caress or the glass filtration—seemed noticeably softer than their usual sharpness. His thumb gently brushed past her delicate nose. “What kind of family would make a pregnant woman cook?”
Yu Sheng clearly heard the driver in front snicker.
Blushing crimson with embarrassment, she shot Wen Zhuqing an exasperated glare before hastily rolling up the window and turning away.
As the glass separated them, the tenderness deep in Wen Zhuqing’s eyes gradually faded.
Gu Chen!
It had been so long since anyone in Rongcheng dared provoke him like this!
Right then, his secretary sent photos and videos, proudly showcasing the results of his work.
“I had the cleaning staff water the money tree in President Gu’s office with boiling water, and it died!”
“Gu Chen’s car happened to be parked in a blind spot of the surveillance cameras, and its tires got punctured.”
“Oh, and by the way, President Gu had an interview with a financial magazine today, and his speech script was swapped!”
Wen Zhuqing: “…”
He couldn’t help but feel that such a multitude of malicious ideas couldn’t possibly have been conceived by the secretary alone!
