The year was 2103.
A state of emergency was being broadcast across every news channel in the capital.
The anchor’s urgent voice echoed through millions of homes as he warned citizens that a relentless torrential downpour had begun to engulf the city.
Everyone was instructed to evacuate to designated safe zones immediately.
This was no ordinary storm.
A mysterious atmospheric anomaly had forced the government to shut down major energy distribution centers and suspend all high-altitude air traffic.
Scientists feared that the bizarre rainfall possessed unknown properties capable of short-circuiting advanced power stations and disabling synthetic energy grids.
Meanwhile, Lan Hai and Mu Chen remained confined to their apartment.
Because of the relentless storm and the citywide lockdown, Lan Hai had no choice but to close his food stall.
Every open-air market had been shut down, leaving the two of them trapped indoors.
A week passed in complete boredom.
On the eighth day of the lockdown, at exactly 9:00 p.m., the two friends were lounging in the living room with nothing to do.
Lan Hai: “Hey, Chen. What do you want for dinner tonight?”
Mu Chen let out a long sigh.
Mu Chen: “Honestly, what choices do we even have? This ridiculous storm has practically locked down the entire neighborhood.”
He rubbed his chin thoughtfully before suddenly snapping his fingers.
Mu Chen: “Wait… I’ve got an idea.”
Without wasting another second, he pulled out his phone and called the Mu Family’s estate butler.
Butler Mu: “Good evening, Young Master.”
Mu Chen: “Butler Mu, do we still have any fresh food stored at the estate?”
Butler Mu: “Yes, Young Master. We have fresh chicken available.”
A grin spread across Mu Chen’s face.
Mu Chen: “Perfect. Have it delivered to Lan Hai’s apartment immediately.”
The butler hesitated.
Butler Mu: “Young Master… with all due respect, the storm outside is extremely severe—”
Mu Chen interrupted him without hesitation.
Mu Chen: “What? Are the servants made of sugar? Are they going to melt because of a little rain?”
The butler immediately gave in.
Butler Mu: “N-No, Young Master. I’ll send someone right away.”
After ending the call, Mu Chen shook his head with an exasperated sigh.
Mu Chen: “Unbelievable. I move out of the estate for a few days, and everyone starts acting like they own the place.”
Lan Hai looked at him curiously.
Lan Hai: “What’s wrong?”
Mu Chen waved his hand dismissively.
Mu Chen: “Nothing. Just get the kitchen ready.”
A mischievous grin appeared on his face.
“Tonight… we’re having fried chicken.”
Less than thirty minutes later, the apartment doorbell rang.
Mu Chen walked over and opened the door.
Standing outside was one of the Mu Family’s servants, completely drenched by the relentless rain.
In his hands was a sealed container filled with fresh chicken.
Mu Chen: “Thanks.”
The servant bowed respectfully.
Servant: “There’s no need to thank me, Young Master. It’s my duty.”
Mu Chen: “Alright. You can head back now.”
The servant nodded before disappearing into the storm.
From the kitchen, Lan Hai called out,
Lan Hai: “Did the chicken arrive?”
Mu Chen carried the container inside and smiled.
Mu Chen: “It did. Start cooking! I’ll grab the beers.”
Before long, the apartment was filled with the irresistible aroma of freshly prepared food.
Crispy fried chicken, rich chicken curry, steaming white rice, and several side dishes soon covered the dining table.
The two brothers raised their beer glasses.
Lan Hai: “Cheers.”
Mu Chen: “Cheers.”
Their glasses clinked together before they eagerly dug into the meal.
After dinner, they cleaned the table, chatted for a while, and eventually returned to their rooms for the night.
Outside, the storm continued to rage.
Deep into the night.A violent crack suddenly tore across the heavens.
High above the city, space twisted violently before splitting open into a swirling cosmic portal.
From the center of the vortex, a heavily wounded figure came hurtling toward Earth.
It was Sovereign Han Ji Shen.
His robes were torn, his body was covered in countless wounds, and fresh blood continued to pour from every inch of his battered frame.
Unable to control his descent, he plummeted straight toward Lan Hai’s apartment.
BOOM!
His unconscious body crashed through the balcony before slamming heavily onto the concrete floor.
The impact shattered flowerpots and left deep cracks across the balcony tiles.
Yet neither Lan Hai nor Mu Chen heard a thing.
The relentless thunder outside drowned out every sound.Shortly afterward, the mysterious rainfall finally came to an end.
The dark clouds gradually dispersed, revealing a clear night sky once again.
Meanwhile, Han Ji Shen remained motionless on the cold balcony, unconscious throughout the entire night.
The following morning, Lan Hai woke up and glanced at the digital clock.
7:00 a.m.
After stretching lazily, he walked toward the balcony to enjoy the fresh morning air.
The moment he stepped outside…
His blood ran cold.
An unconscious man dressed in ancient robes lay sprawled across the shattered balcony, his entire body soaked in blood.
For a split second, Lan Hai stood frozen.
Then he shouted at the top of his lungs.
Lan Hai: “MU CHEN!!”
Startled awake, Mu Chen shot upright in bed.
Mu Chen: “Who the hell died for you to scream like a banshee this early in the morning?!”
Still half-asleep, he stumbled onto the balcony.
The instant he saw the unconscious stranger, his eyes widened.
Mu Chen: “What the… Since when do burglars dress like they’re from ancient China?”
Lan Hai frowned.
Lan Hai: “How should I know?”
Mu Chen stared at Han Ji Shen from head to toe before speaking again.
Mu Chen: “Bro… we’re living in the year 2103, and this guy looks like he walked straight out of a dynasty from fifteen hundred years ago. What kind of bizarre cosplay is this?”
Lan Hai shook his head.
Lan Hai: “Forget the questions. He’s badly injured. We need to get him to a hospital first.”
Mu Chen let out a helpless sigh.
Mu Chen: “Unbelievable. A random disaster literally falls out of the sky and lands on our balcony.”
Working together, the two carefully lifted Han Ji Shen and rushed him to the Capital Central Hospital, where he was immediately admitted for emergency treatment.
Han Ji Shen remained unconscious for the next three days.
During that time, Lan Hai and Mu Chen visited him every day, taking turns checking on his condition.
His vision was blurred as he slowly adjusted to the unfamiliar surroundings.
Bright white lights illuminated the room, and countless strange machines surrounded his bed.
He stared silently at the ceiling, completely bewildered by this unfamiliar world.
Just then, the door opened.
Mu Chen walked into the room and smiled.
Mu Chen: “Well… look who finally decided to wake up.”
Han Ji Shen slowly turned his head.
His voice was weak and hoarse.
Han Ji Shen: “Who… are you?”
Mu Chen pulled up a chair and sat beside the bed.
Mu Chen: “I’m the guy who carried your half-dead body to this hospital. I’ve also been paying for your treatment, your meals, and every other medical expense.”
Han Ji Shen remained silent for a moment before asking,
Han Ji Shen: “Where… am I?”
Mu Chen blinked.
Mu Chen: “You’re in a hospital.”
Han Ji Shen slowly shook his head.
His expression turned solemn.
Han Ji Shen: “That isn’t what I asked.”
His sharp gaze locked onto Mu Chen.
Han Ji Shen: “Which planet is this?”
Mu Chen stared at him in disbelief.
He leaned forward and carefully examined Han Ji Shen’s face.
Mu Chen: “Listen, old man… you’re not pretending to have amnesia just to dodge the hospital bill, are you?”
Han Ji Shen pressed a hand against his throbbing head.
A faint groan escaped his lips.
Han Ji Shen: “Your assumptions… couldn’t be further from the truth.”
Sensing that something was seriously wrong, Mu Chen immediately called for the attending physician.
The doctor hurried into the room.
Doctor: “Is something wrong?”
Mu Chen pointed at Han Ji Shen.
Mu Chen: “Doctor, are you sure he didn’t suffer a brain injury? He keeps asking me what planet he’s on.”
The doctor calmly reviewed Han Ji Shen’s medical report.
Doctor: “His scans are completely normal. However, the severe trauma may have triggered temporary retrograde amnesia. It’s possible he’s lost all memory of his identity and surroundings.”
Mu Chen slapped a hand against his forehead.
Mu Chen: “Fantastic. Just when I thought this couldn’t get any worse.”
He reached into his pocket and pulled out his smartphone.
The instant Han Ji Shen saw the glowing screen, his battle instincts took over.
In a blur of motion, he snatched the phone from Mu Chen’s hand and hurled it across the room.
Crash!
The phone shattered against the wall.
Mu Chen jumped to his feet.
Mu Chen: “Hey! Have you completely lost your mind?! Why did you smash my phone?”
Han Ji Shen’s expression remained deadly serious.
Han Ji Shen: “You intended to assassinate me… with that enchanted glass.”
Mu Chen stood there speechless.
After several long seconds, he slowly turned toward the doctor.
Mu Chen: “Doctor…”
He pointed at Han Ji Shen with a defeated expression.
“…I think his brain is far worse than we imagined.”
