The door to the private room opened from the outside.
Just as Olivia Wynne expected, Zachary Fairchild was standing there.
Olivia Wynne glanced at the watch on her wrist.
Eleven o’clock, right on the dot.
‘Such a punctual man.’
“Miss Wynne, my apologies for being late.” Zachary Fairchild stood up straight and extended his hand toward Olivia Wynne.
Olivia Wynne reached out and gave his hand a light shake, her voice crisp.
“Not at all.
I was the one who arrived too early.”
“You’re very punctual, Mr.
Fairchild.”
Hearing Olivia Wynne’s words, a slight smile broke across Zachary Fairchild’s calm expression.
“So, Miss Wynne actually recognizes me today.”
As he spoke, he sat down on the sofa opposite Olivia Wynne.
Olivia Wynne sat down as well.
Hearing him, she said lightly, “Mr.
Fairchild has always known who I am.
It would be rather unfair if I still didn’t know who you were.”
Zachary Fairchild let out a soft chuckle, changing the subject.
“Have you ordered, Miss Wynne?”
“No, after you, Mr.
“Mm.” Zachary Fairchild accepted without ceremony, opening the menu and beginning to order with the waiter standing behind him.
“Steamed Crucian Carp, Braised Lion’s Head Meatballs, Abalone with Scallops…”
As Zachary Fairchild’s magnetic voice listed off the dishes, the names were all Olivia Wynne could hear.
As she pictured the dishes he had named, Olivia’s eyes lit up.
She looked at the waitress behind him, wishing she could just tell her to rush to the kitchen and have the chef start cooking immediately.
Zachary Fairchild listed about a dozen dishes before he stopped.
His dark eyes turned to Olivia Wynne, and he said in a low voice, “I’m finished.
Would you like to add anything?”
“Alright.” Without hesitation, Olivia Wynne reached out and took the menu.
With the menu in hand, she ordered another five or six dishes before passing it to the waitress.
After taking the menu, the waitress didn’t leave immediately.
Instead, she stayed put and looked at Olivia Wynne.
“Ma’am, may I ask if it’s only the two of you dining here?”
“Mm,” Olivia Wynne replied softly.
At this, the waitress maintained her faint smile and gently explained, “Ma’am, we have a policy here.
Any food ordered for dine-in cannot be packed to go.
If there are too many leftovers, there will be a surcharge.”
The Gilded Lotus was one of Imperia’s most famous establishments, renowned for its exquisite cuisine.
Because the food was so delicious, the restaurant’s reputation was excellent, and it was always packed with customers.
Because business was booming, the chefs at The Gilded Lotus were often overwhelmed.
To manage demand, the restaurant had implemented a few rules for ordering.
A party of two, like Olivia Wynne and Zachary Fairchild, would typically order four to six dishes at The Gilded Lotus.
However, the two of them had ordered a total of sixteen or seventeen dishes.
It was obvious they couldn’t possibly finish it all, so the waitress felt it was her professional duty to give Olivia a gentle reminder.
Olivia Wynne listened to the waitress’s well-intentioned reminder and gave her a gentle smile.
“Thank you, I’m aware.”
‘It seems like a lot, but I can finish it all.’
Seeing that she wasn’t getting through to Olivia Wynne, the waitress turned to try persuading Zachary Fairchild.
But before she could speak, he did.
“The order stands as is.
And please, have the kitchen hurry.”
