The three golems, now a lot closer, started to become a lot more threatening as they all lifted up their hands and slammed them down directly where Flo and Cath were.
Flo kicked Cath pushing her away as he jumped into the opposite direction.
The blood wound around Cath’s leg had dried up by now but the crumbling of the ground causing her leg to slip re-opened the wounds.
Flo dodging the incoming attacks gathered essence into his rifle—only moments later was the barrel full.
He aimed the gun straight at the head of one golem and shot:
Bang!
The bullet smashed into the head of the golem, leaving a miniature crater in the top right of its head.
Still alive and kicking, with only its head slightly lifted from the impact, the golem quickly recovered.
Another golem to the right Flo punched down onto the ground directly at Flo.
Spotting it in time, he jumped left his necklace plink moving with him but his foot he hopped off remained dangling exactly where the punch was landing:
“AHHHHHHHHH,” the scream ripped from Flo’s neck and into the ears of Cath as she stared in horror.
Flo’s foot was crushed under the punch of the golem.
The stone fist didn’t move and kept pressing downwards onto the earth and Florian’s foot.
Flo gritted his teeth together as he stopped tugging his foot not willing to have his whole leg torn off.
Cath tried to collect a powerful wave of water but failed as her level was lacking.
The water dissipated in front of her as her eyes kept track of the stone fist—a current of wind splattered onto her body.
Causing her to turn, the third golem raised their leg about to strike down onto her.
Her pupils drew back into tiny circles as fear overcrowded her face.
Flo, not paying attention, remained in panic though no longer screaming as all energy drained from within him.
Behind the golem who’s about to kick Cath a familiar weapon raised itself high into the air.
It is a halberd designed with splashes of red and moments of gold-ish yellow.
It was Max appearing from the mess of nature.
He slammed down his halberd into the back of the golem causing it to fall face-first but it luckily allowed enough time for Cath to escape leftwards of the falling golem.
Switching his attention, Max created a weak gale of wind and sent it flying towards the golem injuring Flo who is also the golem with a birds nest on its head.
The force of winds slammed into the golems arm forcing it off, making it tumble to its side.
Cath darted over to Flo and gave him a body to lean on as he is barely able to keep himself up.
“Let’s go,” shouted Max with surprisingly some motion of urgency and worry.
Flo could barely move and had to drag his foot behind him as he leaned on Cath becoming a burden for her.
The first golem that was knocked over is slowly pulling itself back up, the golem that punched Flo is still on its side, its hands flaying with the bird nest knocked off its head.
The final golem that was shot by Flo has left its drowsy state and seems to be stuck in confusion as it looks at its two knocked-over companions.
Max protected Flo and Cath as they moved at a pace too slow—way too slow.
Only 10 metres or so they walked before one golem started to chase—the one with a bullet lodged into its head.
It attempted to run but the large trees stopped it from running very far but it did close the gap.
Using the mess of nature as coverage, the three were able to scramble out of the golems’ sights and took shelter under an overarching hill.
“You two run and you’ll distract the golems’ and I’ll follow slowly behind, that’s our only chance for all three of us to live,” quietly stated Flo.
Ignoring those words, Cath grabbed the squished boot covering Flo’s foot and shook it off.
Then she pulled his foot onto her lap and took out a red vial from her spatial storage.
The bare foot was brutally smashed to bits, no blood was anywhere near his lower leg, the bones non-existent and the entire foot covered in a layer of purple with splotches of dark blue/black.
Cath twisted the cap of the vial open and poured it over Flo’s foot and lower leg.
“How in the world do you have such an expensive potion, even I don’t have that?” Asked a discombobulated Max as he watched the liquid absorb the limb of Florian and settle into his skin until only a few moments later the entire leg seemed to come back to life.
The bones and blood were rejuvenated, the leg now looking no-different compared to his other leg.
“Thanks,” gratefully said Flo.
Cath didn’t reply simply rubbing his repaired leg until she was satisfied and stuck his boot back onto his foot.
Breathing a sigh of relief they were now in a much better situation and would be able to run from the golems.
Preparing to get up, Flo grabbed both the wandering hands of Max and Cath.
They stared at Flo in confusion until they not only heard it but also saw it.
The bottom left side of a large stone figure could be seen by the three walking off to the right of the hole they are residing in that’s carved into the side of the small hill.
Then another golem stomped to the left side of them only a few metres ahead.
The three were completely frozen, lips rubbing aggressively against each other, limbs grasping onto the dungeons dirt.
A rumble came from above them, dirt began to sink into them.
The third golem was above them.
It jumped and its foot landed only inches in front of their shelter and created a large quake in the ground.
It moved forward step by step.
Once it got a few metres away, Flo started to speak, “don’t move just yet.
Let’s wait a little longer.
Patience.
Patience,” he whispered to the two whilst he stared dead ahead.
They all waited as the stomps shoveled up the ground.
Eventually the golems escaped from their view as the last golem forced a tree upwards before dropping it behind them.
The three still didn’t leave from their hole but did relax slightly.
“Where now?” Started Cath.
“We can’t go straight as we’ll run into them, we could go round and back down the ladder but there is a risk we run into them and another option is to go the other way, towards the boss area and beat it.
Or we could wait here for many more hours and hope the golems have left to the other side of this forest.”
“Let’s go beat the boss,” excitedly replied Cath.
Coming to a decision, they crawled out the hole and stretched out their bodies.
Still all being rather quiet about it except for Cath, “So Max is it, what stage are you?”
“9th iron,” he replied in a tranquil manner.
They move together in the opposite direction of where the golems are going, they traverse over the tiny hill that gave them the shelter.
The group didn’t encounter any other enemies, only some vines and plants blocking their path—the vicious little things.
Eventually they found the craggy wall of the mountain the dungeon was built in:
“Left or right?” Flo asked.
“I can see the corner over there so let’s go left,” Cath replied as she pointed at the rocky corner which encircled this area of the dungeon.
Max kept his mouth in its usual position and followed the two while keeping his ears perked up.
Only a few minutes later did they come to a crack in the mountain wall, a thin narrow tunnel with blue-ish tainted with green seeping through as pure darkness was the only other visible entity.
Flo crept into the crack first moving sideways through it and having to shuffle through the narrow parts to fit through, Cath followed and Max defended the rear as he snuck through the crack.
All three popping out the other side a large space opened up before them as they stepped onto the edge of a cliff overlooking a circle of grass in front of a large tree.
To the right was a steep downwards path that led all the way down to the bottom and looking off the path’s edge, nine other doors/cracks/gateways were carved into the walls of the dungeon.
“Finally, let’s go fight the boss,” an enthusiastic Cath said as she darted down the path, leaving Flo and Max behind.
