More sounds stumbled out of the mouth that should be attached to the pure light hand.

Kakaaaah kaaakaa

Birds screeching echoed through the light and into the space of visible jungle.Full novel: The Mad Prophet — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Florian catching onto what the simple trial is aimed his rifle straight up into the air.

This action caused a reaction from the voice as it mumbled and grumbled some more.

“Three bullets, one bird, one kill, one pass,” Flo said to himself the figure enshrouded by the light didn’t seem to hear as the words elicited no reaction.

A white dove flew above the jungle canopy.

In Flo’s eyes the dove flew straight over but it was slow, very slow.

The barrel lined up with the bird.

And Florian’s hand around the gun tightened.

Bang!

A shot rippled through the streams of dead wind, tearing through the layers of leaves, eventually arriving at its target.

The regular copper bullet smacked into the innocent bird.

Feathers exploded into the air dropping down onto the leaves, blood as their compatriots.

A much louder but still inaudible grumble came from the supposed figure in the pure orange tinted light.

A wave of power was released over Florian’s body.

He completed the test.

An incredibly easy test.

Within moments, his consciousness escaped from the jungle and not long after returned to his body.

Now in his room with his real body, his eyes flickered open.

Accessing the plink’s screen he confirmed his thoughts:

Reflecting over the day, confirming he has all his items and looking at the pile of what is most likely just junk now, he stretched out the meditative position and laid sleepily onto the bed.

His eyes shut as the moon’s light bathed the city and comforted Florian’s body and mind.

…

The next day, walking down the stairs of the antique shop, He greeted a “hello” and “goodbye” to Bil as he left.

The ring of the familiar signalled his exit as he turned the corner to look into the ally.

It is still blocked off by the coats.

Two coats, a man and a woman, stood at the forefront blocking anyone from entering the squalid alley.

They eyed Flo with suspicion as he stared down the alley.

Flo didn’t see much, a strange constant faint blue light seemed to be emitted from the hole in the wall—whilst the other coats stood around, protecting it with intent. This chapter is updated first at NovelPing.

He glanced back to the roof of the antique shop, probably wondering if he should go back and find out what the blue light is.

But his own laziness overtook him, he turned and left from the crime scene hoping the light will still exist when he comes back this afternoon/evening.

The coats watched as Florian left.

The male coat opened his mouth, “an interesting boy, that one isn’t he?

I mean with his white hair.”

“Whatever you say Tom,” the female coat replied to Tom, her exhaustingly cute voice barely reaching his ears.

“So, what do you think they’re doing, I mean they’ve been at it for a good few hours,” the unaged voice of Tom replied without a single bump or groan in it.

“Who cares, let’s just do our job, we could get in trouble if a member of the public hears us Tim.”

“Yes Mabel… but how about we play a game, let’s play I spy with my little eye and whoever guesses the word gets to learn something about their background,” Tom declared, really hoping to play the game.

“But I don’t care about where you come from,” the response from Mable was cold and curt.

Her short dark purple hair brushed her shoulders as the wind surged into them both.

Her green eyes fluttered open and closed.

“Then you can ask me any question you like, you can start.”

“Fine then, I spy with my little something beginning with… L.”

Looking around, Tom began to guess a series of words and each time a shake of the head arrived too, “Ledge, leg… land, lamp, light, lantern… uhhh, lindow.”

“That’s not a word Tom,” Mabel released a chuckle, “do you want a hint?” A nod appeared from Tom’s head, “Everything, even you is made of it.”

Tom became very discombobulated from this riddle.

After more looking around, he gave up, “I give, what is it?”

“The word is line,” a cheeky smirk decorated her face as she knew the foolery at play.

Tom’s mouth lay agasp, “that’s just not fair.”

“Fine, you can ask a question.”

Tom calmed down a bit, then another question popped into his head, “Wait, you don’t care if someone asks you about your family do you?”

“I do care.

Not a great question,” Mabel turned away and stared into the alley.

“I didn’t mean for tha— to be my question,” Tom said sadly coming to a realisation that Mabel isn’t a generous woman.

Shifting to join Mable in her watching, as her pupils shrunk and drew back into her eyes.

Tom stared down into the alley.

The blue light burst into all directions, creating cracks in the nearby walls and streets as they barely held themselves together.

Wet stomps ruptured the ground making it become a heart.

Thump after thump.

Beat after beat.

A large human-like creature crouched through the hole in the wall.

The creature was made of pure water.

No skin, no bones, no blood.

The water a dark jewel blue, the other side visible through it but slightly distorted.

Its eyes a dark devilish red, its sharp and lengthy tongue fled outside of its watery mouth lapping up its own skin.

The creature now into the air of the alleyway stretched his whole body, standing at full height.

The top of his head reached Flo’s window.

Another being came from the hole in the wall.

This time Tom and Mabel weren’t anywhere near as surprised as it was a human being.

A human we have seen before.

Tom and Mabel quickly turned around, ignoring what they shouldn’t know.

Tom attempted to calm the situation, “The street is looking nice today, so what about that white-haired boy, maybe he’s part of the sun cultists.

You know what they say, a criminal always goes back to the scene of their crime.”

Tom went on an endless ramble of whatever topics were available as the wet stomps continued and grew louder and louder and louder.

Thump, Thump, Thump!

The bodies of the duo straightened, as now they could feel water splashing onto their finely suited overcoats.

The large creature walked past them, the duo’s eyes locked dead ahead of them.

The ocean haired man followed behind the monster.

Now making it into the much larger street, the creature crouched down low to the ground.

The man smiled happily and climbed onto the back of the creature eventually making it to its shoulder as it stood up once again.

His legs dangled off the front-side of the beast as they walked through the streets not caring what the common person thought.

Tom and Mabel gradually relaxed as the man and creature disappeared from view.

Tom started again, “so have you found out who that man is and can you also find out how he has such a fish-like man-like beast.”

“I don’t know and I don’t know or maybe I do and don’t want to tell you.”

Tom’s mouth became a gaping hole.

No rage, no irritation, just confusion.

…

Inside the Union building.

The building was empty for the most-part and Flo was in front of the quest board.

This time a few quests caught his eye.

One was to be a bodyguard during an upcoming festival for the city mayor.

Another was to hunt down a serial killer that vanished months ago.

A few others also caught his eye but were less rewarding than these two.

Taking his time to decide between the two, a familiar pinch popped into his back.

Turning around, the individual he saw didn’t surprise him.

It was Catherine.

Wearing the same clothes and her scythe not out for view.

She waved at Flo as her mouth opened, “I didn’t give you your reward for helping me out in the dungeon.

Just wait here, I’m gonna go exchange the cores we got and give you your share.”

Turning around, she headed to the front desk where Emily was once again and passed all the cores to her, gaining a bunch of money back into her plink which is her bracelet hidden under her right sleeve.

Cath returns to Flo, “where’s your plink?”

Florian tugged on his necklace and Cath revealed her bracelet designed with a simple silver coating and clinked the plinks together.

Florian opened his menu:

[Currency – 200 Shards 0 Sols 0 Eclipse Shards (Owes 250 shards to All Gunnery to be paid within 86 sunrises)]

“Isn’t this more than what we got in the dungeon?” Flo asked.

“I’m rich,” Cath responded.

The answer made sense to Flo as his body and eyes wandered back to the questboard.

He pulled the paper which had the serial killer quest written on it.

Cath peeked over his shoulders, her eyes widening, obviously fascinated by the quest as her mouth opened to speak:

“Let’s do it together.”
