Bang!
The floorboards dart into the ceiling as a pure black line of an animal jumps out behind the drunken man with the dead dad and zooms straight into the chest of the man.
A large circular chunk of flesh clinged onto the beast as it lashed through the other side of the man and dived straight into another floorboards causing another massive:
Creak and Bang!
It went as it came, a creak and a bang.
It vanished under the tavern grounds as chaos ensued inside.
For some idiotic reason, the drunken bastards started a brawl and punches were traded in all directions.
Florian grabbed onto Cath and fled from the tavern.
Exiting into the outside world where the sun began to set, the duo having the same mind sprinted to the east of the tavern, where the snake-like creature should have fled towards.
“The killer’s picture was a man though?” Catherine pondered as they ran, huffing through gasps of oxygen as she spoke, Florian did the same as he responded:
“People see a lot of things when they panic,” Cath didn’t respond as they halted, not making it far from the tavern.
The only noise being the distant shouts of vicious glory from the tavern.
Right in front of Cath and Flo the trail seemed to have gone cold.
“Up there!” Flo shouted as he spotted a human figure similar to the one in the photo flashing in and out of his vision.
The killer bolted across the rooftops.
The duo ran together to catch up with the man as the snake-like beast had already vanished.
Not wasting time clambering up the walls, they ran through the streets as they stared at the fleeing criminal.
As the sun set, the streets began to empty but life still remained upon them, forcing Flo and Cath to weave in and out of the dispensing groups.
A strong scent of cheese wafted through the air as they ran through multiple stands of exhausted men and women gathering the remaining produce.
The criminal carried on running on the rooftops but then he jumped leftwards to a building which was inaccessible by the current street that Flo and Cath was on.
This forced the duo to distance themselves from the killer as they looped around the streets.
Connecting back to the streets beside the killer.
They carried on running but it wasn’t long until they started heading in a circuit-like chase.
Deciding that a change is needed, whilst Cath kept chasing on the streets of Birnam, Flo began to climb the buildings by scaling the sides and clinging onto the diagonal wooden beams.
Finally making it to the top and balancing on the wooden beam that connects the sloping rooftops, he darted at the killer who had already made it multiple buildings away.
On the ground, Cath stayed close, not allowing the murderer to flee from sight.
Back to the rooftops, the killer maintained the gap, not allowing Flo to catch up.
Even trying to slow him down.
Creak, Bang!
The snake-like animal burst from under the sloping roof and lashed into Florian.
Now seeing the beast in its full glory. Find the original chapter at g.com.
He recognised it.
The beast or better to say machine wasn’t much different, except from the colour of it, from the contraptions he found in the sun cultists lair.
Once all pieced together they would essentially make the carbon black machine shaped like a snake that was now darting straight into his body.
Not willing to become just another victim, he tilted his body to the right just in time.
The machine dropped onto the roof just behind Flo as a sharp watery orb shot past him and straight into the snake.
It exploded onto the snake’s body wrapping it like a coat as it got pushed backwards and off the buildings into the street.
Florian looked at Cath and gave a thankful gesture to her as she ran off to chase the machine.
Realising this, Florian’s focus shifted back to the killer who had already extended the gap massively.
“I wanted you alive mate but guess that’s not happening is it?” He muttered to himself as a gleaming silvery rifle got pulled off his back as he crouched downwards and steadied it into his two hands.
Black blood began to gather into the barrel as the sights were dead set on the now small sprinting figure.
Florian’s hands gripped the gun tighter as one finger tightened more than the rest—Bang!
An e-bullet zoomed stabbed the air, causing a large outburst of wind as it forced its way to the criminal.
Only a fraction of a second later, an agonising scream rang out into the many compact buildings of Birnam.
“Either dead or barely breathing, kinda want it to be the first option—giving me a run-round like this,” Florian stated clearly as he pulled himself up and walked to the killer’s body.
On the other hand, Catherine was still chasing after the snake contraption but had yet to encounter it face-to-face, only catching glimpses of it as it caused chaos for the civilians.
Her face distorted into panic as she faced a fact:
“I can’t catch this thing.”
Back to the dying killer as Florian narrowed in he noticed no blood pooling below his body.
He also noticed his black blood almost alive trying to assault and penetrate the man’s body but to no avail.
His eyes stilled as he moved closer, his hands clinging onto the two holsters attached by his side but one hand had to stray away and poke at the criminal’s body.
No reaction or flinch erupted from the man’s body—so he’s dead right?
Well that’s what Flo thought as well as he kicked the body over causing the man’s face to be revealed.
Mostly covered by a mask, only his dusted golden eyes were visible.
Florian’s hand gravitated towards his face and pulled down the mask.
His whole face was stone-cold.
Now we know he is definitely dead.
His lips cracked and dried blood that once flowed seemed to stop a long time ago and the rest of his face was marked by battles with multiple warriors like acne and eczema.
“You’re not dead or alive, are you a cultist?” Flo questioned rather loudly.
The man’s pupils snapped towards Flo: Find the original chapter at g.com.
“How did you know?” The rough voice asked with a slightly mechanical tone.
“I could answer your question or I could” he pulled out his pistol resting on his right hip and a loud Creak, Bang smashed into the air as the snake zapped through the roof and was met with a thunderous:
Bang!
A black blooded e-bullet slammed into the machine straight into its head causing sparks to fly as the metal began to dissolve from the blood.
Its corpse dropping onto the top of the building melancholicly and sliding off into the streets of Birnam waiting below.
Florian and the killer maintained eye contact during this series of events and neither reacted to it.
“For my safety,” Flo said as another load of blood began to slosh around the barrel of the pistol, “I’m gonna kill you,” he said and moments later the cold silver was pressed against the man’s forehead.
And a muffled but still explosive bang rang out.
However it didn’t go to plan.
The bullet didn’t even leave the barrel instead being forced back in.
As soon as it touched the man, maybe not a man, it attempted to kill but failed miserably.
Trying again, Florian grabbed his rifle.
Taking a step back he aimed the rifle straight at the killer’s head and collected his most powerful e-bullet to date.
He pulled the trigger and it caused the air to flee in panic but the alas, the man did not react.
The bullet hit the man, it dispersed over his head and the blood tried to harm his skin but nothing happened.
Not knowing what to do, Flo moved closer and tried to inspect the man but he grabbed Florian’s rifle.
“I don’t think I can kill you, but you can kill me.
So I’m not in a great position am I,” Florian stated with calmness.
“You’re correct but I’m nice,” after saying this his grip around the rifle tightened, completely crushing it whilst his other hand pushed Flo off balance causing him to fall into his bum as the criminal got up and walked off.
Lifting himself up, Florian looked at his rifle before throwing it away.
He gazed at the back of the man, noticing details he didn’t notice before.
Like his gait, it wasn’t human—humans don’t walk like that.
The man is walking limb by limb not as a smooth motion like a living being.
Also his whole body, the proportions are slightly off everywhere.
His neck doesn’t seem properly adjusted as his head expands further than where the neck meets, creating a slight visible gap to the other side.
“What a strange thing,” Florian said as he lost focus of the man and instead focused on a running girl.
It was Catherine still running the streets of Birnam trying to find the snake-like machine.
About to run off to her, Flo looked around to see if he dropped anything and he saw a piece of paper; a piece of paper that didn’t come from him.
