Men appeared at the far end of the aisle dressed in dark suits and long coats, moving quickly and scanning the area with sharp, alert eyes.

Not the police. Definitely not police. They looked dangerous. Organized. Like mob enforcers straight out of a crime movie.

What the hell is going on? Panic rose sharply in Sienna’s chest. Was she really about to die tonight?Full novel: The Mafia King of Philadelphia: From witness to his doted wife — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

"Boss, we came as soon as we got your signal."

The men in black suits stopped the moment they reached Viktor, lowering their heads slightly in respect. Sienna’s heart nearly stopped.

Boss? Oh God. Oh God, this man wasn’t just some killer. The realization hit her so hard she felt dizzy.

She had walked into something far bigger than murder.

Viktor didn’t even glance at the body anymore. His expression remained cold and unreadable as if death was nothing more than another mess needing cleanup.

"Clean this up," he ordered calmly.

"Yes, boss," one of the men replied quickly before lowering his voice. "But the police are already outside. Moving the body now will be difficult."

Police? Sienna’s eyes widened instantly. The police were here? For one hopeful second, relief rushed through her chest.

Saved. She was saved. But then Viktor smiled. And somehow that terrified her more than the gun.

"That’s fine," he said smoothly. Before Sienna could react, Viktor grabbed her suddenly and pulled her tightly against his side.

"Don’t try anything funny." The cold barrel of the gun dug painfully into her ribs beneath her cardigan. Sienna’s breath shook.

The men moved quickly around them while Viktor guided, more like dragged, her through a back emergency exit behind the library.

Rain hit her face immediately. Several black vehicles waited in the alley with engines already running. This can’t be happening.

This can’t actually be happening. The dead body remained inside the library. The police were outside. And somehow the murderer was casually walking away with her like he owned the world.

Viktor shoved her into the backseat of a black van before sliding in beside her. The door slammed shut. Two men sat in front while another vehicle pulled out behind them.

Then the van started moving. Sienna pressed herself against the door instinctively, her pulse racing so fast it hurt. She didn’t know where they were taking her.

She didn’t know if she would survive the night. But one thing became painfully clear.

If she didn’t do something soon, she was never getting out of this alive. Think. Think.

Her phone. Still in her pocket. Sienna kept her face carefully neutral while slowly slipping her trembling hand into her cardigan pocket.

The van drove through the wet streets quietly while Viktor sat beside her like darkness itself, one arm resting lazily against the seat while his gun remained aimed directly at her side.

Sienna’s fingers finally wrapped around her phone. Slowly... Slowly... She pulled it out just enough to unlock it. But the moment the screen lit up. Viktor’s eyes shifted downward instantly.

Damn it. "Well," he murmured softly, "you sneaky little thing." Before she could react, he snatched the phone clean out of her hand.

"Hey—!" Viktor leaned back casually while examining the lock screen. A smiling picture of Sienna and Simon filled the display.

Sienna’s stomach twisted painfully. The photo had been taken three months ago during a beach trip. Simon had kissed her cheek while she laughed at the camera.

Viktor studied the image with mild amusement. "Well, well," he drawled. "You’re the roses-and-chocolates type." His grey eyes flicked toward her.

"And what comes next? A sex tape?"

"Give it back!" Sienna snapped despite her fear. "It’s mine!"

Viktor smirked faintly. "No wonder he’s so stupid."

Before she could understand what he meant, Viktor suddenly grabbed her waist and pulled her closer against him. Sienna gasped sharply.

"What are you doing?" The gun remained firmly in his other hand. Dangerously close. Viktor lowered his face slightly near her hair, inhaling slowly.

The gesture was strangely intimate and deeply unsettling all at once. Sienna tried pulling away immediately, but his grip tightened.

"You smell like vanilla," he murmured. Her breathing became uneven. "And fear."

"Get off me," she whispered angrily. But Viktor barely moved. His sharp eyes stayed fixed on her face now, studying every reaction carefully.

"You smell like a virgin," he said bluntly. Heat rushed to Sienna’s face instantly.

"What?!" She shoved against his chest, horrified. "That is none of your business!" A low chuckle escaped him.

For the first time since meeting him, Viktor actually looked entertained. Meanwhile, Sienna felt like screaming.

She was trapped in a van with a dangerously attractive psychopath who smelled her hair, carried guns, and talked about murder like discussing the weather.

And somehow... That terrified her even more than the blood in the library. The drive felt endless.

Sienna sat frozen beside Viktor while rain streaked across the tinted windows of the van. Nobody spoke. The only sounds were the quiet rumble of the engine and the occasional crackle from the radios the men carried.

Every second made the reality sink in deeper. She had been kidnapped.

By a man who had just murdered someone at the school library, a hitman with other dangerously looking men under him. Her breathing became shallow again.

Her eyes slowly drifted toward Viktor, sitting beside her.

Even now, he looked completely relaxed. One arm rested lazily against the seat while his gun remained in his hand as it belonged there naturally.

Violence was simply part of him. Who was this man? And why did everyone fear him so much? About forty minutes later, the gates finally appeared.

Massive black iron gates slowly opened as the convoy approached. Sienna’s eyes widened. Beyond them stood a mansion so huge it barely looked real.

Lights glowed across the enormous estate while armed guards patrolled every corner. Expensive black cars lined the circular driveway, security cameras covered the property, and men in suits stood watch near the entrance like soldiers protecting a king.

Her stomach dropped.
