The sun hadn’t risen yet.

My eyes were heavy, drowned in sleep, when an annoying sound pulled me awake.

My hand searched for the lampshade beside the table before answering the phone call.Full novel: The Mafia’s Final Possession; Love and Kill — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“Hello” I said while my eyes were still closed.

“Agent Beltran, this is Gideon speaking. I’ll be forwarding you the file for your next mission. Let’s meet at the safe house at five o’clock”

My eyes were wide opened.

Whatever sleep remained in me disappeared.

I looked at the clock.

And it was already past three in the morning.

I took a cold bath to wake myself up.

The chill against my skin made me shiver, and awaken.

I slipped into a black jumpsuit with a black long-sleeved turtleneck.

I paired it with a leather jacket, nude sunglasses, and formal burgundy heels.

A text appeared on my screen as I am on my way to the safe house for my intel brief discussion with the new POI or person of interest.

I tapped the screen and the message appeared.

From: Sir Gideon

There’s a problem.

Our safe house was located by the Salvadorian Mafia and is being burned.

Retaliate immediately and fly to Italy.

Your team is waiting for you.

I gripped the steering wheel and rotated it back and I revive the engine.

The sound of it roaring through the early morning gave me a rush of adrenaline.

By six o’clock, I had made it to the airport.

Sir Gideon gave me the location of our confidential informant and briefed me about the new mission received from the upper hand.

He handed me a brown envelope and a bag loaded with cash, firearms, and bullets.

“He’s not an easy target agent, so always stay vigilant and be extra cautious. Once they find you, they’ll burn you,” he warned.

I gave him a quick nod before making my way toward the plane.

The agency provided me with a business-class seat.

A flight attendant handed me a bottle of wine.

I placed it beside the table, pulled the file from the envelope, and began analyzing the information.

Target Profile

Name: Keegan Ciffarelli

Role: Boss of the Ciffarellian Mafia.

The eldest.

Known Traits: Dominant, observant, cold, and violent.

Hires a woman every two months to satisfy himself.

Known Associates: Underboss and Caporegime.

Skills: Physical combat, martial arts, taekwondo, firearms, and boxing.

Objective of the Mission

Gain information about the inner and outer operations of the mafia.

Payment will be transferred after the mission is completed.

A small smile tugged at my lips as I studied his profile.

Keegan Ciffarelli.

His photograph showed a sharp jawline, a chiseled face, thick eyebrows, striking eyes, and full lips.

I scoffed and turned the page.

Looks wouldn’t matter once the mission began.

His last name caught me off guard and my chest tightened.

I settled the details and went over my strategy.

My teammates were also on their way.

I can’t help but to worry.

My finger ran along the rim of the wineglass.

The deep red liquid reminded me of blood.

It was the most terrorizing thing that I had ever witness.

The last mission had consumed us for years before it finally ended.

Now, our next target was a mafia leader who had remained difficult to keep in sight.

Too risky to get involved with and too dangerous to hunt.

I lowered the glass.

A memory suddenly flashed through my mind.

The first day I became an agent.

The first mission I could never forget.

A mission involving the Ciffarellian Mafia had led to the exile of one of the agency’s greatest agents.

She’s the one who saved me and the one who suffer for me was the person who gave me life.

I remembered the report.

The image flushed inside my mind that my breathing grew heavy.

She had been found covered in blood.

Her tongue had been removed, and her body had been mutilated.

Later, we discovered that her organs had been taken and sold.

I can’t do anything at that time, because of my arrogance I hadn’t keep my mom alive.

The agency can’t start a war to the Ciffarellian Mafia or else it would let into a bloodbath.

My fingers tightened around the glass.

They began to shake and get tensed.

My heart pounded against my chest as the memory replayed in my head.

I looked toward the window.

Italy was getting closer.

My breathing grew uneven.

Six years ago, mom had been sent into their territory and never came back alive.

Now, I was flying straight into the same place.

And I wouldn’t leave Italy not unless I had fulfill my revenge.

I’ll show no mercy for all of them.

A life for a life even if it took mine.
