Lin Luxi felt the sharp, rough, massive object pressing down on Yue Xinghe’s back.

Lin Luxi wasn’t foolish; he quickly realized that Yue Xinghe was currently doing exactly what he himself had wanted to do moments ago but hadn’t been able to accomplish.

Amidst the rubble of the collapsed building, Yue Xinghe was creating a small, cramped space for him to survive.Full novel: The Male Lead Always Thinks I’m Out To Get Him [Transmigration Into A Novel] — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Lin Luxi wasn’t someone easily moved, yet this time, he couldn’t help but be deeply touched.

His heart felt as if it were soaking in warm water, both aching and swollen.

His eyes grew warm, and his nose tingled with a faint sourness.

It took him less than a second to make up his mind. Gritting his teeth, he resolved to risk exposing his identity by using his powers to heal Yue Xinghe’s injuries.

Yue Xinghe was focusing all his energy on suppressing his mental powers, holding up his body purely by instinct. His muscles were as rigid as steel, and his arms trembled slightly.

Faintly, Lin Luxi heard someone outside shouting, “Found them! They’re here!”

Then, he heard Gao Keyun and the others calling out for help loudly.

Lin Luxi’s anxious heart stirred, and he shouted back, “We’re here! Over here!”

Yue Xinghe’s throat tickled, the smell of blood in his breath growing stronger. He coughed.

He tilted his head slightly, still mindful even now not to let the blood he coughed up spray onto the face of the person beneath him. Then, he forced out a low growl from his throat, “Get out of here, quickly!”

He was reaching his limit; the rampaging mental power had finally shattered the barrier.

Lin Luxi cupped Yue Xinghe’s face with both hands, his voice soft. “Yue Xinghe, they’ve come to save us. You’re going to be okay.”

The mental power, which had just shattered the barrier in a surge of overwhelming momentum and murderous intent, poised to annihilate everything, let out a silent whimper. With that gentle pat, it was soothed into something as soft as a limp noodle, becoming as docile as a newborn baby just a few days old.

If that mental power had a consciousness, it would surely be babbling at that moment: Wh-what is this feeling? It f-feels… feels good…

Yue Xinghe was also stunned speechless.

Ever since his rebirth, the crisis he had been desperately suppressing and unable to resolve was temporarily neutralized by Lin Luxi’s simple action.

Seizing this opportunity, he quickly rebuilt the barrier, pulling all of his mental power, now temporarily as docile as a child, back into confinement.

More than ten minutes later, the debris above them was cleared away, and light streamed in. Lin Luxi squinted, slightly uncomfortable, and in his field of vision, Yue Xinghe’s head seemed to radiate a golden halo.

Then, a weight fell onto Lin Luxi.

Finally rescued, Yue Xinghe, his back no longer burdened, closed his eyes and collapsed heavily onto Lin Luxi.

Lin Luxi panicked slightly and gently pushed him. “Yue… Yue Xinghe.”

Yue Xinghe remained unconscious, his eyes shut.

Outside, large excavation and rescue mechas were moving the collapsed structures. Lin Luxi gripped the fabric on Yue Xinghe’s back tightly, using his powers to subtly sense his injuries, and felt a slight sense of relief.

They were soon pulled out from the rubble.

Lin Luxi thought a long time had passed, but in reality, less than an hour had gone by.

Rescue efforts in the future were indeed incredibly swift.

Outside, the scene was still a little chaotic, spectators were clamoring, security guards were shouting to maintain order, school leaders were demanding answers, and media representatives waiting to interview the champion were asking questions loudly. All these voices merged into a jumble of noise.

The police arrived at the scene and worked with the security guards to calm the spectators. Gradually, the situation stabilized, and the audience quickly and orderly evacuated the competition venue through emergency exits.

Lin Luxi and the others who had been at the epicenter of the explosion were promptly sent to the school’s health center for medical examinations.

Zhou Ziheng, standing among the crowd on the periphery, watched Lin Luxi’s figure as he was taken to the school hospital. He clenched his fists, his expression dark.

Among those people, everyone else had at least a B-rank physique or higher. While they might have been pinned down by the debris, they would at most suffer minor cuts and bruises, nothing that would affect their core constitution.

Only Lin Luxi, with his useless physique, should have died in the explosion.

But now, he appeared completely unharmed. Meanwhile, Yue Xinghe, also at the center of the explosion, seemed to have sustained some internal injuries. Yet, if he had wanted to, he could have easily avoided getting hurt at all!

Zhou Ziheng’s mind was a mess. The failure of his plan left him unable to think calmly.

The only thought running through his head was: Could it be that Yue Xinghe truly regarded Lin Luxi as a friend he genuinely cared about?

Zhou Ziheng couldn’t help but twitch his face, jealousy gnawing at him as if he had eaten a pound of lemons.

They were taken to the school health center, which, though called a health center, was equipped with medical facilities and staff comparable to the best hospitals in the capital district.

Lin Luxi had some blood on his face. Several doctors and nurses gathered around him, but he pushed away their hands as they reached out to examine his injuries. “I’m fine. This blood isn’t mine, Yue Xinghe is injured. Go check on him.”

A nurse said, “Other doctors are examining him. Please cooperate with us for now.”

Lin Luxi frowned slightly. Only after confirming that Yue Xinghe’s bedside was indeed surrounded by doctors and nurses did he calm down.

The injury assessment came out quickly.

Aside from Yue Xinghe, whose injuries were more severe, the others had varying degrees of minor injuries. In addition to the cuts, bruises, and slight internal injuries sustained during the finals, Yue Xinghe had also been at the epicenter of the explosion, hit by the blast wave and searing heat, with dozens or even hundreds of tons of debris crashing down on his back.

So, despite having the strongest physique, Yue Xinghe was the one who suffered the most severe injuries.

The others had minor injuries, slight bone cracks, and mild concussions, each to varying extents.

No matter how severe the injuries, however, a few hours inside a treatment pod would take care of them.

Thank progress in medical technology.

Still, the brain, being the most crucial and delicate part, was beyond even the treatment pod’s ability to easily intervene. Concussions still required slow treatment with medication, so everyone remained resting in the ward, with occasional sounds of vomiting echoing around.

Gao Keyun vomited while cursing, “Fuck… ugh… don’t let me find out who’s behind this… ugh!”

Elisa frowned deeply, looking as pitiful as ever, but in the end, she couldn’t hold it back either. She leaned over the side of her bed and vomited, completely abandoning her usual composure.

Chris and Qin Hao were slightly better off but still felt a bit dizzy.

They were some distance from the epicenter of the explosion, so their injuries were not severe.

Lin Luxi was uninjured but was still pinned to bed by the nurse for rest. He couldn’t exactly say that his concussion had already been healed by his powers. After lying down for a while, he noticed that Yue Xinghe still hadn’t appeared, so he quickly called a nurse to ask.

“Yue’s condition is a bit unusual. He’s currently unconscious and hasn’t woken up yet. But don’t worry, our attending physician is the best neurology professor in the country. He’ll be fine.”

The nurse left in a hurry after offering reassurance. The others were still lying down, trying to ease the discomfort caused by their concussions, and hadn’t heard what the nurse said.

Even if they had, they probably wouldn’t have thought much of it. After all, Yue Xinghe was a double-S-rank elite. How could a mere explosion take him down?

Lin Luxi pushed aside his blanket and got out of bed. Leaving the ward, he asked a nurse for directions and found Yue Xinghe’s room.

He stood outside, looking through the transparent window. Yue Xinghe lay on the bed, wearing a respirator, his expression relatively calm.

Lin Luxi unconsciously picked at the glass for a while, then caught his own reflection in it. His expression was somewhat dazed, on closer look, there was a hint of unease.

He rubbed his eyes, then vigorously rubbed his cheeks. He stood there, lost in thought for a moment before finally sitting down on the yellow waiting chair outside.

He lowered his head, leaving only the top of his silver hair visible, his entire face hidden in the shadows.
