Viktor’s fingers clenched tightly.
"I will not let the Alpha King destroy the Draven Pack. You don’t need to worry about that."
"Cassian and I met a powerful werewolf last night on our way home. He knows Liliana’s secret," Mega said.
"Why didn’t you tell me about it last night?" Viktor asked.
"At first, I thought it wouldn’t cause any trouble after you brought the magical device to hide Liliana’s ability, and Olive was able to change Liliana’s hair back."
"But..." Mega fell silent for a moment. "After hearing everything today, perhaps they are the Alpha King’s people, deliberately sent into our pack’s territory."
Viktor let out a heavy breath.
"I will go see Olive."
"Liliana’s facial wound has to be restored. She can’t come to the Academy looking like this."
Mega nodded in agreement.
"That’s the best course of action."
After discussing many things with Mega, Viktor returned to his room to see Olive.
"Darling, you’re back so soon?" Olive asked when she saw Viktor enter their room.
Viktor walked toward Olive. "Olive, it seems that there are already spies who have infiltrated our pack."
He sat on the edge of the bed.
"Have you suspected anyone?" Olive asked.
"Not yet. Mega and I will watch the pack elders first."
Olive nodded in agreement. "What do you need me to do?" she asked.
"Prepare medicine to restore the wound on Liliana’s face to how it was before."
Olive frowned. "Why?"
"Liliana’s existence will be in danger if her current appearance becomes known to the people of the empire."
"I’ll discuss this with Liliana. You only need to help me make the medicine," Viktor added.
Olive stared at Viktor’s face for a few moments before finally nodding.
"I’ll try to make it starting now. Liliana’s body is already different from before. I can’t make it at the usual speed."
"I trust your abilities, Olive," Viktor said as he embraced Olive.
Olive said nothing. She simply returned Viktor’s embrace in silence.
"You’ve worked hard. Don’t push yourself too much," Olive said.
Viktor smiled upon hearing those words. "This pack needs me, Olive. If I don’t push myself..."
Viktor pulled back slightly and looked at Olive’s still-beautiful face.
"Not only will I lose you, but also Cassian and Liliana, our daughter."
Olive smiled at the words that came from Viktor’s mouth.
"We will always be by your side. Rely on us. Don’t carry the burden of the pack on your shoulders alone, Viktor."
Olive embraced Viktor again, trying to give her Alpha a place to lean on, even if only for a moment.
When night fell, Viktor went to Liliana’s room.
"Father!" Liliana exclaimed when she saw Viktor standing in front of her open bedroom door.
Viktor walked closer and gently stroked Liliana’s silver hair.
"Liliana."
"Yes, Father."
"Are you willing to restore the wound on your face?" Viktor asked as he sat on the chair in Liliana’s room.
Liliana looked up.
"Does Father not like my face the way it is now?"
She remembered what Viktor had said at the dining table a few days ago.
"How could Father hate it?"
"Then? Is this because of my power?"
"Hmm." Viktor nodded.
"There is someone who knows about your power, and this is clearly not good for you in the future."
Liliana looked at Viktor. One of her hands slowly touched her face, which had felt so smooth over the past few days.
"Father, I like my face the way it is now. But if this will cause trouble for me and the people around me in the future, I don’t mind using my previous appearance."
"Forgive me, but this is for your own good. The Academy is not a place where the Draven family can hold power. Wait until Father regains his position in the capital. Father promises that you will be able to use your current face."
Liliana smiled, then threw herself into Viktor’s embrace. "Father, I’ll look forward to that day."
Viktor smiled and gently patted her back. "You will."
"Get some rest. Tomorrow afternoon, you and Cassian will leave for the Academy. Don’t stay up too late. Father will take care of everything for you tonight."
Liliana nodded. "Alright, Father."
After Liliana’s bedroom door closed, Viktor walked toward Cassian’s room.
Viktor entered his room without knocking.
"What are you doing?" Viktor asked with a dark expression.
"F-Father..."
Cassian stammered. He hurriedly cleared the table in front of him.
"Are you studying cooking recipes again?" Viktor asked with a displeased expression.
"Father, I was only reading them because I was bored. Auntie lent them to me. Besides, at the Academy, I also have to make sure Liliana doesn’t starve to death. So, I intended to study them before going to the Academy."
"Are you planning to kill Liliana quickly with your cooking?" Viktor asked.
"Father, how can you say that?" Cassian protested.
"Throw away all these human cooking recipes. Don’t show your abilities at the Academy, Cassian." Viktor looked at him seriously.
"Remember, werewolves have always been enemies of humans. Stop using things from their race outside our pack’s territory."
Cassian tightened his fingers before nodding. "Alright, Father."
Viktor looked at Cassian’s face, then nodded in satisfaction. "Sit down. There is something Father needs to discuss with you."
Cassian sat on the chair in front of Viktor and looked at him.
"The Beaumont Pack has just sent a letter to our pack."
"The Beaumont Pack?" Cassian asked.
"They are asking about Liliana’s whereabouts."
"Didn’t they already sever ties with her? Why are they still looking for her?" Cassian asked displeasedly.
Viktor took a letter from his pocket and handed it to Cassian. "Read it and understand."
Cassian slowly opened it. "Huh?! They’re looking for their runaway servant?"
Cassian’s face immediately darkened. "Do they still dare to think that Liliana is their servant?"
"There’s something else. Read it to the end," Viktor ordered.
A few moments later, Cassian looked at the letter again.
"They know that our pack has acknowledged Liliana as our family. Now they want us to hand her back? Do they think they’re the Alpha King?"
"Father only wanted to tell you this. You don’t need to worry about anything else."
Viktor looked at Cassian calmly. "Father has already investigated. When Liliana was a servant of the Beaumont Pack, she did not sign a blood contract. She only worked voluntarily for Valerie, the younger sister of the future Beaumont Alpha."
Cassian snorted. "Even if Liliana had signed one, do they think they could treat her like a low-ranking servant?"
"Control your anger, Cassian." Viktor looked at Cassian seriously.
"Isn’t Liliana officially your younger sister now? Father granted your wish two years ago. So, it’s time for you to repay your promise."
