The man bent down, pulled a white pill from his pocket, and forced Liliana to swallow it.
Liliana wanted to refuse, she tried to spit the pill back out. She knew this man was dangerous and no less cruel than Adrian and Alaric Beaumont, the two Alphas who had rejected her.
Cassian smiled cynically as he saw the panic in Liliana’s eyes. "Shift now. Do you really like being a wolf that much?"
Liliana opened her mouth to speak, but something inside her prevented her from uttering a single word. Cassian frowned, realizing Liliana had no intention of obeying him, instead, she remained silent, like a mindless wolf.
"Damn... is this really the wolf my aunt wanted to bring into our pack?" Cassian muttered in confusion.
Liliana looked up into Cassian’s eyes. Deep down, she wanted to punch that annoying man in the face, but her body refused to cooperate. A mouthful of fresh blood trickled from the corner of her lips before her vision slowly darkened.
Cassian was stunned for a moment, then nudged Liliana’s body with his foot. "Hey... why did you fall asleep? Are you that scared of me? Not only are you too scared to shift forms, you’re not even brave enough to speak?"
"Ugh!!" Cassian snorted in annoyance, then took out his bottle of white pills and examined it again. "Isn’t this the right one... these are painkillers, right?"
He fell silent for a moment, then reached into his pocket again and found another bottle of pills, this one yellowish-white. Cassian cleared his throat softly, then put the bottle back in his pocket. "You just took the wrong sleeping pills. Don’t worry," he said finally.
He easily hoisted Liliana’s wolf form onto his shoulders, then carried her toward the Alpha’s main residence. The pack meeting should be over by now. I can ask Mom to treat this poor wolf, he thought.
Cassian carried Liliana to the guest room in his residence and set her down carefully without realizing it.
"Did you give her the wrong medicine again?" asked Olive, Cassian’s mother, who had been watching him since he arrived at the residence.
"It wasn’t as bad as the last time, Mom. I just gave her a sleeping pill. Besides, she was shot with a human hunter’s bullet. That way, won’t it be easier for you to remove the bullet? At least you won’t have to inject any additional anesthetic."
Olive scoffed. "Step outside for a moment. Your father is calling for you. He wants to discuss something with your aunt as well."
Cassian nodded and walked toward his father’s office, Viktor, the Alpha of the Draven Pack.
"Dad?"
"Sit down," Viktor ordered.
Mega was already sitting next to Viktor’s chair, staring at Cassian without saying a word.
...
As morning approached, Liliana slowly opened her eyes. Her body felt much lighter than it had the night before, even though she was still in her wolf form.
Silver... she called silently, trying to sense her wolf’s presence. She wanted to apologize for her decision last night. But there was no answer. Panic began to show in her dark eyes. Silver... she called once more.
Is Silver... Liliana shook her head frantically. No. If Silver were gone, I certainly wouldn’t be able to take his form.
Liliana stood frozen for a few seconds, then nodded to reassure herself. I have to go see Mrs. Mega. She must know why Silver isn’t answering me.
Liliana hurried out of the luxurious room, different from the one she’d stayed in the day before and walked down the hallway of the house. "Why am I just going in circles? Is there no one in this house?" she muttered in confusion. This mansion was clearly much larger than the Beaumont family’s home. Finding her way out felt incredibly difficult for her.
Five minutes later, Liliana arrived in the dining room. A large group of people had already gathered there, sitting quietly and enjoying their breakfast. But instantly, all eyes turned to Liliana, who was standing in the doorway in her silver wolf form. The sight seemed strange.
Mega looked at her for a moment, then waved her hand. "Come here," she called.
Liliana lowered her head, trying to hide her embarrassment, then walked over to Mega’s seat at the table.
"Didn’t I already tell you? We don’t mind the scars on your face," Mega said gently.
Cassian looked at Liliana and snorted. "Are you so afraid of me that you don’t dare return to your human form in front of us?"
Liliana looked up at Cassian, then growled softly in response.
"Change your form," Mega interrupted. "Your silver fur is indeed beautiful, but that doesn’t mean you have to appear before us in wolf form all the time."
Liliana bowed her head deeply. "Mrs. Mega... I don’t know how to return to my human form," she said in a voice choked with embarrassment.
"Hahahaha!!" Cassian’s laughter erupted, filling the room. "What a bunch of stupid wolves! No wonder they cast you out!"
Viktor and Olive cleared their throats loudly, signaling Cassian to keep his mouth shut.
"Were you never taught? Then how did you manage to turn into a wolf?" Olive asked in surprise.
Normally, every werewolf who has just come of age and successfully summoned their wolf would receive basic training from their family or pack. But Liliana had never received any at all.
"I just rely on my instincts," Liliana replied.
Mega looked at Liliana, then alternately at Olive and Viktor. They exchanged glances and nodded in agreement.
"Can you communicate with your wolf?"
"Not yet."
Mega already knew this, she just wanted to be sure. "Use your instincts. Imagine your human form," she instructed, keeping her eyes on Liliana.
Liliana followed Mega’s instructions. And in an instant, she returned to her human form. She quickly bowed her head. "I’m sorry."
Viktor stood up from his chair immediately. Seeing this, Liliana hurriedly said, "I’ll leave. I’m sorry for ruining your appetite."
Without waiting for an answer, she turned to leave the room. But Viktor’s hand was already gripping her shoulder.
"Are you Liliana Forst?" he asked firmly.
"I-I..."
"Do you want to join my group?"
Liliana’s body tensed before she turned to face him. "Are you willing to accept me? I just need a place to hide. I won’t betray you, and I promise to obey all your pack’s rules."
Viktor stared intently into Liliana’s eyes. "But I don’t like useless members."
"I could be a servant in your household."
"I have no shortage of servants." Viktor snapped his fingers, and instantly, dozens of servants who had been invisible appeared in the dining room in an orderly fashion.
Liliana swallowed hard at the sight of them. She knew that every servant here clearly possessed abilities on par with Valerie’s guardian Beta.
"Then what do you want?"
"Become my daughter. If you agree, I’ll accept you as a member of the pack."
Liliana was stunned. She was certain this wasn’t just a stroke of luck. She wasn’t as beautiful as Valerie. It was impossible for someone to be willing to adopt her as a daughter without expecting something in return.
"What would I have to do if I accepted the position as your daughter?"
