Cassian Valmont.
Because he knew himself….if that memory came back?
He had no clue if he or anyone close to him could survive the wrath it would bring with it.
“Cassian Valmont, you have been found guilty and hereby order—”
“Your M-Majesty…!!!!!”
“Your Majesty!
Not good!”
Voices filled the air as three people rushed in through the double doors the princess had just used, each of them in a state of panic but one of them still had an arrow stuck to his shoulders as he was pulled in by the others.
The palour of his skin looked so sickly and pale and Cassian almost smiled when he saw who it was.
<This guard should have been with the Crown Prince but maybe he had somehow survived the attack and rushed here to make a report.>
<How nice of him!>
<In his past life, when he had gone through that same path with the Crown Prince, he had been the one the took instead as he had fought tooth and nail to help the Crown Prince escape and bring back reinforcements to save him.>
<Where exactly had this guard been then?>
<Why hadn’t he rushed over here to make this same report?>
<Was it because he and the Crown Prince were two different individuals and in his previous life, this guard had pushed the though of saving him away from his mind.>
<How ruthless this people had been against him!>
<How bad they had treated him and how foolish he had been for not realizing it sooner until he had to die to do that.>
<Wicked bastards!>
<His thoughts of giving the all up to those barbarians invading at the southern border rushed through his mind with great fervor as he though of the benefits he could have with it.>
<The revenge he would finally be able to enact.>
<He wasn’t all those fools in cinemas who thought that because they still hadn’t done anything in this life then they had no reason to get their revenge on them.>
<No, no, no.>
<He woul—>
“This is the royal court!
Maintain some decorum and decency!”
The Eldest Prince Trevor’s voice barked out loud and the trip shuddered before they all fell to their knees and bowed their heads to the ground while uttering word of apologies.
“Now, what is it?” The King asked and it was the bleeding guard who instantly began to speak with an urgent voice.
“T-the C-Crown P-Prince has been taken away, k-kidnapped by a man he had been interrogating earlier today and no one knows where they had taken him to!”
The entire court went silent at those words as all eyes slowly turned towards the third son of the Count who was still in his kneeling position but now, his lips had adopted a laid back and carefree smile that seemed to mock their very intelligence at that moment.
The words had struck the members of the court like a bolt of lightning asa complete and utter silence.
It was as though every sound inside the throne room had been swallowed whole as ministers who had been clamoring for Cassian’s punishment only moments ago stood frozen where they were.
One elderly noble’s walking cane slipped from his trembling fingers and clattered loudly against the polished marble floor but no one bent to retrieve it.
The only sound that remained was the ragged breathing of the wounded guard kneeling before the throne as even he king’s fingers slowly tightened around the armrest of his throne.
“How could this be possible?”
“The crown prince has really been kidnapped like he said?”
“I’m tempted to think this kid is a jinx!”
“Jinx?
Stop with your religious nonsense, Royal assistant!”
“How could it have been true?”
“Is it possible that there’s merit to what this boy says?”
“Then viscount….”
The murmurs grew louder as every single noble suddenly found themselves remembering the boy’s earlier words.
It had been one prediction and then another and now…the Crown Prince truly had been kidnapped.
Was it a coincidence?Or was it something far more terrifying?
Fear began replacing skepticism.
All eyes slowly shifted to the viscount in question who paid them no attention as he stared straight at the throne, body coiled tightly with a tension only he could understand.
A bead of sweat slowly rolled down the Viscount’s temple as his carefully cultivated composure was beginning to crack.
The boy…how much did he actually know and how much has he said already?
Everything the boy had spoken had become reality.
If he truly knew, then staying here any longer might be the greatest mistake of his life.
He had thought that since they had all agreed and confirmed that the words of this boy weren’t true at all, then he had no trouble with staying till the end of the session.
But with the arrival of this guard, more issues seemed to have begun to arise and he didn’t know for how long he would be safe for, before he really had to make a move.
His eyes shifted, catching sights of metallic glinting from the crevices of the throne room and a small sense of relief filled a portion of his heart.
Good, they were all here.
<How nice!>
Cassian’s thought broadcasted to the whole place as he leaned back into his palms and actually let out a wolfish grin as he stared at the unfolding drama.
Cassian lazily rested his weight against his palms, looking every bit like a spectator enjoying a rather riveting stage play.
Panic, fear and confusion….
<Every emotion he had once suffered through was now blooming across the faces of the people who had ignored him in his previous life.>
It was…
<Beautiful.>
<He would be the first to suffer on my list and if he isn’t dead when they’re done with him?
I’ll just have to pay that decrepit place a visit and leave a little amount of money for them to complete the job.>
<Ahhh, isn’t this nice?>
<The king’s reward in gold that is still in my house would be the same money that I use to finish his son off!>
<The king indirectly killing his son!>
<How great!>
<What a wonderful pl—>
“Brother Lysan?”
The small voice of princess Claire asked in surprise and Cassian instantly snapped his head towards the girl who was already upon her feet as she stared at the guards with watery eyes.
Claire’s lips trembled.
“No…”
Her voice was barely louder than a whisper as she mumbled almost to herself once again.
“Brother Lysan…”
She took an unsteady step forward before another as tears instantly filled her eyes and one even trailed down the sides of her left cheek.
“You’re lying…father, he must be lying, right?”
The entire court felt their entire blood run cold the longer they listened to the voice of these boy as even the king felt fear rush through his heart.
He had no words to say at all as he felt his entire being be washed up with a chilling water that wasn’t real but the coldness from it was seeping straight into his very bones.
How had he even gotten to this place?
This boy hated them so much that he wanted to kill them all off and from what he was seeing, it seemed as if he wasn’t just bluffing.
He could comb the entire kingdom in search of his son but that would take a lot of time that they didn’t have an would only push his son’s kidnappers into doing whatever they had planned to do much earlier.
If this boy refuses to even utter the name of the place Lysander was in even in his mind then this whole situation had already turned much murkier than he thought it would.
His sharp fingers dug so deeply into the armrests that the polished wood let out a quiet groan as rage surged through him.
Terri soon followed and then regret.
Somewhere along the way or somehow in a way he didn’t still know or understand, he had failed this child so completely that he now wished death upon his own family without even the slightest hesitation.
Yet none of that mattered at this moment because every passing second he wasted here, his eldest son was slipping farther beyond his reach.
<Don’t cry….>
<Why was she crying for that bastard?!>
<She shouldn’t be crying for him!>
<I really want to kill him…I’m sorry, Claire but my mind remans unchanged on this.
The Crown Prince Lysander must die and he must die today’s evening.>
THUD!!!!
The sound of a body falling filled the air and all eyes turned towards the direction it had come from only to find the figure of Count Valmont unconscious on the floor, sweat drenched and his entire form quivering as if even in his unconscious state, he was still afraid of something.
[New Gossip Discovered.]
Cassian blinked in sheer surprise at those words as when he began to think that this system thingy had had enough trouble for one day, it instantly started with another.
<…Again?>
[The eight assassins hidden inside the royal palace have begun their operation.]
[Estimated time before they strike: Three minutes.]
Cassian slowly smiled as he sat down on the ground and began to slowly dust his hands.
Today was going to be a very long day for everyone here…
<Looks like the fun’s only just beginning.>
Um…okay
