The universe stopped.
Not slowed.
Not frozen.
Stopped.
Stars hung motionless in the darkness.
Light ceased to travel.
Even the fragments of shattered moons remained suspended in the void.
Kael stood beside Liora, his hand still wrapped around the broken sword.
For the first time since his Awakening—
he could not hear anything.
No heartbeat.
No wind.
No System.
No voice.
Nothing.
Then—
CRACK.
A line appeared across the sky.
It was not a crack in space.
It was a crack in reality itself.
Something opened its eye beyond it.
An eye larger than worlds.
Liora instinctively stepped closer to Kael.
“Kael…”
“I know.”
The First King stood several hundred meters away.
His face had lost all arrogance.
He was afraid.
Kael looked at him.
“You said nothing could frighten you.”
The First King didn't answer.
Instead, he whispered—
“That's not true.”
Kael narrowed his eyes.
“What is it?”
The First King looked toward the enormous eye.
“The Law.”
The word echoed through existence.
Then the voice came.
Not loud.
Not quiet.
It simply was.
“VIOLATION DETECTED.”
The universe trembled.
“THE HOLDER OF ABSOLUTE AUTHORITY HAS REJECTED EQUIVALENT EXCHANGE.”
Kael tightened his grip on his sword.
“So?”
“THE HOLDER HAS ALTERED THE RULE.”
Kael stared upward.
“And?”
For several seconds, there was silence.
Then—
“THEREFORE, THE HOLDER SHALL BE CORRECTED.”
A beam of white light descended.
Kael raised his sword.
BOOM!
The entire Outer Realm shattered.
Liora was thrown backward.
“LIORA!”
Kael disappeared.
He reappeared beside her before she could fall.
He caught her.
She looked at him.
“I'm okay.”
Kael looked at the enormous wound spreading across reality.
His expression remained calm.
But something inside him felt strange.
Normally, he would have felt fear.
Anger.
Urgency.
Instead—
nothing.
Just calculation.
Liora noticed.
Her face changed.
“Kael.”
He looked at her.
“You're doing it again.”
“Doing what?”
“You're looking at me like you know I'm important.”
Kael said nothing.
“But you're not feeling it.”
His eyes lowered.
She was right.
He knew she mattered.
He remembered her childhood smile.
He remembered their first fight.
He remembered her bringing him food when he forgot to eat.
He remembered promising that he would never leave her.
But the emotions attached to those memories were becoming distant.
Like photographs from someone else's life.
Liora grabbed his hand.
“Then remember this.”
Kael looked at her fingers.
“You don't need to feel everything right now.”
She squeezed his hand.
“You just need to choose.”
Something moved inside Kael.
Not emotion.
Something deeper.
Choice.
He raised his broken sword.
The Law spoke again.
“SURRENDER AUTHORITY.”
Kael smiled faintly.
“No.”
“COMPLY.”
“No.”
“YOU ARE A CREATION OF THE LAW.”
Kael looked upward.
“Then you should know something.”
The air around him began to distort.
“I don't belong to my creator.”
The broken sword began glowing.
The First King stared.
“What are you doing?”
Kael stepped forward.
“I’m going to fight the rule itself.”
The First King’s eyes widened.
“You can't fight the Law!”
Kael glanced back.
“Why?”
“Because everything exists under it!”
Kael turned toward the enormous eye.
“Then I'll become something that doesn't.”
The universe trembled.
For the first time—
the Law hesitated.
“IMPOSSIBLE.”
Kael smiled.
“That's what everyone keeps telling me.”
He raised his sword.
Absolute Authority awakened.
But this time—
Kael did not command reality.
He commanded himself.
His memories.
His choices.
His identity.
Everything that remained of Kael Ardyn gathered inside the broken blade.
The Law attacked.
Kael swung.
BOOOOOOM!
The two forces collided.
The Outer Realm disappeared beneath the impact.
Liora covered her eyes.
The First King fell to one knee.
And somewhere beyond the boundaries of existence—
something laughed.
A second voice.
Older than the Law.
Older than the First King.
Older than Absolute Authority itself.
“Interesting.”
Kael's eyes widened.
The Law turned.
For the first time—
it looked afraid.
The voice spoke again.
“The boy has awakened.”
Kael lowered his sword.
“Who are you?”
A silhouette appeared beyond the crack in reality.
It had no face.
No body.
Only two golden eyes.
Then it answered—
“The one who created the Law.”
Silence.
The First King whispered:
“No…”
The golden eyes focused on Kael.
“And you, Kael Ardyn…”
The silhouette smiled.
“…are the mistake I have been waiting sixteen years to correct.”
Kael's grip tightened around his sword.
Liora stepped beside him.
Kael looked at her.
Then at the golden eyes.
For the first time in a long time—
he felt something.
Not fear.
Not anger.
Something small.
Something human.
Determination.
Kael smiled.
“Then come correct me.”
The golden eyes opened completely.
And the entire universe screamed.
