ZARYA ROGOV

I stood outside his room’s door.

They were stuck.

My thoughts ran wild with haunting possibilities.

Why did he call me?

What would he do?

I took a deep breath and knocked on the door.

My hands were already trembling.

“Get in.” His voice rang in my ears like some horror spell.

When I entered the room, I closed the door behind me and fisted my hands at my sides.

His broad back faced me as he stood near the floor-to-ceiling glass wall.

The curtains no longer hid the outside world.

His hands were in his pants pocket, and his stance was one of extreme dominance and danger.

“Uh…I didn’t p-put that much salt in it.

I-I don’t know how that happened.

You c-can ask Alek.

H-He was there a-all the time.” I tried to explain myself like a pathetic loser.

He didn’t answer; instead, he moved towards the side table and grabbed his phone, probably calling Alek.

He told the old man to come to the room, and when he came, he first gave me a good look of uncertainty before looking at Sergei.

Sergei slowly turned to face us.

His hard gaze fell on me, making me look anywhere but him.

“Tell me, did you see her mixing that poisonous amount of salt in the food?…

Did she do it?” Sergei asked.

Alek first looked at me.

I stared at him with hope, knowing if Natasha took my side, he would too, but…

“Yes, sir.

When I was a little distracted with the other servants, I saw her mixing excessive salt in the dishes.” My eyes slowly enlarged at his words.

He was accusing me.

He was lying.

I shook my head, staring at him in disbelief.

“Huh…”

“Then why didn’t you inform me of this beforehand?” Sergei asked.

Alek, ignoring me like I didn’t exist, answered him with unshakeable confidence.

“She is your wife, and I didn’t want to disrespect or accuse her in any way.

I thought I was seeing things.” My lips parted as he continued to make sugar-coated lies.

“W-Why…Why are you lying?” I asked.

The old man didn’t look at me.

It was like I didn’t exist for him.

“You can leave, Alek,” Sergei ordered, his voice roughened.

He sounded like my destruction.

The old man slightly bowed at him and then at me before walking out of the room.

The audacity to bow to me, acting all truthful and honest after lying like that.

Why would he do that? This story is hosted at g.com.

I snapped my head towards Sergei, and he was already looking at me.

A predator sizing up its prey.

“He’s lying.” I retaliated with a look of disbelief clouding my features.

This mansion was filled with so much deception.

How was I going to even survive here?

‘Take my hand,’ whispered the devil.

No!

“Alek has been working here ever since I was a child.

Whereas, you are a Rogov.

Why would I even trust you?” He asked as he began to take slow, deliberate steps towards me.

His gait screaming predator.

Right.

Why would he even trust a Rogov?

Being married to him, facing him every day, was enough of a suffering now that I have to face deception, lies, and whatnot.

This mansion was much more than it showed; it always has.

How do I even defend myself in this situation?

I was cornered with him towering over me once again, but this time, I didn’t cover my shoulders, trying to disappear.

“If you think your rebellion will work, you need to come back to reality.

The more you try to bite back, the more I will tighten the leash.”

“I’m not a dog.” I refuted.

This was infuriating.

I did nothing.

Listened to him just to avoid getting in this situation, yet here I was.

Being obedient got me nowhere.

He raised a brow at me, and his hand gripped my chin in a rough grip.

His eyes lingered on my parted lips for a little too long.

I gripped his wrist, trying to pull his hand away from my chin, but his grip tightened.

“Then what are you…Zarya?” He asked.

Who even am I?

“A h-human being.” I answered, my eyes tearing up at his disrespect.

The corner of his lips curved up.

“Do you know how I treat your kind?” He asked while letting go of my chin.

I narrowed my teary eyes at him, knowing exactly where he was going.

He slowly leaned down, making me turn my face to the left.

His hot breath fanned my ear and my neck.

“I put them in their grave.” He whispered arrogantly.

I tightly shut my eyes.

“Th-then kill me too.” My words held bitterness.

I hated his arrogance, his power, and him.

His low chuckle had a shiver running down my spine.

My hands shot up against his chest as I tried to maintain some distance, but he pressed closer.

My eyes remained shut. Follow the newest chapters on g.com.

“Have you forgotten the promise I made?” He asked.

Promise?

What promise?

When did he make a promise?

I slowly opened my eyes.

“The only one who can kill you is me, not any destiny.

I promised to take your life and I eventually will now that you are in my hands.

Slowly…painfully.”

Huh?

When did he promise me that?

“W-Why?” I asked.

“Revenge…” My orbs throbbed.

Revenge?

What kind of revenge was he having on me?

Am I missing something?

Before I could ask something, he interrupted.

“Now,” he gripped my arms, pulling me closer to himself.

His scent made my nose twitch.

His closeness made my body go stiff.

“The punishment for disrespect.”

“Huh!” My eyes widened, but before I could react properly, he pulled me towards the dressing table so that I could look at myself.

My breath was knocked out of my system when I saw his reflection right behind me, still holding my arms.

His eyes fixed on mine through the mirror.

He looked dangerously rugged, cold, and exactly my ruination.

“What is the most precious thing you have right now?” He whispered in my ear.

His deep voice and warm breath gave me goosebumps.

“Look…I didn’t d-do anything.

I didn’t pu-put th-” I tried to defend myself, knowing it’s useless, but even then I got interrupted by him.

“Answer me.” He growled in my ear, a growl resembling that of a beast.

I trembled, choking on my sob.

“I d-don’t know.” I barely managed to speak through my restricted throat.

He pulled my arms behind my back, holding my wrist with his left hand as he pulled me closer against his front.

I could feel his ruthless warmth.

It made me nauseated.

My heart thudded loudly in fear of my punishment.

I shouldn’t have listened to him at all.

“Surely…I know.” He said, staring intensely at me through the mirror until I found his eyes trailing down my body, sitting on my breast for a little too long.

“No!” I tried to struggle, but it was no use against him.

“Who do you think you are?” I cried out in panic.

“Your husband.”

“Your master.”

“Everything you should have in your mind.”

“Either bow down…or I’ll stomp you under my feet.”

Tears trickled down my face.

I was helpless against his strength, his power, and the accusations.

“Bend over.”

His command took my breath away.
