The city looked different at night.

The bright lights that usually filled the streets were now blurred behind a curtain of heavy rain.

The sound of water hitting the roads echoed everywhere, turning the busy city into a quiet and lonely place.Full novel: The Rain that changed everything — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

It was late.

Very late.

The Mehra Group office was almost empty when Vishesh finally stepped out.

It had been a long day filled with meetings, decisions, and endless responsibilities.

He walked towards his car, adjusting his coat as the cold rain touched his face.

For a moment, he simply stood there.

The rain.

The silence.

The empty road.

Something about the night felt strangely familiar.

But he pushed the thought away.

He had learned not to look back.

Vishesh started the car and drove towards home.

The windshield wipers moved constantly, fighting against the heavy rainfall.

The road ahead was almost invisible, covered in a mixture of darkness and rain.

His hands held the steering wheel firmly.

His eyes remained focused on the road.

But his mind was somewhere else.

For a few moments, everything became quiet.

Then suddenly—

A memory.

Rain.

Heavy rain pouring from the sky.

A car moving at high speed through the wet road.

A different time.

A different night.

A different Vishesh.

Inside the car, there was laughter.

A voice.

A smile.

A moment when everything felt perfect.

The girl beside him.

The happiness he thought would last forever.

The sound of rain mixed with their voices.

The feeling of having someone beside him.

And then—

A sudden turn.

A moment of fear.

The road disappearing in front of them.

The sound of tires losing control.

A crash.

A loud horn.

A sharp screech.

A violent sound.

Vishesh suddenly came back to reality.

His car shook slightly as he reacted to the vehicle ahead.

He pressed the brakes hard.

The tires screamed against the wet road.

For a second, his breathing stopped.

He sat frozen.

His heart was racing.

His hands tightened around the steering wheel.

The sound.

That sound.

The same sound that still followed him in his memories.

He closed his eyes.

“Not again…”

His breathing became heavier.

He looked around, reminding himself where he was.

He was not there.

It was not that night.

It was now.

After a few moments, Vishesh started driving again.

But the memory had disturbed him.

The calm businessman image had disappeared for a moment.

Only a man carrying an old pain remained.

Then suddenly, through the heavy rain, he noticed something on the side of the road.

A car was standing with its bonnet open.

A girl was standing beside it.

Alone.

In the rain.

Vishesh slowed down.

The girl was trying to fix something under the open bonnet of the car.

Her clothes were soaked from the rain.

Her hair was wet and falling over her face.

She looked frustrated.

She tried starting the car again.

Nothing happened.

She picked up her phone and checked it.

But from her expression, it was clear.

The phone was not working.

She sighed in frustration.

“Perfect…

just perfect.”

The heavy rain continued falling around her.

For some reason, Vishesh couldn’t just drive away.

He watched her for a few seconds.

Maybe it was because she looked helpless.

Maybe it was because the situation reminded him of something he couldn’t explain.

Or maybe some moments in life happen before we understand why.

He slowly parked his car.

For a moment, he stayed inside.

His old habit told him to leave.

Don’t get involved.

Don’t let emotions control decisions.

But something inside him disagreed.

He looked at the girl standing alone in the storm.

Then he opened the car door.

The rain immediately soaked his clothes.

He stepped out and walked towards her.

The girl looked up, surprised.

For the first time that night, their eyes met.

Neither of them knew it yet.

But this unexpected meeting in the middle of a storm was about to change both their lives forever.
