When he noticed that the expression of several guests did not look very good, the director could not help adding a few words, “Ahem. Of course, we have also arranged some simple tasks in the Heartbeat House to ensure that guests can easily earn Heartbeat Coins.”
Upon hearing that, the guests had not reacted yet, but the viewers already could not hold back.
【I strongly suspect the director’s idea of ‘easy’ is not the same as ours!】
【Exactly. Just look at the guests. Less than four hours into the livestream, and they’re already in this state!】
【By the way, since they’ll be at the Heartbeat House, doesn’t this mean it’s time to start assigning the werewolf identity?】
【Um, I’m new here. Can someone explain why there’s a werewolf in a dating show?】
【Here I come, the science-popularization buddy online. It’s like this— this dating show is called 《Lover’s Trap》 because it introduces a werewolf game element. The production team will randomly select one guest among the eight to receive the werewolf identity card. According to the rules, the werewolf is not allowed to date, so when shipping CPs in this show, proceed with caution. You might end up with a broken heart.】
【The production team is playing this wild?】
【Tell me about it.】
While the barrage was still discussing the show’s werewolf mechanics, the director also began introducing the relevant rules to the guests.
“Well, here’s how it works. The production team will randomly choose one guest and grant them the werewolf identity. The guest who becomes the werewolf is not allowed to engage in romance. The other seven guests must identify and eliminate the werewolf during the show. There will be a vote every seven days. Each failed elimination will result in all guests receiving a punishment from the production team, so please take this seriously.”
The guests, who had still been fixated on Heartbeat Coins, were successfully distracted by the director.
Listening to his words, some guests showed nothing on their faces, but tension had already crept into their hearts.
Honestly, none of them wanted to be the unlucky one chosen as the werewolf.
After all, being selected as the werewolf not only meant losing the chance to form CPs and reap benefits, but also potentially bearing the resentment of the other seven guests and their fans.
As the guests sat in the production team’s vehicle, deep in thought over the announcement, they had unknowingly arrived in front of a luxurious villa.
Clearly, this was the ‘Heartbeat House’ prepared for them.
When the vehicle slowly came to a stop, the staff inside collected the guests’ phones in front of the livestream, sealed them in bags, and then handed each guest an old-style phone.
Looking at the phone that could only send texts and make calls, Shen Aofu’s face was full of disdain. “Director, can’t you give us a phone that can access the internet? This thing is practically the same age as my dad, okay?”
Hearing that, the director firmly shook his head. “Giving one directly is not allowed. But if you have enough Heartbeat Coins, you can exchange them for your own phone through the production team. Five Heartbeat Coins per hour. Do you want to exchange?”
That answer completely choked off whatever Shen Aofu had wanted to say.
Heaven knew that what she lacked most right now was Heartbeat Coins.
Thinking of that, Shen Aofu could not help but resent Su Zhi even more. It was only after leaving the haunted house that she learned her elimination had been indirectly caused by Su Zhi’s group triggering the battle royale mode.
If she had not been eliminated, her Heartbeat Coins would not be so tight right now!
The more Shen Aofu thought about it, the worse her expression became.
Other guests who shared similar thoughts fell silent as well when they saw how ugly her face looked after being shut down by the director.
Watching the guests begin accepting the old-fashioned phones, the director nodded in satisfaction. “Alright, your main livestream location for the near future will be the Heartbeat House. During this time, please follow the rules of the Heartbeat House.”
With that, he waved at the guests and left without a hint of mercy.
The guests stared blankly at the director’s departing back. Su Zhi, however, directly pushed open the door in front of her and strolled into the villa.
Her actions snapped the others out of it. Jiang Guxue even jogged after Su Zhi.
When all eight guests entered the villa, what greeted them was a massive blackboard. At the very top were three large words, ‘Heartbeat House Rules’.
Seeing those words, several guests shuddered and immediately began reading the rules carefully.
While the guests were reading, the viewers were also discussing the rules.
【Um, did anyone with fast hands screenshot it? The guests are blocking the blackboard. I can’t see the rules.】
【I’m here. The rules are as follows:
1. Before the end of the show, guests may neither reject nor accept any confession.
2. Every night at 10 p.m., guests must send one Heartbeat Message to a member of the opposite sex.
3. The guest who draws the werewolf identity may choose to send one additional anonymous message to any guest after 10 p.m.
4. Guests in the Heartbeat House must pay the production team 30 Heartbeat Coins per day. If unable to pay, they may choose to complete tasks to offset the debt or live in the production team’s RV.
5. Other rules to be discovered.】
After seeing the first four rules, viewers all frowned.
【The more I look at this, the more it feels like the production team is deliberately stirring trouble. Especially the rule where the werewolf can send anonymous messages. That’s basically telling the werewolf outright, ‘Here’s your chance to muddy the waters, go cause chaos!’】
【Hahaha, as a melon-eating[1]being a bystander or onlooker, particularly when watching or following gossip, scandals, or entertainment news jQuery('#footnote_plugin_tooltip_1629696_1_1').tooltip({ tip: '#footnote_plugin_tooltip_text_1629696_1_1', tipClass: 'footnote_tooltip', effect: 'fade', predelay: 0, fadeInSpeed: 200, delay: 400, fadeOutSpeed: 200, position: 'top center', relative: true, offset: [-7, 0], }); passerby, I love plots like this the most. Now I’m really curious. Who will the production team choose as the werewolf this time?】
Just as viewers were speculating, the production team’s broadcast echoed throughout the villa.
“Attention, all guests. In five minutes, the production team will send identity MMS messages to all of you. Please quickly choose concealed locations and avoid the livestream cameras to view your messages. The guest whose MMS contains a wolf-head image will be the werewolf of this season!”
The previously harmonious atmosphere among the guests instantly turned tense after the announcement.
They exchanged glances, then stood up and began searching the villa for hidden spots.
Su Zhiyan and Shen Aofu went straight upstairs, each entering a bathroom to check their messages.
Jiang Guxue chose a blind spot near the staircase corner.
An Chenru, Du Weihuan, and Bai Ye each went outside to open areas to avoid cameras and other people.
Cheng Feiran simply sat on the sofa and covered his head with his clothes. Judging by how practiced the movement was, this clearly was not the first time he did so.
Su Zhi leaned casually against the wall. Although the livestream camera could see her side profile, it could not see her phone screen at all.
Once everyone was in position, notification sounds rang out from all directions.
Seeing this scene, the viewers also grew nervous with anticipation.
They could not wait to figure out who the werewolf was.
Fans, on the other hand, had the exact opposite attitude. They began praying fervently, hoping the production team would not choose their idol.
They were not stupid. Of course, they knew that the werewolf identity would offend a lot of people.
Just as fans were worrying themselves sick, Su Zhi calmly opened her phone.
Then, without the slightest surprise, she saw the enormous wolf-head image on the screen.
Su Zhi deleted the message directly and casually slipped the phone into her pocket.
Her unruffled demeanor led viewers to be the first to eliminate Su Zhi from suspicion.
Su Zhi was not surprised at all to be chosen as the werewolf. After all, in the original plot, the original owner of this body had been the ‘sacrificial’ werewolf selected by the production team.
Now that the production team had once again chosen her for the role, she would naturally follow their wishes and make this variety show lively.
