As the thought came to him, Lin Xingyun gave the system an order, “System, I’ve decided to subdue Lin Chuan!”
[Ding! Host has activated the Lin Chuan subjugation route. Favorability converted to Loyalty. Current Loyalty of Lin Chuan: 0.]
“Oh? Zero loyalty?” Lin Xingyun chuckled. “Not even a sliver of devotion? This guy’s born rebellious.”
But he didn’t mind. It was normal for a Child of Destiny to be proud and defiant. Still, sooner or later, he would break that rebellious spirit and make him submit completely!
…
“Young Master, you saved my sister. Yet I, Lin Chuan, acted rudely and offended you. I was truly reckless and ignorant,” Lin Chuan said as he held a cup of tea in both hands and bowed. “This tea is but a small gesture of apology. I hope Young Master will forgive me!”
“It’s nothing,” Lin Xingyun replied casually. “I’m not one to hold grudges.”
He took the tea and drank it as he asked, “By the way, Brother Lin Chuan, I heard from your sister that you’re going to challenge Lin Lang in seven days?”
“He’s one of the current Ten Great Holy Sons of the Lin Clan. Do you really have the confidence to win?”
In the Lin Clan, the Ten Holy Sons and Saintess were selected through intense competition among the younger generation. Those chosen received massive cultivation resources and held great strength. They also accepted open challenges year-round. Anyone in the same major realm who could defeat one of them would replace them and become a new Holy Son or Daughter.
It was said that the eldest among them, the First Holy Son, had been in seclusion for years and had already reached the Saint Realm.
Lin Lang, the Tenth Holy Son, was the youngest, but his cultivation had already reached the peak of the Origin Palace Realm.
“When he passed through our empire years ago, he injured my father over a trivial dispute, leaving him crippled. I must avenge that!” Lin Chuan said angrily, eyes filled with pain and hatred.
“Revenge is important, but Lin Lang is a Holy Son with deep roots and many elders supporting him,” Lin Xingyun said calmly as he finished the tea. “You’ve just returned to the main lineage and have no foundation. Even if you win, aren’t you afraid of being targeted or ambushed afterward?”
“This…” Lin Chuan hesitated. “To tell the truth, Young Master, I have thought about that. But if I don’t avenge my father, I am no son! At worst, I’ll fight him and leave the Lin Clan afterward, regardless of the outcome!”
“You may leave the Lin Clan and wander the world, but what about your sister? Are you unaware of her condition?” Lin Xingyun said as he glanced at Lin Qingzhu, who looked sad and full of guilt.
Lin Chuan fell silent. This was indeed his greatest concern.
But he wasn’t foolish and asked directly, “Young Master, are you telling me all this because…”
“I see great potential in you,” Lin Xingyun said bluntly. “Why not serve under me and become my follower? With me as your backing, no one will dare target you. Your sister will also receive the best medical care and cultivation guidance.”
“This…” Lin Chuan’s face showed hesitation and inner conflict. This story is hosted at g.com.
Just then, Lin Qingzhu, who had been quietly sitting beside them, tugged at her brother’s sleeve and softly urged, “Brother, Young Master is so kind… and he really values you. Why don’t you just listen to him?”
Her mind had been racing ever since she heard Lin Xingyun’s offer. If her brother joined the Young Master, they would have a powerful protector. They could finally settle down in the Lin Clan without constantly living in fear.
And she… would also be able to see Lin Xingyun often…
If her condition could be cured someday, then maybe, just maybe, she and the Young Master…
Her thoughts drifted, and her pretty face flushed with warmth.
Lin Chuan stared at his sister’s lovestruck expression and was speechless. She had already forgotten her own brother the moment she laid eyes on beauty—no hesitation at all.
Truly his biological sister!
After a moment of contemplation, Lin Chuan finally bowed and said, “Young Master, forgive me. I ask for some time to consider carefully.”
“As you wish. No need to force yourself,” Lin Xingyun replied calmly, then stood up and left.
He hadn’t expected Lin Chuan to yield immediately. All he had done today was plant a seed in his heart.
“Farewell, Young Master.”
“Please take care, Young Master.”
The siblings saw him off at the gate. Lin Qingzhu stared longingly at his vanishing figure, her face filled with disappointment.
“Sigh… a grown sister can no longer be kept…” Lin Chuan said with a long sigh as he looked at her lovestruck expression.
He had never intended to follow anyone. His dream was to carve his own path to the peak of the Immortal Domain. But seeing his sister like this, and considering his own situation, even he began to waver…
…
That evening, in an elegant private courtyard of the Lin Clan.
Lin Xingyun, his mother Liu Fengyi, and Xiao Qianluo gathered for a celebration in honor of Lin Xingyun’s recent accomplishments.
At Liu Fengyi’s request, Ying Qing also joined them, sitting beside her to drink.
Since the disappearance of Lin Chen and his son three months ago, Liu Fengyi had been in a state of constant anxiety, barely eating or sleeping. But today, with Lin Xingyun’s return and his success in gaining the support of the Fourteenth Ancestor, the pressure on her had finally eased. Enjoying the story? Read on at NovelPing.
More importantly, seeing her youngest son grow into someone so capable and outstanding was her greatest joy.
She was also very pleased with Xiao Qianluo, her future daughter-in-law. Not only was the girl stunningly beautiful, but her figure was perfect—an ideal childbearing physique.
When Lin Xingyun brought Xiao Qianluo to meet her, she had been so delighted that she showered them with gifts, even giving away a large portion of her own dowry as a welcome present.
However, with Lin Xingyun’s father and elder brother still missing, it wasn’t an appropriate time for a wedding. Holding a joyful event now would seem utterly disrespectful.
So, for now, Liu Fengyi simply comforted Xiao Qianluo, assuring her that the Lin Clan was her home from now on.
Even so, the day was still one of triple blessings, and she drank heartily in celebration.
Watching his mother smile again, Lin Xingyun felt truly comforted.
But after a few rounds of wine, Liu Fengyi’s emotions turned chaotic.
“That bastard Lin Chen!” she cursed. “Six thousand years of cultivation, and he still hasn’t broken through? And he calls himself the Primordial Sacred Body? More like Primordial Useless Body!”
“Others guard the borders just fine—why was he the one ambushed?”
“Sure, the foreign races bear 90% of the blame… but does that mean he bears none?”
“I was wrong. I really was… I should’ve never married into the Lin Clan. If I hadn’t, Lin Chen and Feng’er wouldn’t have gone missing. If they hadn’t disappeared, then today…”
“Thank heavens Xingyun turned out well. At least my efforts weren’t in vain…”
As she drank more, Liu Fengyi alternated between scolding Lin Chen, blaming herself, and proudly praising Lin Xingyun. She rambled on drunkenly, creating a wild mix of emotions.
Lin Xingyun, Xiao Qianluo, Ying Qing, and the nearby maids were all speechless.
Fortunately, Lin Xingyun reacted quickly and had the maids help Liu Fengyi back to her room to rest.
Just before she was taken away, Liu Fengyi clung to Lin Xingyun and, half-drunk and half-sober, gave him one final instruction…
