Never met before.

But the game was already in motion.

Even before they met.

Perched at the top floor of a tower in Victoria Island, it overlooked Lagos in all its chaotic brilliance—

The view at the top was one of a man standing at the apex of power.

Deciding fate.

Only those who bowed will be safe.

Rebellious?

Destruction.

That’s the life they chose.

Take a step back.

They lost everything.

The business world is a dog eat dog world.

Soft hearted?

You ended up as a stepping stone for others.

Life itself…

Isn’t fair.

traffic crawling like veins of fire, skyscrapers rising like ambition made concrete, and the Atlantic stretching endlessly beyond.

Adaora arrived first.

Precisely on time.

She stepped out of her car, her presence screaming quiet authority.

Her looks can be deceiving.

Doll face.

A beauty of 96%

Her figure overshadowed that of a model by miles.

Her outfit was deliberate: elegant, restrained, but impossible to ignore.

Nothing screamed for attention, yet everything demanded respect.

She paused.

About to enter.

Anthony arrived.

Adaora look his way.

Glancing at the Rolls-Royce boat tail.

She recognized the car.

She had done her homework.

A nobody turned sudden shareholder.

Multiple acquisitions.

Silent but aggressive moves in the corporate space.

No clear background to justify his rise.

Men like that were either extremely lucky…

Or extremely dangerous.

A man with a commanding presence stepped down from the car.

Drawing gasps.

Envy.

Admiration.

Anthony.

He walk towards Adaora with charisma.

Adaora fought the urge to roll her eyes.

Show off.

“You’re early.” Said Anthony calmly.

Extending his hand as a gesture for hand shake.

“Anthony, and sorry for being late.”

“Not at all, just got here a while earlier than you.”

“Let’s head inside.”

Inside, they were both escorted to a private section.

Floor-to-ceiling glass.

Minimalist décor.

Privacy guaranteed.

Perfect.

She sat, crossing her legs, her eyes scanning the room—

Anthony loosen his suit button.

Removing his suit.

He sat opposite her.

They both stare at each other.

No sparks.

Both assessing each other.

Firm.

Measured.

Neither yielding.

A test.

And both of them knew it.

A brief silence followed— not awkward, but intentional.

The kind of silence where two minds quietly measure weight, value, and threat.

Adaora broke it first.

“I expected someone… different.”

Anthony’s lips curved slightly.

“Disappointed?”

She held his gaze.

“Curious.”

Good, he thought.

Not intimidated.

Not impressed either.

That made her useful.

“I assume you didn’t call this meeting for small talk,” she continued.

“I don’t waste time,” Anthony replied.

A waiter approached.

Anthony didn’t even look at the menu.

“Two glasses of red. Your best.”

Adaora noticed.

Confidence.

Or control.

Maybe both.

When the waiter left, she leaned forward slightly.

“You’ve just got a 3% stake at Lekki tech dynamics, and some properties. But the proposition you sent to me is so daring that it doesn’t make sense,” she said.

“No history. No public backing. No visible partners.”

Her eyes sharpened.

“So I’ll ask directly… what exactly are you building?”

Anthony didn’t answer immediately.

“Empire.” Tone calm, so calm.

No explanation.

He studied her.

Her eyes wasn’t accusatory.

It was surgical.

Then he continued.

“I could ask you the same,” he said.

“You’ve turned down three major offers this year alone. Including one from a multinational corporation.”

A flicker of surprise passed through her eyes—quick, but not invisible.

So he had investigated too.

“Impressive,” she said quietly.

“I value information,” he replied.

Silence again.

This time heavier.

Then Anthony leaned back slightly, his voice lowering—not in volume, but in intent.

“I’m building control.”

Adaora didn’t interrupt.

“I don’t want to run a company,” he continued.

“I want to own the decisions behind them. Quietly. Strategically.”

Her fingers tapped lightly against the table.

Thinking.

Calculating.

“And where do I fit into this… ambition?” she asked.

Anthony’s gaze locked onto hers.

“You see patterns others ignore,” he said.

“You think long-term. And more importantly…”

A slight pause.

“You’re not loyal to systems. You’re loyal to results.”

Hard.

Adaora leaned back now, mirroring his earlier posture.

“You’ve done your homework,” she admitted.

“But… Why do you think your case will be different?”

“I don’t make moves blindly.”

She studied him for a long moment.

Then—

“I’ll give you something worth more they can offer.”

“What exactly are you offering?”

Finally.

The real question.

Anthony slid a slim folder across the table.

She didn’t open it immediately.

“Before I look at this,” she said, “I need to understand something.”

He raised a brow slightly.

“You,” she continued, “are either a once-in-a-generation genius…”

A pause.

“Or a man who got lucky and is about to collapse under his own ambition.”

The air shifted.

Sharp.

Direct.

Anthony smiled.

Not offended.

Interested.

“Which one do you think I am?” he asked.

Adaora’s lips curved slightly.

“I haven’t decided yet.”

“Good,” he said.

Then his tone changed— subtle, but unmistakable.

“Work with me,” he continued, “and you won’t have to guess.”

That was the hook.

Not money.

Not position.

Certainty.

Adaora finally opened the folder.

.

Her eyes moved quickly across the contents.

Then—

They slowed.

Just a fraction.

For the first time since the meeting began…

She was impressed.

Not visibly.

But internally.

She closed the folder gently.

“This,” she said, “is ambitious.”

Anthony didn’t respond.

He didn’t need to.

She looked up at him.

“This could either make you untouchable…”

A pause.

“Or destroy you completely.”

Anthony leaned forward slightly.

“Only if I fail.”

A small smile appeared on her face.

Sharp.

Decisive.

“Then I suppose,” she said, “I’ll have to make sure you don’t.”

Deal.

Not spoken.

But understood.

Two minds.

One table.

And a future Lagos wasn’t ready for.

have a blast!
