Monday rolls around, and everyone is super excited, and it pisses me off. Mr. Aizawa took us to the same training facility we went to teach the principal. Mr. Aizawa gives the official lesson, “Alright, students. The concept itself is pretty simple. However, it still takes a lot of focus. Every person with a quirk has a special energy flowing inside them that the Principal has recently coined ‘Quirk-Energy’. To do this technique, you must focus your personal Quirk-Energy to your feet. Too little and you won’t stick. Too much and you will leave craters like those and get repelled from the surface you are trying to walk on. I recommend starting with one foot to get the feel for it. Don’t get too caught up in learning this, though, since finals are next week, so don’t forget to study and train. Now go figure it all out while I take a nap.” He then goes off into the corner and pulls out his yellow sleeping bag and zips it up.
Ayaka and I talked it over, and today we are just going to pretend not to know it yet, and we went to the back corner away from everyone and got Sir Floof and Garlic out. I get my notebook out to study and use my free hands to play with Sir Floof with my finger skin, and he adorably chirps and plays with them. Ayaka wraps her arms around me, and I yelp, being caught off guard. She giggles, and I say a little flustered, “I love you, but it is very hard to focus on studying when I feel y-y-your b-breasts like this.” She giggles and looks over my shoulder at my study notes and asks, “English?” I sigh, “Yeah… I can’t seem to wrap my head around it. Everything is so backwards, and I can’t keep it straight.” Ayaka then says, “Then, why don’t we talk with Momo to see if she can do more study sessions for us? I am sure that others need help as well.” I nod. Since Yaoyorozu is going to help with English, which is my worst subject, I probably should devote my self-studies to subjects that I am better at.
Ayaka whispered to me, “If anyone comes around and sees us, we are just taking a break from the quirk-walking.” I nod, and after 10 minutes or so, Kaminari comes around the corner, “Man, Mr. Aizawa is so cruel! Why would he teach us something new and awesome a week before the finals?!Now I don’t trust myself to study anymore!” He makes eye contact with us, studying/playing with our friends, and he says, “Hey, you guys, mind if I join you? I think I need people to help keep me on track.” Ayaka flashes that hero’s smile of hers, “You know, we were going to ask Momo if she could tutor us later. Would you want to come with us?” Kaminari jumps, “Hell yeah! Now I don’t feel guilty for trying to learn quirk-walking!” He runs off, sparking in excitement.
Ayaka giggles, “He is a ball of energy.” I sigh while closing my eyes briefly for a slightly elongated blink, “Yeah, almost nauseatingly so.” I sigh, thinking about it and continue, “You know, we probably should have gotten Yaoyorozu's permission before inviting people over.” Ayaka sighs, “Yeah, you're right. Let me go ask now.” She gets up, and I take over playing with Garlic, making more finger whips with my other hand. After a moment, I hear cheers and then a smiling Ayaka comes turning the corner, “The whole class will be coming over, too,” reminds me of the days when I was doing my remedial lessons. Though by the sound of those cheers, it sounds like everyone has their sore subjects they need help with. As she returns to her spot, I retract my finger whips that were playing with Garlic, so she doesn't sit on them.
She smiles at me and says, “You are so cute, Sekai.” She turns my head and kisses me, and the finger whips that were playing with Sir Floof go limp. I hear the perv, “I knew it. Let me see if I can sneak into the action.” My vein pops on my forehead, and Garlic and I double team Mineta and throw him indelicately to the others while we continue to kiss. She pauses the kiss and moans in a sexy manner, “That was so smooth, Sekai. That turns me on.” I get a nosebleed hearing her words, so I get up and go get myself a tissue, and Sir Floof hops on my shoulder. I see Two-toned getting ahead of the others in quirk-walking, and he is already taking steps and getting blasted from the walls. When he falls from too little, he catches himself with his ice. That spiky bastard gets enraged seeing Todoroki's progress, and while one foot was on the ground and the other on the wall, he made a crater in anger, and he used his explosions to control his landing with his quick reflexes. Yaoyorozu sees me and laughs, “Ayaka, totally was teasing you again.” She continues while creating a tissue for me, “Here, take this.” I nod and take her offering of a tissue before returning to Ayaka's side.
This week flew by, and before we knew it, the finals came around. They started with the written exams, which took the course of three full days, and to prevent Ayaka and me from cheating, I kissed her, and she went into the notebook and took the exam on Mr. Aizawa’s desk while I stayed at my desk. When the three days were over, we went to do our practical. At the training grounds, several different heroes also joined Mr. Aizawa. He says, “This is the last test. It is very possible to fail this test, so be sure to remember that going in. So no dumb mistakes, alright?” Jiro asks, “Why are all the teachers here, Mr. Aizawa?” Mr. Aizawa continues, “I expected you to gather information on this practical and think you have some idea of what you will be facing today.”
Kaminari yells, “We are gonna smash some robots!!!!!” Ashido is also excited, “There are so many things I am looking forward to at camp!” Principal Nezu pops out of Mr. Aizawa’s scarf and says, “This year’s test is going to be different for a variety of reasons.” The class gasps while Principal Nezu adorably uses Mr. Aizawa’s scarf as a repel to lower himself to the ground and says, “There is a new focus with this test. There will obviously be Hero work, but now you will be fighting actual people and using teamwork to pass. This means that you students will be working together in pairs, and your opponents will be one of the accomplished UA teachers behind me.” His voice became more passionate as he said his words. Uraraka says worriedly, “W-we’re… fighting them?”
Mr. Aizawa says, “Additionally, your partners and opponents have already been chosen. I used my discretion based on a variety of factors to include interpersonal dynamics, fighting style, and grades. First, Yaoyorozu and Todoroki are a team against me.” He says as he clenches his scarf with a smirk and continues to name the rest of the pairs. We are also going against Mr. Aizawa since he will give us the most challenge because of his quirk. First up is Yaoyorozu and Todoroki, so Mr. Aizawa can take a break in between our matches. Principal Nezu proceeded to tell us the order in which we are testing, and we are last, right after the nerd and spiky bastard fight All Might. He also tells us that we have 30 minutes to win, and we either have to put handcuffs on the teacher or if a person manages to escape. Seems pretty straightforward, however, anything but easily accomplished.
I can’t really use my teleport to get us to the escape gate when Mr. Aizawa is going to be expecting that. Ha, that gives me an idea. Jiro’s comment brought me back to the conversation, “You, better?” Present Mic yells, “Girl, you better show some respect and watch your mouth!” I let out a “Pft.” Thirteen says, “This is supposed to simulate actual combat. Sometimes you have to choose on the fly whether you need to fight or get reinforcements. This is testing you on that, so as strange as it sounds, do your best to think of us as villains.” They finish the rest of the spiel, and then Yaoyorozu and Two-toned are going up first. Ayaka says, “Since they are also fighting Mr. Aizawa, I think we should watch their fight before we strategize.” I nod, and we go to the viewing area.
Yaoyorozu has been depressed since the sports festival, even after we tried to cheer her up, and right now she is following Two-toned, making a bunch of tiny things I can’t make out. They stop to talk, and at some point, Yaoyorozu stops making dolls. Mr. Aizawa snuck up on them and was hanging under some power lines from his scarf and dropped in front of Two-toned. Two-toned tries to kick Mr. Aizawa, and he gets wrapped up in Mr. Aizawa’s scarf, and Mr. Aizawa suspends Two-toned in the air. Yaoyorozu tries to run, while Mr. Aizawa ties the scarf to a pole to keep Two-toned in the air, and then he places caltrops on the ground under Two-toned to make him hesitate in burning the scarf. Mr. Aizawa uses his scarf to fling himself towards Yaoyorozu. He wraps her, and she summons something to evade the scarf.
She then changes the direction to head back to Two-toned, and it looks like they are talking while Mr. Aizawa is heading their way. Yaoyorozu looks down as if she may have given up, though it is hard to tell from the camera angle. When Mr. Aizawa gets on top of her, she throws some of those tiny things up to blind Mr. Aizawa with flash grenades, which were inside those small (apparently hollow) things. She uses that opportunity to free Two-toned, and they start running from Mr. Aizawa. Two-toned uses the opportunity when Mr. Aizawa blinks to create an ice wall. After some time, two cloaks emerged from behind the ice wall, and Mr. Aizawa tried to attack them, not realizing they were decoys, until it was shown that Yaoyorozu made a catapult with some cloth on it.
Yaoyorozu set off the catapult, and the cloth wrapped around Mr. Aizawa after being exposed to Two-tone's fire. Don't know how that worked, but they successfully restrained Mr. Aizawa and placed the gold cuffs on him. They officially passed the exam. The flash bang gave me an idea. I whisper to Ayaka, “In your octopus form, can you squirt ink?” Ayaka giggles and whispers back, “You know, I never thought about it, but I think I can.” We then spend the next few rounds strategizing. We return to find them prepping for Kaminari and Ashido's exam with Principal Nezu.
Their exam is in a factory location with loads of tanks of stuff. After it started, lots of stuff suddenly starts breaking around Kaminari and Ashido as they run away. I see that little fluff ball in a crane on another camera, and he looks like he is cackling like a villain. I can't help but smirk watching as he destroys my classmates. Looking at the big picture camera, it looks like the principal is driving them into a dead-end. They ran the timer out and failed the exam. At the end, I could see one path leading to the exit like that was principal Nezu's way of being nice. Diabolical.I love it. My eyes are getting a little heavy, and I whisper to Ayaka, “I think I need a nap. Can you wake me up before the nerd's match?” Ayaka nods, and she makes me a lap pillow. Due to my past and sleeping to fight off hunger a lot, I can go asleep basically anywhere if I want to, so I drift to sleep pretty quickly.
Ayaka strokes my hair gently with one hand and gently nudges me with her other, and I open my eyes to her beautiful face. She smiles that smile that brightens up a room and says, “Are you almost ready to rise and shine, my love?” I nod while getting up and look to the screen to see the nerd and the spiky bastard obviously not cooperating, walking through a simulated city. The spiky bastard punches the nerd, and Recovery Girl comments on their lack of teamwork. All Might punches a mighty smash that ripples through the city in a straight line, throwing those two back in a gust of wind.
That spiky idiot thought it was a bright idea to rush All Might, and his face gets caught in All Might’s hand. Instead of trying to free himself, he is making a shit ton of explosions. That spiky idiot is going to make it impossible for them to pass. Doesn't he know it's suicide to fight All Might? I scoff, “That flaming idiot will get his ass beat at this rate.” All Might slams him into the ground. All Might used his super speed to prevent the nerd from escaping. The nerd runs away again but hits that spiky bastard in the air in a collision from lack of teamwork. They continue to obviously argue while All Might slams a metal fence over the nerd, jamming the posts in the ground, trapping that nerd. All Might punches the shit out of that bastard next, and I can’t help but smile as he gets his ass beat.
Ayaka sees me and says with a teasing wink, “Not very hero-like, Sekai.” I sigh, almost getting tired of the joke. I know she is just saying it in fun, but I say in all seriousness, “What makes a hero? Most of the heroes I know are fakes, but others say they are heroes. I just don't get it.” Ayaka says while plopping her head on my shoulder, “Hmmmm. Well, if I am to look at that question from your perspective, then that is a hard question to answer. The easy answer is 'to save people, fight crime, and keep the peace', but that doesn’t apply to your case.” Recovery Girl, who is watching yet listening to our conversation, chimes in, “That is a very good question. People want to become heroes for a variety of reasons, some are noble while others are not. I don’t know your specific circumstances, Sekai, but I do know that there are good heroes out there. Heroes that put the well-being of the people ahead of their own. Like All Might.” She says while pointing to the monitor. We look to the monitor to see All Might beating the fuck out of the nerd and the spiky bastard, who apparently are now cooperating, it seems. Ida, who is in here watching with us, says, “You both should head to the training area, so you aren’t late.” I groan and nod, and Ayaka and I head to the training ground where we will be doing our test.
For our test, it appears to be in an underground-type labyrinth. Escaping this bitch seems like it will be tough, and my teleports won’t be as effective with all of these turns. We were expecting something like this, though. Otherwise, we would just immediately teleport to the escape gate. According to the plan, Ayaka made herself a tattoo on me. We will know when he sees us when she pops into 3D. Since she can get flustered by thinking of the kiss from a shared jaw-breaker, she took one from my mouth before we started. I have the handcuffs since I will be putting them on Mr. Aizawa if everything goes to plan. Our plan is very simple and completely different from his previous match since we are using a different strategy. Mr. Aizawa hasn’t seen Ayaka turn into a whole octopus yet and probably only thinks that she has tentacles. We should have the advantage going into this because of our fruit-quirks.
When our match started, we started walking. I pop another jawbreaker in my mouth, as the last one will be gone soon, and I want to be prepared. We walk in this enclosed labyrinth on guard, glancing constantly behind us. We are relying on Ayaka for this since it is dark in this labyrinth. I would think that Mr. Aizawa would struggle to use his quirk in the dark, but apparently, he can. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have pitted him against us in this labyrinth. Ayaka can see in the dark very well since eating that fruit. I am walking on the ceiling to maybe throw Mr. Aizawa for a loop. Though, since he knows that we can do this well, he may suspect it. After a while of walking in this darkness, my eyes adjusted, though I still can’t see as well as Ayaka.
Ayaka pops out of me quite suddenly, and both of us go on high alert and initiate our plan. We separate, and Ayaka uses her enhanced sight to locate Mr. Aizawa quickly. I follow her lead and I hold back and try to keep Mr. Aizawa occupied with my finger whips while she approaches in a manner like she is going to attempt to restrain him, pretending she has the cuffs. He is really fast with that scarf, and he grabbed me a few times, but I was able to pull my skin free from his grasp by adjusting the shape of my finger whips strategically. He uses the other side of his scarf to capture Ayaka, who is right in front of his face, like we want her, and she changes into an octopus. I use the whips that were initially a decoy to lift her up so she could spray directly in his face. He mutters, “Shit,” while reaching for his face. I let go of Ayaka and teleported immediately directly in front of Mr. Aizawa and while his hands were lowering his goggles to try and remove the ink, stumbling backwards, I handcuffed him.
Ayaka squeals while carefully wiggling into her clothes, while I make a skin shield around her just in case of cameras with night vision, “We did it, Sekai!” She tickles my skin shield when she is done making me yelp and release it and she rushes to give me a hug. Mr. Aizawa chuckled while wiping his face with his scarf while cuffed, “Miss Kubo, you were holding out on me.” She shoots that innocent smile of hers while shooting a peace sign, while giggling. Mr. Aizawa asks, “I assume that Octopus form was a result of those experiments?” Ayaka cleverly replies while nodding for misdirection, “We got these abilities when we were lost.” Mr. Aizawa says able to see again since he thoroughly wiped his eyes, “You both have gone through such hardships and continue to grow. It truly amazes me. I was really trying, and your teamwork was immaculate. Good job. You both pass with flying colors.” When we got back to the others, we learned that the nerd and that spiky bastard surprisingly passed. The only four who obviously failed were Kirishima, Sato, the sparky perv, and Ashido. Though we learned that Sero also failed as well even though Mineta managed to somehow pass. Somehow.
Principal Nezu pulled us aside after Mr. Aizawa released us after telling us of the details of the training camp next month. He says while motioning us to follow him, “Why don’t we go talk somewhere private?” We nod and follow him to a room in this building that has a pot of tea apparently ready, as if he planned it perfectly. He motions us to sit down and offers us some tea, which we accept, and says, “I would like you both to work with Midnight over the course of this next month before the training camp, training your quirk, Miss Sekai.” We nod, and we hear a knock, and Midnight comes in, “You called?”
