I wake up, and Ayaka’s leg is draped over mine, and she is holding me with her arm. I feel her breast squishing against my side. I blush furiously at the situation and stay perfectly still, not to ruin the moment. That and I don't want to touch her body without asking first. She begins to stir after hearing her alarm, “Someone needs punishment. *Mmmmmm* You may even find this pleasurable. *crack!* Someone needs punishment. *Mmmmmm* You may even find this pleasurable. *crack!* Someone needs punishment. *Mmm-” I recognize that hero's voice as Midnight and the cracking of her flogger-styled whip. She must like her a lot because of her confidence.
Ayaka turned off her alarm with her left hand while not facing away from me. She slowly opens her eyes and sees my blushing face and giggles, “Why are you so stiff?” I stammer, “I d-d-didn't want to t-touch you without your p-permission.” Ayaka says in a sleepy tone of voice, “You and only you can touch me any time.” Her saying that in that sexy, sleepy tone of hers gave me an immediate nosebleed from being so flustered. Ayaka giggled at my reaction, while I turned away, embarrassed, and she rolled over and got me some tissues from her nightstand.
We got dressed and ready for school, and Mr. Kubo took us to UA's gate before driving to the Kubo art gallery. Apparently, Ayaka’s parents use both of their quirks for the art. Her mom can make canvas come out of her skin, and whatever non-living thing becomes immortalized on canvas, which Mr. Kubo explained to me on the drive to school. Living things can only be contained for a limited amount of time. She makes beautiful, unique scenes, while Mr. Kubo goes inside the paintings to bring them to life when they get prospective buyers in the gallery.
I'm currently wearing jeans, a t-shirt, and a hoodie that they got me yesterday, while Ayaka is wearing the UA school uniform. We arrive at the really large school gate, and I see several students walking through. Ayaka takes my hand and walks me to this tired looking man with a long scarf. His scowl reminds me of my own, and it makes me think how I'm probably either going to really like him or really HATE him. He says in an uninterested voice, “Alright, you two. I don't want to waste any time, so let's get this over with.”
He nonverbally signals for us to follow him, and he takes us to a private room with a gross tiny boy with purple balls on his head who is blushing and drooling. He says, “Mr. Aizawa, it turns out you're a man of culture as well. Here I thought you didn't understand the allure of the female form. I still remember the view of her bra and panties as she rescued the useless people in the entrance exam.” The pervert starts panting grossly while the depressed looking guy with the scarf, who I assume is Mr. Aizawa, gets his scarf and wraps it around the pervert’s mouth. Mr. Aizawa says in that same uninterested tone of voice, “Prove to me that you can use your quirk with him here.”
Without any warning, he unwrapped the pervert who came running and drooling to Ayaka. She grabs me and kisses me, and brings me to 2D. We continue kissing until the gross kid starts drooling on our kissing image. Mineta says, “More tongue! More tongue! Let me join in!” I shiver with Ayaka as we run from him in 2D, and after a while, Mr. Aizawa uses his scarf to restrain the pervert. Ayaka takes us out of 2D and starts breathing heavily, wiping the sweat from her brow. She asks while turning to Mr. Aizawa, “Can I transfer to your class now?” Mr. Aizawa nods, “For now, Kubo. Glad to see that you don’t have to be in your underwear to activate your quirk. Try your best from now on to keep your clothes on for your quirk.” The small pervert yells while still restrained by the scarf, “Don’t listen to him, hot stuff, take off your clothes more!” Mr. Aizawa, with a vein popping on his forehead that matches my own, wraps his scarf around his mouth again and continues talking, “Sekai, was it? Follow me. We have things to discuss.”
En route to the next location, he let the pervert, who apparently is named Mineta, go. He got distracted by other female students and started running off before Mr. Aizawa could tell him differently. Mr. Aizawa sighs and groans as I follow him to a room with a weird, elegant white animal with a scar over its right eye, drinking tea. There is something about this white fluff ball I really like, and I don't know what it is. The animal said, “Welcome to my school, Miss Sekai. I'm Principal Nezu and will be your administrator while you walk the halls of this fine institution. Your case is quite unique since most heroes don't usually need help from someone else to use their quirk.”
He takes a sip of his tea, and I ask a little fidgety, “Is it really alright for a quirkless, middle-school dropout like me to go here? There is no way I could pass the entrance exam. The written or the practical.” Principal Nezu closes his eyes and smiles warmly, “I never said it would be easy, Miss Sekai. Before you join the others, you will need remedial education to catch up with your peers, which includes heroing 101. After remedial training, you will be enrolled in Class 1-A with Miss Kubo.” I nod, “Whatever I have to do to be a good sidekick to Ayaka. I don't want to let her down.” Principal Nezu smiles, “Before you start your remedial training, we need to get you fitted for a uniform.” I respond, “I can't afford a new uniform, so hand-me-downs are fine.” Principal Nezu shakes his head, “You will get a new uniform like everyone else. The Kubos said they would pay for it.” I sigh in relief and ask, “D-do I have to wear the girls' uniform? I would prefer wearing the boys' uniform.”
Principal Nezu picks up his teacup and says, after an elegant sip, “I only care if you are in your uniform. The type of uniform is inconsequential to me.” Big words that I don't understand aside, I think he just said I could. I bow in gratitude to him, and his phone vibrates. As I stand back up, he says, “Wait a moment before you go. There is someone who wants to meet you.” I sigh, wanting to get started on being a good sidekick and learning, but I guess I can wait. Principal Nezu motions for me to take a seat, and I do. He brings his teapot over to me and pours me a cup of tea, and says, “Here, have some tea. Tea is great for the nerves and has many medicinal properties.” I take a sip of tea, and before I could swallow, the door slams open and a big ball of muscle appears, “I AM HERE!” The sheer surprise makes me spit out my tea.
I place my cup of tea down, and he comes in and sits down opposite me and says, “Young Sekai, I have heard about you, and I wanted to talk with you to verify something. I heard the story of how you bravely saved one of our students at the risk of your own life, and I at first wanted to express my gratitude. You will make a fine hero one day, even if you are quirkless.” I scoff at his words, “I am not like you. A real hero wants to save everyone, but I only wanted to save Ayaka.” All Might asks, confused, “Why did you save her then? If you don’t mind me asking.” Even though All Might’s quirk pisses me off, I know he is a safe person, being the 'Symbol of Peace' and all. So I try to steel myself before telling him. I sigh and I stammer awkwardly, “C-c-can you guys keep it a s-secret? I haven’t even w-worked up the courage to tell Ayaka yet.” All Might says, “Consider my lips sealed, and you don’t have to worry about the other two.”
I pick up my teacup with a shaky hand and take a sip to help me relax. This feels like it will be easier to say to people I don’t know, but it is still nerve-racking. I take a deep, shaky breath, and I say, “T-that day I s-saved her, I discovered that there is no true justice, and I was overwhelmed with the feeling that I was worthless garbage. I saw her being harassed on my way inside the building I was going to jump off of, and I ignored her at first because I am weak and quirkless. As I almost left earshot, I heard her say the words, ‘I want to be a hero that makes this city a place where any girl or woman can show skin and feel safe from villains like you! I want to be a symbol for women!’ Those words echoed in my mind. If the world she wanted existed, then my mother wouldn’t have had to die, and I wouldn’t have been made an orphan. I knew saving her quirkless was suicide, and that was why I did it. I wanted to die and help her escape so she could become the great hero I know she can be.”
Saying all of that out loud opened the faucets of my eyes, and I started crying on my scowling face. I took some more sips of my tea. All Might sighs in relief as if he verified what he wanted to confirm, which I don’t understand in this context. He asks with a worried expression, “Are you still having suicidal thoughts, Young Sekai?” I shake my head, wiping my tears, “No, because my hero saved me.” All Might says, “That is good. If you need someone to talk to, my ear is open, young hero.” I put my teacup down so I could wipe my tears more effectively, “I just got done telling you that wasn’t my intention when I saved her.” All Might says, “It doesn’t matter your intentions, only your actions. Your actions yesterday saved Young Kubo. Your actions made you a hero.”
All Might continues with a worried expression, “You know, in my Pro-Hero opinion, I think you should tell your partner what you told us today. I could be there with you if you need moral support.” I shake my head, “I - I thi- (sigh) … After I build up some courage, I think I will be fine.” He slaps his hands on his thighs and gets up and says energetically with a smile, “Alright then. I look forward to seeing you around, Young Sekai. I expect to see great things from you in the future.” He says with that huge smile of his, then he speeds off as quickly as he stormed in here. As I wipe my tears, I ask Mr. Aizawa and Principal Nezu, “Is it me, or does he have a soundtrack when he shows up? It was almost nauseating.” Mr. Aizawa clears his throat in surprise at my comment, and Principal Nezu chuckles and says, “I believe that is what the children call ‘Main-Character Energy’. Or something along those lines.” Principal Nezu places his teacup down and says, “Aizawa will escort you out, Miss Sekai. As All Might said, I also look forward to seeing what you will accomplish here.” Why are they all saying this?
I don’t understand why everyone is expecting so much of me. I am just quirkless garbage who, by chance, stumbled upon a beautiful, dark purple-haired girl who said I was worth something. I am the only reason she is still enrolled in the heroes course at UA. I feel a lot of pressure on my shoulders. I must do my best here to make sure Ayaka graduates and becomes a hero like she wants to be. I must make her dream a reality.
I got fitted for a uniform and we are walking to my class and get to a blonde hero with stiff gelled hair with eccentric shades that I recognize. I groan upon seeing him. PRESENT MIC. He is not only loud and obnoxious, but his commentary on things objectifies women and girls and doesn’t help Ayaka’s vision. All because of his ‘precious ratings’. I hate heroes like him. Present Mic greets us, “Yo yo yo! What it do, youngster! YOU READY TO LEARN!!!” I groan, smack my teeth, and sit down with the backpack and school supplies that Mrs. Kubo got me. I say while scowling at him, “Tsk! Can you turn down the volume, Loud Mouth, and teach me quickly?” He dramatically clutches his chest, and Mr. Aizawa says, “Alright, you take her from here. I am going to take a nap.” Present Mic asks, "Don't you have to teach a class?" Mr. Aizawa says in that same uninterested voice, "I will give them something to do first." He shuts the door, and Present Mic starts loudly going into his lecture. The longer I take notes, the more the vein in my forehead pops because of his annoying tone. The only reason I haven’t walked out is Ayaka. I have to succeed.
After spending all morning in remedial lessons, Present Mic says, “Time to get some grub, YA DIG?!” I groan at his tone, but I am very hungry, so I don’t say anything and follow him to the lunch room. He says, “Just go up there and order your food! GORGE OUT, GRUMPSTER!” I smack my teeth and look away with an attitude. It isn’t like I can afford the lunches here. Even if they are discounted for students. The smell of the food is divine, and I find it torturous to see everyone eating and leaving food to the side, unwanted. How could they leave any food on their trays?! I don’t understand them. I grit my teeth and go to turn and storm out of the lunch room to wait for them to throw out their unwanted food when I bump into Ayaka and a few other girls.
One of the girls is pink with horns, and she says, “I love your pink hair. That shit is dope!” A girl with a long black ponytail and something about her that I don't like is with her as well. She says, “Nice to meet you. You must be this sidekick we heard all about.” I wave awkwardly in greeting them with one hand and pull my hood down with the other. Ayaka sees my expression and hears my stomach growling, and she turns me around and pushes me to the counter and says, “ORDER WHAT YOU WANT.” I stammer, “B-but I can’t affor-” She bonks me on the head and says, “I said what I said.” I look over the menu and I see that they have udon. I ask, “C-c-can I get the udon?” Ayaka smiles that warm smile of hers and says, “You can have as much as you want. So if one serving isn’t enough, let me know and I will get you more, ok?” I nod while pulling my hoodie over my head.
I needed a little barrier between Present Mic’s voice and my ears, so I put my hoodie over my uniform. While waiting briefly on the food, the pink girl says, “I think it is rad that you are wearing the boy’s uniform. I didn’t even know that was an option.” The girl with the black ponytail says, “With as much as Mineta tries to look up our skirts, we all should probably switch to the boys’ uniform as well.” The pink girl groans, “Ewww. Just hearing his name makes me shiver.” The girl with the black hair says with a vein popping on her forehead, “That pervert knows no shame. Today, he was constantly trying to steal the notebook that Kubo went into to write notes so he could perv on her.” I clench my fist, pissed off, fantasizing about punching that pervert.
By now, the food is ready, and we all sit down. The other girls join us from their class, except one chipper girl with short hair all up in that nerd’s space and obviously crushing on him. The girls at the table all introduce themselves. The pink girl says, “I am Ashido. My quirk is Acid.” The girl with the black hair says, “I am Yaoyorozu. My quirk is creation.” The invisible girl says, “I am Hagakure. I am obviously invisible.” A short girl with black hair says, “I am Tsuyu Asui, and my quirk is Frog. I can do anything a frog can. You can call me Tsu.” A girl with earjacks for ears says, “My name is Jiro and my quirk is earphone jack.” Ayaka says, “That girl over there by the green-haired kid is Uraraka, and she can make things weightless.” I nod and say, “I am Sekai. I am quirkless.”
Ayaka cuts in, “You aren’t quirkless. We just haven’t learned enough about your quirk and why you disappear briefly sometimes.” I sigh and take a bite of food, and this food is INCREDIBLE. I eat quickly, and the girls put their chopsticks down in awe of my eating. I am a street rat after all, so they are probably judging me. Yaoyorozu asks, “Did you all just see that as well?” The other girls nod, and Tsu says, “She definitely disappeared for a fraction of a second.” Yaoyorozu asks, “What do you feel when you activate your quirk?” Since I am still stuffing my face, Ayaka responds on my behalf, “So far, she has activated it while eating and kissing me.” I blush and cough, choking on my udon briefly in surprise that she told them the kissing part. Hagakure moves side to side and squeals, “You kissed?! So, are you two dating?” Ayaka smiles that warm, hero smile of hers that lights up a room and says, “Sekai is my girlfriend.”
Those words echoed in my mind. ‘Sekai is my girlfriend.’ On repeat. I dropped my chopsticks in surprise at her words, blushing while looking back at my udon, feeling bashful, and she turned my head back to hers and kissed me. We go 2D briefly, and she returns us to 3D. Tsu says, “Wow, you didn’t need to take off your clothes.” Ayaka nods while smiling that infectiously warm smile of hers, “Isn’t my sidekick the greatest?” I blush and pull my hood down. I felt someone bump into me, and I turned to see that spiky bastard carrying his empty lunch tray. He had to have hit me on purpose because he is too aware of his surroundings to just bump into someone. He yells, “Fucking loser, don't get in my way!” He looked at me closer, and it seemed he finally recognized me, “I thought I recognized you. What is a worthless quirkless extra like you even here?” I snap back, “None of your goddamn business, you spiky asshole.” He clenches his fingers on his tray, “Oh yeah, that was the main reason I didn’t like you. That attitude of yours. Just stay out of my way, or I will blow you to smithereens like old times. Tsk!”
I grit my teeth, pissed off at the ‘prodigy’. Fucking asshole. Yaoyorozu says, “I can’t believe, Bakugo. What is his problem?” As she sighs in disappointment with her classmate. Ayaka asks, “Do you know Bakugo from the past?” I nod, “He used to bully me in middle school. He kept burning the breadcrusts I would bring to school to eat with his quirk, so I was forced to drop out.” Ayaka gets up, and she approaches Bakugo and punches him square in the face. Everyone in the lunchroom becomes silent in an instant at the scene.Well, everyone except Bakugo. He dropped his empty tray and opened his palms and started making those tiny explosions, pissed off, “You wanna go, you fucking extra?! LET’S GO!” I immediately run and get in between Ayaka and that spiky bastard as he uses an explosion, and I catch the blast at the last second.
IT FUCKING HURTS LIKE A BITCH.
I remember this pain all too well.
Oh no, that blast burnt this new hoodie that the Kubos got me. I grit my teeth and clutch the hoodie, while a stiff dude with glasses comes up and gets in between us, “That is not proper behavior, and you must stop that at once! Unsanctioned violence between students is prohibited in the student code of conduct!” The spiky bastard snaps at him, “Shut it, this has nothing to do with you!” He says while still making tiny explosions in his hands. I tell him with venom in my words, “You better keep your sweaty hands off, Ayaka.” He yells with his crazy, angry face, still making tiny explosions, “Nobody asked you, you useless extra! Now, get out of my way so I can pay her back tenfold!” I scowl at him, “It is my fault she hit you! So if you are mad, then leave her out of this, asshole!”
Mr. Aizawa wraps the spiky bastard, me, and Ayaka up in his scarf, and his hair is standing while staring with red eyes at Bakugo, and his explosions stop. Mr. Aizawa says, “There better be a damn good reason that my midafternoon nap was interrupted. You three come with me.” We get to an empty room where Mr. Aizawa makes all of us sit down and nonverbally motions for someone to start talking. Ayaka says, “I had to punch Bakugo after Sekai told me why she dropped out of middle school.” The spiky bastard yells with his vein popping on his forehead, “What the fuck does that loser dropping out have to do with me?!” Ayaka yells, “You kept burning her breadcrusts and she had to drop out so she could eat something! It is all your fault that she dropped out in the first place, asshole!”
Mr. Aizawa sighs, “Bakugo, you need to learn how to get along better with your classmates, and Kubo, you can’t just punch people because you feel like it. Bakugo, you are to talk it out with Sekai here before you are allowed to leave. I am going to take a nap in the meantime. Figure it out.” He zips up his yellow sleeping bag and sits on the floor propped up by the wall while Ayaka says, “Bakugo, do you even have the slightest idea of the troubles Sekai has had?” Bakugo turns his head, “Tsk. Why do I need to worry about a damn extra?” Ayaka asks me, “Can I tell him?” I nod and let her take control since it is hard for me to talk about.
Ayaka says with a furrowed brow, “She lived in an orphanage with an administrator who embezzled funds, and since she was assumed to be quirkless, the other children kept the little bit of food they had from her. She lived off of those breadcrusts and needed them to survive, and you kept burning them. She had to drop out because she needed to eat something and couldn’t eat with you around.” The spiky bastard smacked his teeth and looked away while crossing his arms, “Tsk. How the fuck was I supposed to know, extra? You should have said something… or whatever…” Ayaka scolded him, “Why did she have to say anything? Isn’t it obvious that she needed it if she were eating them EVERY DAY? Who else would eat breadcrusts every day if they didn’t have to?!”
He growls, “Well, I can’t change the past, fucking weakling.” I snap back, “It isn’t like I need an apology from you anyway, you spiky bastard. Thanks to Ayaka, I am finally ok because she is a real hero. You keep saying how you will be the best, but she is already way better than you.” He yells, “Not according to the entrance exams, she isn’t, you fucking extra! I will be number one, not her!” I sigh and smack my head, unable to believe this idiot. I tell him, “You do realize that there is more to being a hero than dumb scores, right? If you don’t realize that, then you will never be number one, you spiky bastard.” Bakugo yells while making tiny explosions with his hands, “Whatever, I will just blast anyone who gets in my way!” I groan and smack my teeth, “Tsk. This seems pointless. This flaming idiot won’t change from just a conversation. I’m out of here.” I stand up, and Ayaka stands with me while sighing, and she asks, “Did you eat enough at lunch?” I shake my head, and she says, “Ok, I will buy you yakisoba bread from the campus store.” Mr. Aizawa says sleepily, “Lunch is almost over, don’t be late to your afternoon classes.”
As we walk to the campus store to get food, a few tears escape my eyes as I hold Ayaka's hand. She stops and asks, “What's wrong?” I gesture to the hoodie and say, “You guys bought me this nice hoodie, and I went and ruined it in one day. I am so sorry.” She hugs me and says, “Shhhh, don't worry about that. Plus, my mom would gladly buy you another since it happened to protect me.” I ask, “Are you sure?” She pats my back and says, “I'm positive. Now let's hurry before we are late for class.” She breaks away from the hug and grabs my hand as we run to the store. Passing the passionately stiff student saying, “No running in the halls! It isn't safe and is against the rules!” I giggle while I wipe my tears and ask her while we run, “Is that guy always like that?” She laughs, “Yeah, but in a way, Ida is kind of like the class's older brother… or maybe mother would be more correct. ” I laugh hard at that.
