Li Yang put away his phone.
The moment he heard something was off in their conversation, Li Yang had started recording on his phone. Now, their entire dialogue was saved.
And at that moment, he changed his mind.
Gao Jinming was the village’s vegetable collector. He’d not only built a new house in the village but also bought a car. How did he manage all that?
He had a steady client in the city who needed his vegetables.
He was the only one in the village with that kind of connection.
As for where this client was, nobody knew. Gao Jinming kept it a tight secret, guarding it like he was protecting against thieves, terrified someone would steal his business.
Now, Li Yang knew. So it was the Grand Golden Pavilion Hotel.
’In that case, this will be easy.’
’You’re lusting after my Aunt Xiu, Gao Jinming. I’ll cut off your business first, then deal with you slowly.’
Having made up his mind, Li Yang left immediately and caught a ride into the city.
Upon arriving at the Grand Golden Pavilion Hotel in the city, Li Yang went straight to a server. "Where is your Manager Han? I have something very important to discuss with her!"
The server paused, taken aback. "What is this regarding, sir?"
Li Yang thought for a moment. ’They’ll definitely turn me away if I’m this direct.’ He changed his approach. "I’d like to book a few tables for a banquet and discuss it with your manager. Is that possible?"
"Of course, right this way, sir..." The server led him to Manager Han’s office.
When he walked in, Li Yang’s eyes lit up.
Manager Han’s name was Han Qiuyue. She looked to be about twenty-seven or twenty-eight, dressed in a black uniform that gave her an air of exceptional grace.
Her features were elegant and well-defined, full of charm.
Her chest was ample, and even the uniform couldn’t hide its prominence, giving her an unapproachable aura.
"How many tables are you looking to book, sir?" Manager Han didn’t look down on Li Yang despite his plain clothes.
"Manager Han, I’m actually not here to book a banquet. I have something important to tell you." As he spoke, Li Yang took out his phone and played the recording.
Because he hadn’t been close, the recording was quiet, but it was still audible.
It wasn’t very long, and the recording finished quickly.
Manager Han’s expression changed.
"That was a recording of a conversation between Gao Jinming and his wife I just made at his shop..." Li Yang observed her expression and knew she was furious. "I figured this was an urgent matter, so I came to let you know."
Manager Han took a deep breath before finally speaking. "Thank you. I understand. I will handle this matter."
"Besides that, I have one more request, Manager Han." Li Yang paused thoughtfully. "Since Gao Jinming can no longer be your vegetable supplier, could I take his place?"
Manager Han glanced at Li Yang.
’This young man has done me a huge favor. His request isn’t unreasonable.’
’Otherwise...’
She didn’t dare to think about what might have happened.
"How about this..." Manager Han considered for a moment. "Let’s talk about it after this matter is resolved, alright?"
"Deal!" Li Yang breathed a sigh of relief.
During the year he had been a fool, Aunt Xiu had spent money to set up a mushroom shed for him so he could survive, and she’d had him plant a lot of vegetables.
Though a fool, he was still capable of doing tasks.
’Aunt Xiu was creating a safety net for me.’
He had grown quite a bit before, but he couldn’t sell much of it.
Now that Li Yang was no longer a fool, he naturally had to find a way to sell these vegetables.
He could oust Gao Jinming, satisfying his desire for revenge, and take his place—killing two birds with one stone.
Manager Han sat and waited. They were supposed to deliver vegetables today, and she needed to hold Gao Jinming accountable.
But the minutes ticked by, and Gao Jinming still hadn’t arrived.
"Who’s that over there?" Suddenly, Li Yang pointed down through the office’s glass wall. "It looks like Wang Xiangqin with a chubby man."
Manager Han went over for a look and immediately said, "That’s Fang Ping. He’s also a purchasing manager here."
As she said this, her expression turned ugly.
"Looks like they’re heading out..." Li Yang watched them with their arms around each other’s shoulders. "They seem to be leaving. How about this? I’ll follow them and report back to you if I find anything, Manager Han."
Manager Han hesitated for a moment before finally nodding in agreement.
Li Yang immediately went downstairs and sprinted after them like the wind.
Fang Ping and Wang Xiangqin went to a nearby hotel and got a room.
Li Yang painfully parted with one hundred yuan to bribe the young woman at the front desk and got a short-stay room next to theirs.
They had just gone into their room when, a short while later, the sounds from inside stopped.
’Clearly, Manager Fang’s body isn’t up to snuff.’
The sounds from inside quickly came to an end.
"Here, I won’t go up. I’ll give you the tea..." A few minutes later, voices could be heard from next door again. "This is a little something for Manager Han, a specialty ’fire-clearing’ tea from our village. Have her try it, as a token of our appreciation. You’d better watch her drink it. And this is your medicine. My husband prepared it specially for you. It can help you last longer."
"You had something this good and didn’t give it to me sooner..." Manager Fang shrieked. "Come on, come on, let’s go again!"
"That’s enough..." Wang Xiangqin refused. "Next time. I’ll come out and keep you company again tomorrow. I’ll let you have your fill then."
Soon, the door next door opened, and Wang Xiangqin emerged with a smile on her face.
Fang Ping followed her out shortly after.
Just then, Li Yang stepped out of his room and blocked Fang Ping’s path.
"You’re Manager Fang Ping from the Grand Golden Pavilion Hotel, right?" Li Yang asked.
Fang Ping was taken aback. "Who are you?"
"Your body’s not in good shape..." Now possessing the Medical Codex, Li Yang could tell what was wrong with a person’s body with just a glance. "You need to get that treated."
"You..." Fang Ping was furious. Any man would be upset if you told him he ’couldn’t perform’.
"This is the ’fire-clearing’ tea Wang Xiangqin gave you for Manager Han, isn’t it? Have a drink..." Li Yang suddenly grabbed Fang Ping’s head, tilted it back, and forced him to drink.
Fang Ping was no match for Li Yang and immediately swallowed some.
After being forced to gulp down several mouthfuls, Fang Ping’s face turned red from holding his breath.
Li Yang then let him go.
"Fuck you! Are you fucking looking to die..." Fang Ping roared, about to strike back.
But just then, he suddenly felt a strange sensation coursing through his entire body.
"Go on, give Wang Xiangqin a call," Li Yang said with a cold smile. "Tell her to come back. She probably hasn’t left yet. You can go have a good time, and then I’ll tell you what was really in that tea. She was trying to set you up."
With that said, Li Yang returned to his room.
Fang Ping couldn’t quite process what was happening, but the reaction from his body was unmistakable. He immediately called Wang Xiangqin.
Wang Xiangqin was still in the lobby, just about to leave, when Fang Ping forcefully called her back.
He was her sugar daddy, after all. She didn’t dare to offend him, so she went back up.
However, the moment she opened the door, Fang Ping pulled her inside.
