Why was everyone so obsessed with Kael?

Was he truly so great that they had to keep carrying his name on their lips?

Could they not see that I was their Alpha now and not Kael?

“Could they not simply accept that Kael was gone?”

I did not realize I had actually said that last part out loud until an elder immediately slammed his fist on the table.

“Kael is not dead.

Why do you keep insisting that your brother is dead?

He is your own blood and flesh.

This throne you are fighting him for is not even yours to fight for.

“He is ready to step aside for you once you simply accept that he is better suited.

Even so, he is willing to leave many things for you.

“But what do you do in return?

You badmouth him and speak ill of him.

You are tearing him down for no reason, and that is not right.

He is your brother.

You are supposed to be fighting to bring him back to this pack, no matter what.”

One of the elders said as he turned his screen toward me, showing me a video of pack members speaking to a woman who was telling them that they could only free Kael on their own. This chapter was taken from g.com without permission.

“And she cannot do it because she risks losing a job she has spent years working toward.

She does not want to throw that away,” he continued.

The group of pack members who had gone there had tried to free him but had not succeeded.

I had already seen the footage of them attempting it.

But I did not care.

I had to get rid of Kael no matter what, and I had to do it myself.

“I cannot depend on other people any longer.

They are taking too long.

I did not want to get my hands dirty or have blood on them before, but now I have to.

That is the only way I can become the Lycan Alpha.

If they do not see Kael’s dead body, they will never accept me as the true Alpha,” I thought to myself as I dismissed the guard who had come to inform me about the riots outside.

“I do not want to worry about that, at least not now.

I need to deal with the matter at hand.”

I immediately called one of my most trusted men after dismissing the meeting.

The elders had gone outside to calm the angry pack members and stop the rioting.

I sat there alone, waiting for Enoch, whom I had summoned.

He arrived promptly and bowed before me.

“Alpha, you called for me?”

I immediately looked him straight in the eyes.

“Gather your men, and move fast.

Go to where Kael is being held captive.

I need you to take him out, and I’m giving you 24 hours.

Just 24 hours to complete this job.

You have never failed me before, and if you fail in this, that is the end.

I will wipe out your entire family,” I said to him, making the weight of failure absolutely clear so he would carry out the assignment without hesitation.

“I want no mistakes.

Twenty-four hours to eliminate Kael.

Do everything in your power to get into that tech building and finish it as quickly as possible.”

“Find any means necessary, because that is the only way I can become the Lycan Alpha, and I need to secure that before the pack members turn on me.”

“The only way to bring them down and make them accept me as their true Alpha is when they know that Kael is gone.

As long as Kael is alive, he will obstruct my growth and my future,” I said to him as he bowed.

“We will carry out the order with immediate effect,” he said before walking out of my presence.

I smiled to myself.

Finally, Kael would be out of the way.

No one would be able to stop me from becoming the Lycan Alpha.

I would become the most powerful Alpha and put those elders, and everyone who had ever supported Kael, firmly in their place.

“No one will be able to stand against my decisions.

Just this last step, and I will become the most powerful Alpha,” I thought, smiling in quiet satisfaction, because it was finally time to remove the one obstacle that had stood in my way for far too long.

All these years I had patiently watched from afar as he took everything that should have been mine and reduced me to nothing more than a military commander.

But he had made one mistake, and it had cost him everything.

Now it would cost him for good.
