Jiang Jin saw through her little ploy but didn’t call her out. Instead, he slowed his pace to match the petite figure beside him.
Jiang Jin had studied at Harvard in M Country. After six years, he graduated with a doctorate in medicine, though only he knew how hard the journey had been. The road from medical student to Chief Physician had been long and arduous.
As a medical student, he had to write all kinds of papers every day while struggling to complete his residency training.
Then, once he started working, there were endless surgeries and shifts to cover. On top of dealing with all kinds of clinical problems, he also had to spend a great deal of time and energy constantly studying.
Even Ke Shaoyu and the others used to tease him that if he ever got a girlfriend, he probably wouldn’t even have time to see her.
His life had always run at full throttle. Yet now, spending time with the girl beside him, he felt a sense of ease he hadn’t known in a long while.
Jiang Jin watched the petite figure in front of him. “Is your father’s back feeling better now?”
“Much better.” Jiang Yun turned around, her fair, oval face tilted up toward him. “We have Dr. Jiang’s excellent medical skills to thank for that. Should I send you a banner? It could say: ‘So handsome it’s unfair, and his medical skills are beyond question.’” As she spoke, she covered her mouth with her delicate white hand and giggled.
Jiang Jin looked at the woman laughing quietly before him. Her eyes curved, their outer corners lifting seductively, as though they could drip with allure. With the slightest smile, she was irresistibly captivating.
The corners of Jiang Jin’s lips suddenly lifted. “Are you trying to make me a laughingstock at the hospital?” His voice held an affection he hadn’t even noticed himself.
“How could I? I couldn’t bear to.” Jiang Yun deliberately pouted. “Why is this walk so short? We’ve barely spent any time together, and we’re already home.” Her gentle voice carried a hint of sweet complaint.
“Go on in,” Jiang Jin said quietly.
“Dr. Jiang, I still don’t have your contact information.” Jiang Yun blinked up at him with wide eyes.
“Your phone.”
Jiang Yun froze. “What?”
Jiang Jin held out his hand and patiently explained, “Didn’t you say you wanted my contact information?”
His palm was broad and strong, his fingers long, fair, and sharply defined, every nail neatly trimmed.
Jiang Yun had a thing for hands, and it seemed that every part of Jiang Jin fit her tastes perfectly.
She took her phone from her little purse, unlocked it, and placed it in his palm. “Here you go~”
She watched his long fingers tap lightly across the screen. Before long, Jiang Jin’s phone rang.
“There.” He handed her phone back.
“Dr. Jiang, make sure you save my number too.” Jiang Yun took the phone, her fingertips brushing his palm by chance.
He raised an eyebrow slightly. “Go inside. It’s chilly out here.”
“Okay~ Good night, Dr. Jiang.” Her voice was gentle and alluring as she turned toward the elevator.
His tall, broad-shouldered figure stood straight where he was, watching her walk away. His long legs and mature masculine build gave her a deep sense of security.
Even after she entered the elevator, he didn’t leave. He took a cigarette from his pocket, lit it, and drew a deep breath.
Judging the time, he exhaled a stream of smoke and took out his phone to call her. “Are you home?”
His rich, masculine voice came through the phone. Jiang Yun’s fingers tightened around it without her realizing. “Just got in. You timed that perfectly, didn’t you?”
A smile curved Jiang Jin’s lips. “Mm. I didn’t get to say good night to you just now, so I’m saying it now.”
After a pause, his low, gentle voice sounded again in the night. “Good night, Jiang Yun.” Without waiting for her response, he ended the call unhurriedly.
Jiang Yun’s little face flushed. She pouted to herself. What was that? He looked so proper, so cool and abstinent—who knew he could be so good at this…
The man downstairs waited until he was sure she had made it home safely before turning to leave…
