After putting her grandma to sleep, Vanessa threw her bag over her shoulders and left the hospital.

She quickly checked the time on her phone. It was only 12pm, an hour before Bianca was to be picked up from the school.

It’s been two days since she and Matteo got married and neither of them has seen each other since the day he barged into her supposed bedroom.Full novel: The Tycoon’s Replacement Bride — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

The next morning after that night, the butler had given her a list of things that she needed to do in order to take proper care of Bianca.

Picking her up from school had been one of them. Today was Monday, and Vanessa wanted to make a good impression on the little girl by going early.

As Vanessa was about to shut off her phone and head to the car, a call came through.

She checked her phone only to find her father’s name shining through her screen like a warning sign.

Her guts screamed at her not to pick up, but she did.

“Father—”

“Come home. I need to talk to you.”

He didn’t let her finish her sentence. He’d just cut her off like whatever she wanted to say wasn’t worth listening to at all.

“I can’t come home right now. I have to—”

“I didn’t ask if you can or can’t,” he cut her off once again, an edge to his tone. “Have you forgotten that your grandmother is in the hospital?” He reminded her. Find the original chapter at novelping(.)com.

Vanessa didn’t resist the urge to roll her eyes back.

That was the only leverage he had over her and she couldn’t wait to be free from his torments.

She opened her mouth to speak but realized that he’d already hung up on the phone.

Vanessa took a deep breath with her eyes closed, her shoulders tensing for a moment.

She only needed to endure this for a little while longer.

Reaching the car, she instructed the chauffeur to drive her to her father’s house.

A few minutes later…

Vanessa arrived at the Voss mansion with a heavy heart. She’d thought that the moment she got married and left, she would never have to show her face to any of them anymore.

Sighing, Vanessa checked the time on her phone again. She only had forty minutes left before she had to go pick Bianca up from school.

Entering the mansion, Vanessa instantly saw her parents. They were chilling on the couch and talking.

Vanessa’s blood instantly went cold with worry, wondering what they’d planned for her this time around.

“You’re here,” Mr. Voss exclaimed when he saw her, a big smile on his lips. He stood up from the couch and walked over to her with open arms. Before Vanessa could take a cautious step back, he wrapped his arms around her and hugged her tightly. “I’ve always known you would make me proud. Marrying Matteo when I told you to was how I knew you would always listen to me even if I told you to jump off a cliff.”

Vanessa’s lips tightened into a straight line but she didn’t do anything. Jumping off a cliff wasn’t exactly a terrible idea, as long as she pulled him along with her so they could both jump together.

“Why did you call me here?” She questioned, her voice coming off harsher and more impatient than she’d meant for it to be. They gave her a look for a second too long but didn’t say anything.

“Now that you’re married to Matteo, I need you to help me execute one of my plans for me,” Mr. Voss explained. She knew exactly what he was going to say next. She’d overheard him after all, but she pretended not to know anything. Mr. Voss held the silence for a second longer before he dropped the bomb. “I want you to kill Matteo.” Read this novel at g.com for the best experience.

Even though she knew what he was going to spew from his mouth, her jaws still hung open. He really wanted her to kill Matteo for him like she was some kind of trained assassin he could command and he would get what he wanted.

“What?” She said, worry filling her tone.

“You don’t have to do it now. You two just got married two days ago. If anything happened to Matteo now, you would be the first suspect which would also make me a suspect.” He turned to his seat and crossed his legs over each other like they were discussing the weather conditions, his voice disturbingly calm. “Which is why, I want you to make him fall in love with you.”

“Father, you have to be realistic. Matteo is never going to fall in love with Vanessa,” Noelle interjected from the kitchen, a glass of orange juice in her hand. She gave Vanessa a once-over, searching for something Vanessa couldn’t decipher. Then she gave a low snort before she walked past her.

“He will if she does her work well. Seduce him if you have to, I don’t care how you do it.”

Vanessa’s lips thinned into a straight line. His conditions were starting to seem unending.

First, it was drinking Noelle’s dirty foot water just for this demon before her to pay for his own mother’s hospital fees. She had to get married to Matteo to keep the fees running and now, she had to make Matteo fall in love with her.

At this point, Vanessa was starting to consider the cliff. Maybe the only way to end all of these was to end her own life.

The weak image of her grandma appeared in her mind, fueling her strength.

She wasn’t going to give up yet.

Before she did, she was going to take down every member of the Voss family. She didn’t care if she was part of them anymore. They never treated her like family, so she wouldn’t go easy on them at all.

Taking a deep breath, Vanessa parted her lips to speak.

“Why do you want to kill Matteo?” She asked.
