Fei Yangyao was panicked and desperate, stepping on the gas all the way. He even ran a red light at an empty intersection, racking up 6 demerit points, just to barely catch up to Gu Xiyue.

Just as Gu Xiyue was about to get in her car and leave, Fei Yangyao didn’t even have time to straighten his clothes. In a flustered mess, he scrambled out of the car and chased after her, nearly falling.

In his panic, he didn’t notice Gu Xiyue’s expression. She turned around at the sound of his voice and looked at the disheveled man running toward her. What she didn’t realize was that a faint smile appeared at the corner of her lips, a glint of mischief briefly lit up her eyes, but she quickly masked it. Her movement to open the car door suddenly became slower than a sloth’s.

“Xiyue, wait… huff… huff huff… wait…” Fei Yangyao gasped heavily as he finally ran up to Gu Xiyue, breathing hard.

“Is something the matter, Young Master Fei?” Seeing the annoying man arrive, Gu Xiyue had no choice but to pause her actions and feign indifference with a neutral tone.

Strange. He had run all this way and spent so much time catching up—why hadn’t Gu Xiyue gotten into the car yet? Could it be… he had hidden athletic talent?

No time to think about that now. Still panting, Fei Yangyao quickly began to check through the checklist in his mind.

As the first grand drama of this novel, Fei Yangyao took it very seriously.

Props? He had a few Supreme Roses, rare as treasures, dozens of fresh, vibrant red roses, a large bundle of assorted red flowers whose names he couldn’t recall… and yes, a few fake ones too. Though not exactly exquisite, they were better than nothing. Hopefully, she wouldn’t pay too much attention to the details. Check.

Setting? In front of the Gu Corporation building—beautiful surroundings, great atmosphere, and more importantly, it was the designated location from the original novel. Perfect. Check.

Cast? He was here. Gu Xiyue was here. Ye Chen? A glance—present. Perfect. Check.

Everything was ready. All that was left was to let the scene unfold step by step. As long as there were no mishaps in the performance, and things followed the plan, this moment would easily pass—and maybe even earn a high score.

What irritated Gu Xiyue was that her question went unanswered. That annoying man was still glancing around like something in the surroundings was more important than her, completely absent-minded.

That truly angered her.

Her brows furrowed, her eyes sharp with fury. She snapped, “Fei Yangyao, I’m talking to you! Are you deaf? If that’s how it is, I don’t need to stay here. I have far more important things to do. So if there’s nothing else, I’ll be leaving. And let me give you a serious warning—don’t ever bother me again! Or don’t blame me for being rude!” With that, she turned to leave.

“What day is it?” Gu Xiyue turned back, wanting to hear what nonsense he had to say now.

“Today is the 909th day since we first met! From the moment I first saw you, I knew—you were the one and only love of my life. My love for you is eternal, just like the heavens and earth. From now on, you will be the brightest moon in my heart, and I will be the burning sun in your life. Wherever you are, whatever you need, I will be there for you—your warmest, strongest support.”

“…”

If this annoying man had said this with genuine eyes and a sincere tone, Gu Xiyue might have been a little touched—but she’d still firmly reject him without hesitation and tell him to stop dreaming.

But right now…

Fei Yangyao’s mouth was opening and closing like a robot, words bouncing out awkwardly in stiff rhythm as he recited rigid lines. His eyes kept darting toward the security guards behind her.

So what? Was he actually confessing to the security guards?

Am I just some prop in your little play?

Then why come to me at all? Just go confess to them instead!

This is just humiliating!

Gu Xiyue’s eyes practically flared with flames. Her expression grew more furious by the second, her chest heaving with rage. She wanted to lunge forward and bite him.

Fei Yangyao ignored her and, standing in place, snapped his fingers. A lavishly decorated flower vehicle slowly approached. “Xiyue, this is my gift to you—520 Supreme Roses, symbolizing my love. Will you be my girlfriend?”

As Gu Xiyue looked toward the vehicle, a tall annoying man subtly shifted, stepping in to block her view.

Not only that, his eyes were darting all around, clearly trying to hide something.

There’s something fishy here!

She yanked him aside and strode forward to inspect the flowers. With just one glance, she noticed they weren’t Supreme Roses at all—most were just regular flowers. And the worst part? There were even fake flowers!

Gu Xiyue exploded, “Fei Yangyao!”

“Yes!” The guilty culprit instinctively answered, his heart pounding in panic.

Right now, his head was spinning with confusion and anxiety.

What went wrong? Logically, she shouldn’t have even looked at the roses, right? So why had she gone to inspect them so closely?

What now?

Wait a minute—wasn’t this even better?

Wasn’t the goal to make her feel disgusted and reject him, so the fake public relationship mission between the female lead and protagonist could progress smoothly? If she really grew disgusted, wouldn’t that be the ideal outcome?

With that thought, Fei Yangyao suddenly felt confident again.

He straightened his back and asked calmly, “What’s the problem? Is something wrong?”

“Fei Yangyao, what do you mean by this? Why are you doing this to me? There are so many women in the world—why are you fixated on me?

“For the past two and a half years, you’ve harassed me at work every day. Every time, your eyes were wide open but empty. Everyone thought you were looking at me—but you weren’t!

“Your eyes were unfocused. You treated me like decoration, just mumbling your lines like you were completing some mission. Every single time it was the same. You never changed.

“No matter what I said, you never responded. You’d just toss out a line like, ‘Xiyue, I’ll be back tomorrow,’ and leave. Never! Never once did you acknowledge me!

“And now? You didn’t show up at all yesterday, didn’t say a word, didn’t even give an excuse. Today, you show up with fake flowers to brush me off.

“Fine! You won’t even look me in the eyes now. What am I to you, Fei Yangyao? Some cheap thing you can insult like this? If you don’t explain yourself today, don’t think this ends here!!”
