About forty minutes later, the car drove into a huge courtyard. In the center stood a massive pure white villa.

From the outside, the villa had five floors. Beside it were two smaller two-story houses, along with a garden, fountain, and lawn—everything was complete.

Meng Shining widened her eyes. This estate-like villa was supposed to be her and Jiang Wenyan’s home?Full novel: The Villainous Female Supporting Character is Stunned and Thinking Out Loud — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

What a grand gesture!

Following Jiang Wenyan into the house, the butler and servants were already waiting in the hall.

“Madam, your room is on the second floor to the right. If you need anything, just call me.” The butler wore a professional smile and, after introducing the servants, bowed respectfully.

Meng Shining nodded. She didn’t care about her own room at the moment. What interested her was where Jiang Wenyan’s room was.

“Where is Jiang Wenyan’s room?” she whispered to the butler.

Jiang Wenyan did not stop, heading straight upstairs, leaving only his back for everyone to see.

The butler glanced up. “Also on the second floor, next to your room.”

Meng Shining thought quickly. She could either knock on his door later or follow him now and stay in his room.

The first option was harder. Who knew if he would open the door in the middle of the night? And when exactly would the “one night together” start counting?

So, to be safe, she decided to follow Jiang Wenyan back to his room and stay there.

“Bao Linglong, don’t you think this task is a bit ridiculous?” Meng Shining complained as she followed Jiang Wenyan’s steps.

“Was the task of following Lin Siqing for a whole day reasonable?” Bao Linglong retorted.

Meng Shining had no words.

In short, the system assigning tasks was a system with a problem.

Jiang Wenyan opened the door to his room and was about to close it when he saw Meng Shining sneaking around at the doorway, her hand still on the door.

“Your room is over there.” Jiang Wenyan’s voice was cold, like midwinter snow falling on a homeless person.

Meng Shining smiled softly. “We are engaged, aren’t we? Shouldn’t we communicate a little, build some feelings? Right?”

As she spoke, she slipped into Jiang Wenyan’s room. “So I’m here to communicate feelings with you.”

Jiang Wenyan’s eyes were cold and sharp. His voice grew even colder than before. “No need. Leave.”

“Eh… I’ll be quick. We can have a couple drinks, and then I’ll leave.” Meng Shining had just stepped in, barely touching the bed, and he was already telling her to go.

Hearing her mention of drinking, Jiang Wenyan recalled the bitter experience of that night. “No drinks. Leave.”

“I… I…” Meng Shining momentarily couldn’t think of an excuse to stay.

She had almost given up. But after six days of tasks, this was the last one. Victory was within reach. She couldn’t give up now.

Meng Shining took a deep breath and slowly exhaled. “It’s a new place. I’m scared to sleep alone. I want to sleep with you.”

Jiang Wenyan was slightly taken aback. He did not expect her to be so direct. His expression did not change, but his tone became firmer. “Then don’t sleep. Leave.”

Meng Shining did not expect him to be so stubborn. She felt indignant.

“Just tonight, okay? I beg you. Only tonight. I promise, I will never sleep with you again after this.” Meng Shining raised her hand and swore.

“No.” Jiang Wenyan refused coldly.

“Jiang Wenyan, I’m really scared. Just tonight. After tonight, I swear I will never sleep with you again.” Meng Shining continued to insist.

Jiang Wenyan remained unmoved, looking down at her. “Are you going to sleep with anyone just because you are scared?”

Meng Shining rolled her eyes. “What kind of words are those? Listen to yourself.”

“You are technically my fiancée, right? Sleeping with your fiancé for a night is normal. I won’t touch you. Just sleeping under the covers. What’s there to be afraid of?” Meng Shining became emotional.

She had already decided to complete this task. Nothing could change it.

Jiang Wenyan opened the door and made a gesture as if inviting her out. “Do you want me to have someone carry you out?”

Seeing that both soft and hard approaches failed, Meng Shining could only return to her room to think of a plan and take a bath. She had been exhausted all day.

Stepping out of the room, she glanced at Jiang Wenyan from head to toe. “You don’t happen to have some hidden condition you’re afraid will be discovered, do you?”

Jiang Wenyan glanced at her coldly and slammed the door shut.

Damn, what a terrible temper!

Meng Shining had no choice but to return to her own room to figure something out.

“System, don’t you have some sleeping drug or something to knock him out?” Meng Shining fretted. She didn’t know what to do. She used to be a sloppy novelist. You could have her write “bed scenes,” but thinking to complete tasks was another matter.

This is just making things hard!

She filled the bath, took a set of pajamas from her wardrobe, and decided to enjoy herself first before worrying about the task.

After her bath, Meng Shining put on her pajamas and sneaked out of her room.

Standing outside Jiang Wenyan’s room, she neither knocked nor opened the door. She pressed her ear against it to listen.

Whether it was the quality of the door or that Jiang Wenyan had already gone to bed, she could not hear a sound.

Focusing all her attention, Meng Shining strained to listen.

“What are you doing?” Jiang Wenyan’s cold voice came from behind.

Meng Shining jumped, bouncing back two steps and colliding into Jiang Wenyan.

He reached out to steady her, unwilling for her to fall and cause trouble.

Her heart raced. She looked at Jiang Wenyan, whose face was unreadable, and complained, “Can’t you make a bit of noise while walking? Do you know how scary that was? I nearly had a heart attack. You scared me half to death.”

Then her thoughts shifted. Feeling wronged, she lowered her eyes. “I was already scared. Now you scared me even more. My heart is probably racing at 120. I don’t care. My chest feels uncomfortable. Tonight you have to stay with me.”

“Playing victim?” Jiang Wenyan had never met someone so good at exploiting situations. His tone carried a faintly imperceptible smile.

“I don’t care. I’m scared. I can’t sleep alone. Tonight, no matter what, you have to sleep with me.”

“Just for one night. Think of me as a beggar on the street. You’re just showing mercy for one night.” Meng Shining blinked, looking pitiful. Her eyes glimmered, full of expectation.

“Meng Shining, I am a man,” Jiang Wenyan said, a little helpless.

“I know. Don’t worry. I’m not interested in you. I won’t do anything to you.” Meng Shining waved her hand.
