Congratulations host on completing the first stage check-in tasks.
This task is a mind-reading upgrade task, completion rate 100 percent.
Mind-reading upgrade in progress, please wait.
Meng Shining’s eyes lit up, finally, after a busy week, she had been waiting for this moment.
Not that she could hear everyone’s thoughts at any time yet, but at least it was no longer just one thought every three days.
Back in her room, Meng Shining did not think about anything else, focusing entirely on waiting for the mind-reading upgrade to complete.
Jiang Wenyan finished breakfast and glanced in the direction of Meng Shining’s room.
The door was tightly shut.
The butler looked at Jiang Wenyan, “Should I call madam down for breakfast?”
Jiang Wenyan adjusted his tie, “No need, prepare the car.”
The butler nodded respectfully without saying anything further and went to prepare the car.
Meng Shining squatted on the sofa in her room, keeping her eyes on the upgrade progress.
Upgrade complete 89 percent.
Upgrade complete 94 percent.
Upgrade complete 99 percent.
Meng Shining suddenly felt nervous.
Finally, it reached 100 percent.
Upgrade complete 100 percent, mind-reading successfully upgraded.
Mind-reading version 1.0 successfully upgraded.
The latest mind-reading version is 1.1.
Update log: fixed known bugs, optimized host experience.
Then, nothing happened.
Meng Shining was stunned, the mind-reading had been upgraded, yet it seemed as if it had not.
“System, come on, you told me completing the check-in tasks would upgrade it, so this is what you call an upgrade?” Meng Shining laughed angrily.
Really ridiculous, really ridiculous.
Bao Linglong scratched its non-existent head and said in a slightly guilty tone, “Well, host, the upgrade is the technical department’s responsibility. I am just the liaison for the client, I really have no idea.”
“One round of check-in tasks for seven days and the final upgrade is only 0.1, do you think I am a fool? Did you think I am a sick cat?” Meng Shining was furious, thinking about how many brain cells she had died for these tasks.
For example yesterday, she had to sleep with Jiang Wenyan, crawling all over him, insisting to share a bed.
Almost begging with her face pressed against him.
And yet the upgrade amounted to nothing.
They even said they optimized the experience, what a joke.
Host, don’t be angry, at the weekly meeting I will severely reprimand the technical department.
Bao Linglong rarely spoke to soothe her, “Host, don’t worry, I will get you an explanation. Before that, do you want to start the second round of check-in tasks?”
Meng Shining roared, “I will blast you with a loudspeaker, go away. Whoever wants to do this task can do it, I am done.”
“If I do this task again, I am a pig, a pig whose brains were dug out” Meng Shining shouted, never before feeling her lungs about to explode from anger.
Bao Linglong, seeing her on a rage, silently logged off.
In the main system meeting room.
Bao Linglong floated in midair, “Supervisor, the technical department went too far this time, now the host refuses to do tasks for points, I can’t handle this, you deal with it.”
“Alright, alright, this is the technical department’s fault. Calm her down, give her a bonus and a compensation package for the host” said the system supervisor firmly.
Bao Linglong immediately happily left.
Meng Shining decided that no matter what the system said, she would not believe it, she would absolutely not do this task.
Feeling a bit hungry, Meng Shining left her room. In the afternoon, she needed to go home and meet Ji Yao to look at houses as a reward for her engagement.
The butler saw her and quickly instructed the kitchen to serve the kept-warm breakfast.
After finishing, Meng Shining began exploring the entire villa.
The villa had five floors, two underground and three above ground.
Basement two had an indoor heated swimming pool, sauna, steam room, and hot spring pool.
There was also a beauty room for home treatments.
One side of basement one was designed as a children’s play area with all toys and equipment, the other side was a gym.
The first floor had the main reception hall, tea room, two dining rooms, and the kitchen.
The second floor had two large suites, one for Meng Shining, one for Jiang Wenyan, as they were not married yet.
The third floor had several areas, including a study with a safe room, a cinema, and a large esports room.
After finishing the indoor tour, Meng Shining went outside.
The butler followed, introducing each area.
The garden was large, with a vast lawn behind the house and fruit trees beyond that.
“Does all this belong to the villa?” Meng Shining swallowed, she had only seen the front garden at night.
“Yes, madam” the butler replied respectfully.
Meng Shining pointed at the two two-story buildings on each side, “And these?”
“The left is the servants’ quarters and rest area, the right is the bodyguards’ quarters and rest area” the butler smiled.
Meng Shining was stunned, even the servants had a villa to live in.
After lunch at the villa, the butler arranged a car to send Meng Shining back to the Meng residence.
Seeing Meng Ci’an still at home, she was surprised, “Brother, you didn’t go to work? Did dad fire you for being incompetent?”
Meng Ci’an paused at the door, glanced at Meng Shining, “Why are you back? Did the Jiang family send you back because you are annoying?”
Meng Shining rolled her eyes, ignoring him, and went to Ji Yao, resting her head on her shoulder and acting spoiled, “Mom, look at brother, he bullied me again”
Ji Yao patted Meng Shining’s back and looked at Meng Ci’an helplessly, “Why are you fussing with your sister, she is always clumsy”
Meng Shining looked up at Ji Yao in disbelief, was not she supposed to be the only daughter loved most by her parents?
Why did things change so quickly?
Meng Ci’an snorted, “I forgot”
Without looking back, he left.
“Baby, come, I have seen several properties today, we will definitely find one you like” Ji Yao said, holding her hand and lightly patting it.
