Chapter 16: New Roots

The Void Empress Returns: A F*tanari’s Path to Immortal Domination

The Floating Orchid Pavilion was one of the quieter residential areas on a mid-level island of the Void Empress Sky Palace. It was not the most luxurious district, but it was far better than anything Su Qinglan’s family had ever known.

Su Wei stood on the balcony of their newly assigned residence, looking out at the endless sea of clouds drifting far below. The air was fresh, filled with faint spiritual energy that helped heal their battered bodies. For the first time in months, he was wearing clean, high-quality robes. His wounds had been treated with proper healing pills, and his meridians were slowly recovering.

Yet his expression remained heavy.

Behind him, inside the elegantly furnished hall, his wife Liu Mei was helping their son Su Chen practice basic breathing exercises. The boy’s thin frame was already showing signs of improvement after just two days of proper food and spiritual nourishment.

“Mother… will Big Sister really come visit us today?” Su Chen asked quietly, his voice still carrying the trauma of their long imprisonment.

Liu Mei smiled gently, though worry lingered in her eyes. “She said she would. The Young Mistress gave her permission to spend time with us.”

Su Wei turned away from the balcony and walked back inside. He sat down heavily on a cushioned chair, rubbing his face.

“This place… it’s beautiful,” he said slowly. “Better than anything we could have imagined. The spiritual energy here is rich. They’ve given us cultivation manuals, resources, even servants to attend to us. But…”

“But we’re still prisoners,” Liu Mei finished quietly, voicing what they were all thinking. She stroked her son’s hair as she continued. “We were rescued from one cage and placed in a much more beautiful one.”

Su Wei nodded. “Qinglan has changed. I can see it in her eyes. That devotion… it’s not normal. The way she speaks about the Young Mistress, it’s like she’s speaking about a goddess. I’m grateful she saved us, but I fear what price she paid for our freedom.”

A soft knock sounded at the door. Su Qinglan entered, wearing elegant attendant robes. Her aura was noticeably stronger than before, and a faint trace of black-purple energy lingered around her.

“Father. Mother. Chen’er.” She smiled warmly as she stepped inside, though there was a subtle deference in her posture that hadn’t existed before.

Liu Mei immediately pulled her daughter into a hug. “Qinglan! Come, sit with us. How are you? Has the Young Mistress been treating you well?”

Su Qinglan’s cheeks flushed slightly. She sat down gracefully between her parents, holding their hands.

“The Young Mistress has been… very generous,” she said carefully. “She gave me strength. My cultivation is now at the 8th layer of Qi Condensation. She also promised that all of you will receive the best resources to recover and cultivate. We no longer have to live in fear of the Heavenly Radiance Sect.”

Su Wei studied his daughter carefully. “And what does she demand in return?”

Su Qinglan lowered her gaze for a moment, then looked up with quiet determination.

“My complete loyalty. My service. And… my heart.” Her voice softened with genuine emotion. “I know it sounds frightening. But she is not like those hypocrites in the Radiance Sect. She is honest in her dominance. If we serve her faithfully, she will protect us. She has already proven that by rescuing you.”

A heavy silence fell over the family.

Liu Mei gently squeezed her daughter’s hand. “We are grateful, truly. But seeing you like this… so devoted… it worries us as parents. You were always such a proud girl. Now you speak of her with such reverence.”

Su Qinglan smiled softly, a hint of blissful submission in her eyes. “I was proud once. But pride nearly got all of us killed. The Empress… she showed me true power. She broke the chains the Radiance Sect put on me and gave me something greater. I don’t expect you to understand right away. Just know that I am happier now than I have been in years.”

Young Su Chen looked up at his sister with wide eyes. “Big Sister… are you happy?”

Su Qinglan reached out and gently ruffled his hair. “I am, Chen’er. And soon, you will be too. The Young Mistress has promised that you can start cultivating properly. You won’t have to live in fear anymore.”

Su Wei let out a long sigh. “Then we will do our best to adapt. We owe her our lives. As long as our family stays together and safe, we will serve the Void Clan loyally.”

The conversation gradually shifted to lighter topics, the beauty of the Sky Palace, the training opportunities available, and small hopes for the future. Yet underneath it all lingered a quiet tension. They were safe, well-fed, and cared for, but they all understood that their new life came with invisible chains.

Later that evening, as Su Qinglan prepared to leave for her nightly duties, Liu Mei pulled her aside near the door.

“Qinglan,” she whispered, concern etched on her face. “If the Young Mistress ever… hurts you, or demands something you cannot give, you must tell us. We are your family.”

Su Qinglan smiled gently, though her eyes held unshakable devotion.

“Mother… she doesn’t hurt me. She owns me. And I have never been happier.”

With those words, she bowed respectfully and left to return to the Empress’s chambers.

Su Wei and Liu Mei watched their daughter disappear down the corridor, holding each other tightly. They were grateful. They were terrified. And they were slowly beginning to understand that their lives, and their daughter’s soul, now belonged to the Void Empress.

In the Grand Radiance Arena of the Holy Radiance Peak, thousands of disciples had gathered under the brilliant morning sun. The atmosphere was heavy with tension and anticipation. This was no ordinary assembly. Only the elite chosen to represent the Heavenly Radiance Sect in the upcoming Azure Veil Grand Sect Tournament had been summoned.

Saintess Mu Hui stood on the elevated central platform, radiant and imposing. Her long crimson-purple hair flowed like liquid fire down her back, the straight bangs framing her exquisite, cold face. Her amethyst-purple eyes scanned the crowd with piercing intensity. The sacred white-and-gold dress she wore clung tightly to her exaggerated figure, her massive, and heavy breasts straining against the fabric, threatening to spill out with every breath, while her narrow waist flared into wide, fertile hips and a plump rear that drew many secret glances.

She had spent the previous night in restless obsession, and the lack of sleep only seemed to fuel the dark fire burning within her.

Mu Hui raised her hand, and the entire arena fell into absolute silence.

“Disciples of the Heavenly Radiance Sect,” her voice rang out clear and powerful, amplified by spiritual formations. “The Azure Veil Grand Sect Tournament approaches. For too long, we have allowed the declining remnants of ancient clans to breathe the same air as us. Especially that pathetic shadow known as the Primordial Void Immortal Clan.”

Murmurs rippled through the crowd at the mention of their long-time rival.

Mu Hui’s expression twisted with visible disgust and hatred.

“Two nights ago, our Shadow Suppression Prison was breached. Seven of our guards were slaughtered like insects. One of our own was flayed alive and left as a disgusting warning. The Su family, our prisoners, were taken. This was not the work of some ordinary elder. This was an act of open provocation by the Void Clan.”

Her voice grew colder, laced with fanaticism.

“They dare grow bold because their so-called Young Mistress achieved a lucky breakthrough to the Spiritual Sea Realm. They think they can challenge us? They think they can insult the dignity of the Heavenly Radiance Sect?”

She stepped forward, her massive breasts jiggling noticeably with the motion, drawing the eyes of many male disciples despite the gravity of the situation.

“Let me remind you of the truth!” Mu Hui’s voice thundered across the arena. “The current Void Clan are nothing but traitors and degenerates! They betrayed their own ancestor, the great Void Empress Xuan Yin, during her ascension. They are unworthy of the power they inherited. And now, they have the audacity to bare their fangs at us?”

Her purple eyes burned with obsessive intensity.

“I have seen the remnants of the power used in that prison. It carries the scent of the ancient Void. If they have begun to awaken even a fraction of their ancestor’s true strength, then this tournament is no longer just about resources and prestige. It is about purging a stain from the continent!”

She raised her hand, golden holy flames flickering around her fingers.

“To all of you who will fight in the tournament — I expect nothing less than total victory. Crush every Void Clan disciple you face. Humiliate them. Break them. Show them the difference between true righteousness and the filthy legacy of traitors!”

Her voice reached a feverish pitch.

“If you encounter Ling Zihan… do not underestimate her. But do not fear her either. She is merely a vessel. And I… I will personally ensure that whatever shadow of the Empress she carries is extinguished by my own hands.”

A terrifying smile bloomed on Mu Hui’s beautiful face.

“Go forth and remind the Azure Veil Continent why the Heavenly Radiance Sect stands at the pinnacle. Show them the price of defying us. For glory! For justice! For the eternal radiance!”

“FOR THE ETERNAL RADIANCE!” the disciples roared back in unison, their voices shaking the arena.

Mu Hui stood tall on the platform as the cheers washed over her, her voluptuous body radiating both holy light and dark obsession. Inside, her thoughts were far from the righteous speech she had just given.

Ling Zihan… if you truly carry even a sliver of the Empress’s power, then I will be the one to break you. I will make you kneel and watch as I prove myself more worthy of her legacy than any of you traitors ever could.

She turned and descended from the platform, her wide hips swaying seductively as the crowd continued cheering. The preparations for war had truly begun.

The Heavenly Radiance Sect was no longer simply competing.

They were preparing for annihilation.
