The afternoon wind of July 2nd swept through the shattered glass of the cafe, carrying the chill of a world on the verge of collapse.
Cheng Jiang stood amidst the ruins, watching Xing Jia tremble, but in her eyes, fear was gradually being replaced by resentment and a hint of superior cunning.
“You think…
just a fist will do the trick?” Xing Jia struggled to her feet, clinging to the table, her voice still trembling but regaining a touch of arrogance: “My clan awakened three high-level combat-type individuals last night.
The law may be lax, but the courts and the military are still there.
Today you assaulted my people, tomorrow the Awakened Alliance’s bounty will be plastered all over the city.
Let’s see how long you can protect that pretentious bitch!”
Cheng Jiang narrowed his eyes.
Xing Jia’s words were like a bucket of cold water poured over his head.
That’s right, he’s just awakened, and while his Copy & Upgrade ability is incredibly powerful, he’s still just a rookie, not to mention he has a fatal weakness that only he knows about.
Confronting an entire powerful family head-on right now would be suicide.
He needs time.
