By the time Lillian returned home, the afternoon had already begun fading into evening.
The Moore residence stood behind tall gates, surrounded by carefully maintained gardens.
It was large and luxurious, but unlike many wealthy family homes, it never felt cold.
Lillian loved that about her family.
The moment she stepped through the front door, she heard voices coming from the living room.
“She’s back!”
Her younger brother Perry Moore said.
He walked quickly toward her.
“You took so long!”
Lillian laughed.
“Hello to you too.”
“Where were you?” Perry asked
“The airport.”
“With Ethan?” Perry questioned seriously
She raised an eyebrow.
“Why are you interrogating me?”
“I’m not interrogating you.”
“You are.”
“I’m just asking questions.”
Lillian laughed and gently tapped his forehead.
“You ask too many questions.”
A beautiful woman walked into the room and called .”that’s her mother Evelyn Moore”
“Lillian.”
“Mom.”
Evelyn immediately hugged her.
“How was your day?”
“Fine.”
“Did you meet Ethan?”
“Yes.”
Perry immediately folded his arms.
“And?”
Lillian looked at him.
“And what?”
“Do you like him?”
Lillian laughed.
“It’s too early to know if I like him or not”.
Evelyn sighed.
“You haven’t even spent time with him.”
“I know she sighed..I am planning to”.
Victor Moore, Lillian’s father, lowered the newspaper he had been reading.a very strict but calm aura comes from him then asked
“Why don’t you like him?”
she shrugged raising her shoulder to express.
“I don’t know.”she replied sincerely.
“That’s not an answer.”
“It is to me”.
Perry Moore interrupted she shouldn’t even like him at all”.
he added.
Victor chuckled.
“You’re very protective of your sister.”
“Of course.”
Lillian smiled.
“Thank you.” then she pat his hair.
Her brother immediately looked proudly.
” such a proud idiot,.
Evenlyn commented and hit him on the head.
Perry shouted mum and Lillian chuckled
The family spent the next few hours together.
They ate dinner at the large dining table, talked about ordinary things, and laughed when Perry complained about a game he had lost.
At one point, he looked at Lillian.
“Lilian am I your most handsome and cute brother?”
“No.”
“why ?”
“I know you need something from me.”
“not really?” he replied” are you sure ?
Lillian laughed.
“pls tell Big brother to increase my allowance” he begged while doing a cutie eye.
“eat your food perry and don’t disturb your sister or there’s no allowance this month for you.
Evenlyn stated
He picked up his fork.
“Fine I will eat.
Evelyn smiled at her daughter.
“You seem relaxed.”
“I am.”
“Did you two decide anything?”
“We’re going to go on a date.”
Victor nodded.
“That’s good.
You should get to know each other.”
Lillian nodded.
“That’s what I thought too.”
After dinner, Lillian went upstairs.
She changed into comfortable clothes and sat on her bed while scrolling through her phone.
She was still thinking about Ethan.
She didn’t know whether she liked him.
There was simply nothing there yet.
Maybe that would change after they spent more time together.
She was about to put her phone down when it vibrated.
A message.
Ethan: Are you free tonight?
Lillian smiled.
Lillian: Yes.
I thought we were going on a date.
A few seconds passed.
Ethan: I was thinking we should go somewhere else.
Lillian frowned.
Lillian: Where?
His reply came almost immediately.
Ethan: A club.
She stared at the message.
A club?
That wasn’t what she had expected.
She had imagined dinner somewhere quiet where they could talk.
Still, she didn’t want to judge him too quickly.
Lillian: Okay.
What time?
Ethan: I’ll pick you up.
Lillian put her phone down.
She looked at herself in the mirror.
“Well…”
She shrugged.
“It might still be fun.”
She went downstairs again.
Perry looked up and asked.
“You’re going out?”
“Yes.”
“With Ethan?”
“Yes.”
His expression immediately darkened.
“Again?”
Lillian laughed.
“It’s called a date.”
“I don’t like him.” he pouted
“Nobody asked you to.”
He looked toward Evelyn.
“Mom.”
Evelyn shook her head.
“Let your sister go.”
“But—”
“No.”
He sulked.
Victor laughed.
Lillian hugged her mother.
Her mother smiled.
“Just enjoy yourself.”
Lillian hugged her father too.
“Goodnight, Dad.”
“Goodnight.”
She walked outside.
Ethan’s car was waiting.
She entered and settled into the seat.
“Hi.”
“Hi,” Ethan replied.
The car pulled away.
Lillian looked out the window.
The city lights were beginning to brighten.
She thought about the evening ahead.
Maybe tonight she would finally understand Ethan.
Maybe they would discover that they actually suited each other.
She smiled faintly..
For now, Lillian simply watched the city pass outside the window.
Tonight is going to be her first real date with her fiancé.
