However, wanting to go buy supplies, Edmond now had two problems to solve.
One was that he didn’t know where there was a village or small town, and the other problem was that he had no money.
That’s right, Edmond didn’t have a single penny on him right now.
When he left with his teacher in the village, he hadn’t anticipated this, so he hadn’t brought any money at all.
And while living in the teacher’s small building, there was simply no place where he needed to spend money; everything was provided to him for free.
By the time he was kicked out, he hadn’t thought about this matter at all, so now he was penniless.
However, Edmond didn’t really care about this.
After all, he was a mage, surely he wouldn’t starve to death.
What he was most worried about was not being able to find where to go to find a village or small town.
But he didn’t continue thinking about it now; after all, this kind of thing could only be found by looking for it later.
Thinking about it now was useless.
After finishing dinner, Edmond sat at the cave entrance to digest for a while before continuing to record the Bone Modification Spell.
As time passed, many pairs of green eyes lit up outside the cave once again.
These past few nights, these eyes would appear, lingering at the cave entrance, and disappear on their own after a while.
But tonight, it seemed a bit different; those green eyes were actually slowly approaching the cave.
Once these eyes left the shadows of the woods, under the moonlight, their bodies were finally revealed.
It turned out to be a pack of black wild wolves.
This group of wolves all had sturdy bodies, their fur gleaming with a dark luster under the moonlight.
At a rough glance, the number of wolves was actually over a dozen.
“Woo-roar~”
The leading black wolf had an exceptionally sturdy build.
It emitted a low roar from its throat, its green pupils reflecting the firelight from inside the cave.
Following the Alpha Wolf’s low growl, the pack of wolves obviously quickened their pace and began to sprint towards the direction of the cave.
Facing the approaching wolf pack, the four skeletons guarding the cave entrance still didn’t make any movements, but the Soul Fire in their eye sockets flickered violently.
…
Meanwhile, inside the cave, Edmond had just finished recording all the contents of the Bone Modification Spell.
He put down the quill in his hand, looked at the two spellbooks in front of him, and felt a great sense of accomplishment.
But just as he was about to check it again to see if he had written anything wrong, the Mental Contract in his mind suddenly stirred.
“Hmm?”
Edmond made a sound of confusion.
Just a moment ago, the skeletons guarding the cave entrance had suddenly sent a fluctuation through the Mental Contract.
“What happened?”
He stood up directly and walked quickly towards the cave entrance.
When he reached the cave entrance, his pupils constricted immediately.
He saw a large pack of black wolves sprinting towards the cave entrance under the cover of night.
Immediately, Edmond used his mind to issue commands to the four skeletons.
“Ka-ka~”
The four skeletons guarding the entrance immediately went into action.
They looked at the black wolves rushing towards them, opening and closing their jaws, emitting silent roars.
The Alpha Wolf seemed to understand that it had been discovered, so it simply stopped hiding and howled loudly.
“Woo-howl!”
Influenced by this cry, the speed of all the black wolves increased instantly, and they rushed madly towards the cave.
Soon, one black wolf rushed to the front of the cave entrance and pounced on the leftmost skeleton.
“Bang!”
The skeleton didn’t react in time and was directly pounced on by the black wolf.
“Click!
Click!”
Under the powerful impact, the skeleton couldn’t stop retreating several steps, and finally fell directly to the ground.
The bone armor colliding with the ground made a dull sound.
But this skeleton was not affected by this; the Soul Fire in the eye sockets beneath the bone helmet flickered violently.
It swung its sharp claws fiercely and then stabbed them ruthlessly into the back of the black wolf on top of it.
“Ssh~”
After the sharp claws pierced into the body, it began to tear frantically.
Large chunks of flesh and blood were torn off, and blood sprayed out along with it.
In just an instant, the black wolf’s back became a bloody mess; the skin and flesh were completely torn open, and large amounts of blood flowed down.
“Awoo!”
Having received such an attack, the black wolf let out an incredibly shrill wail, but it also became completely crazed because of the pain.
With scarlet eyes, it frantically attacked the skeleton beneath it with its mouth and front paws.
But its attacks didn’t cause any damage at all; the sharp claws scratching on the thick bone armor only left a few deep claw marks.
The wolf’s mouth bit onto the bone, and under the frantic tearing, the bone did indeed develop slight cracks.
But for the skeleton, these couldn’t even be considered injuries.
This skeleton was not affected at all and continued to swing its sharp claws, tearing at the black wolf’s flesh.
Soon, the black wolf’s attack movements slowed down, and finally, it fell completely silent.
Under the skeleton’s attack, the black wolf’s back was almost completely hollowed out, revealing the horrifying sight inside its body.
And that skeleton stood up almost completely intact.
The other black wolves saw this scene, their pupils constricted, and they immediately stopped their movements in fear.
The Alpha Wolf also revealed a look of horror, as if it had never encountered such prey before.
And just as the wolf pack paused, the four skeletons, under Edmond’s command, pounced towards them.
“Woo-howl~”
Because the distance was very close, three black wolves were immediately pounced on by the skeletons, and only one black wolf luckily dodged.
Accompanied by the waving of sharp claws, a mist of blood spread under the moonlight, and screams rose one after another.
And this wasn’t over yet; Edmond had already made his move.
A green fireball the size of a human head appeared out of thin air beside him, and then shot towards the Alpha Wolf.
Because the speed was too fast, the Alpha Wolf couldn’t react at all; just as its body made a move, the Ghost Fireball had already hit its body.
“Bang!”
The powerful impact directly knocked the Alpha Wolf flying, and it fell heavily to the ground.
At the same time, green flames spread rapidly over its body, and soon completely engulfed it in flames.
“Woo-howl!”
An incomparably shrill wail came from the Alpha Wolf’s mouth; it struggled frantically, wanting to crawl up, but each time it fell back down in extreme pain.
After struggling a few times, it had completely stopped moving; only the green flames continued to devour its body.
“Howl!”
Seeing their leader die just like that, the other black wolves also completely collapsed; they scattered in terror into the woods.
Edmond didn’t stop casting Spells; a one-meter-long Bone Spear condensed beside him and shot out once again.
“Swish!”
Accompanied by a sound of breaking through the air, the Bone Spear directly nailed a black wolf to the ground.
