Ivy Doom was a transmigrator.

A genuine, textbook example of one.

Dead parents, no little sister, and even a house of his own—the full standard package.Full novel: The Wizard’s Path: Hogwarts to Strixhaven — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

When he first crossed over from China to London more than a century in the past, he had resisted the idea completely.

But before long, he could only admit one thing:

Magic really was irresistible.

Later, he enrolled at Hogwarts as a fifth-year transfer student.

He attended the Sorting Ceremony alongside that year’s freshmen and was successfully sorted into Slytherin House.

After a full year of school life—and a series of adventures involving him acting as a savior figure—he was ultimately sealed within crystal by magical power he himself could no longer control.

And now, in the year 1991, Ivy Doom had finally seen daylight again with the help of that old honey-loving bee, Albus Dumbledore.

The very first sentence he heard upon awakening was—

“Merlin’s beard, look at his robes!

He’s a Slytherin!”

Excellent taste!

I didn’t restart the game just to wear this outfit for nothing.

Obviously, “Ivy Doom” was not a name that sounded remotely Chinese.

When he transmigrated, it seemed he had directly inherited the character save from Hogwarts Legacy.

Not only did he gain a perfect old-fashioned London accent, but he also inherited extraordinary magical talent.

Yes, including the deluxe version of Avada Kedavra with the lightning-fast combo package.

After arriving in this real magical world, he made a shocking discovery—his original name no longer existed.

Or rather, to put it more accurately, it could no longer refer to him.

There existed a spell in the wizarding world called the Summoning Charm for Names, a rather simple bit of magic.

In short, it was how owls found the people they were delivering letters to.

It was through this spell that Ivy discovered his old name no longer pointed toward him at all.

Perhaps Muggle names lacked magical power and could no longer trigger the spell’s response.

Whatever the reason, it had been replaced by the name he personally typed onto a computer screen with his own hands—

Ivy Doom.

At that moment, he felt endlessly grateful that he had chosen such a normal name for immersion purposes instead of embracing the true spirit of a gamer and naming himself something absurd like “Mom Says Only Real Bros Read Full Usernames Out Loud.”

And that was the origin of the name Ivy Doom.

“Dumbledore, I don’t recall ever going blind.”

The youngest Head of Slytherin lightly mocked his colleague and employer while crouching down to inspect the child who had fallen out of the crystal.

“Mmm…” Ivy woke at precisely the right moment—only to jump in fright after seeing the greasy black hair looming above him.

“Who are you people?

And why are you inside my Map Chamber?!”

Ivy instantly drew his wand.

Ebony wood with a dragon heartstring core—powerful and unwavering.

Crafted over a century ago by the old Garrick Ollivander himself.

Back then, Ollivander’s wandmaking methods were far less standardized than they would later become, and the ebony-and-dragon-heartstring combination had made the wand absurdly expensive.

Even a dark wizard of Ivy’s caliber had needed several days to save up for it.

“Your?

Map Chamber?” Dumbledore stepped forward, placing a hand atop the arm Severus Snape had slipped into his robes to retrieve his wand.

“I am the Headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry—Dumbledore.

You may lower your wand.

Let us speak calmly.”

“The Headmaster of Hogwarts?” Ivy asked knowingly.

The instant he saw the pair, he had already recognized them.

The greasy-haired man in black robes was Snape, and the tall wizard in gray robes was Dumbledore.

Anyone who had read the Harry Potter series could identify them immediately.

But in the next second, Ivy attacked without hesitation.

“Protego!

Depulso!”

He first cast a defensive charm over himself before slamming a short yet forceful Banishing Charm against the floor, hoping to use the recoil to create distance between himself and the two Hogwarts professors.

“Calm yourself, child!” Dumbledore held back Snape, who had instinctively tried to step forward, while retreating at the same time.

“You are a Hogwarts student, aren’t you?

Perhaps from Slytherin?

Then you can trust us completely!

I am the Headmaster, and Professor Snape here is the Head of Slytherin House!”

“Lies!”

Ivy remained utterly unmoved and immediately cast his third spell.

“Expelliarmus!”

Unlike the previous spell, this one directly targeted the wizard himself.

Dumbledore could no longer ignore it and casually deflected the red beam with a wave of his hand.

“There must be some misunderstanding here!” Dumbledore still refused to attack, continuing his attempts at persuasion.

“Powerful magic, is it?

Then let me show you the true might of Ancient Magic—Thunderstorm!”

Ivy was not only a fifth-year transfer student but also someone gifted with affinity for Ancient Magic.

Back in the game, the entire story had revolved around Ancient Magic and the goblin rebellion.

Thunderstorm was one of the few devastating non-dark spells in his arsenal.

A dazzling bolt of lightning erupted from the tip of his ebony wand, surging toward Dumbledore and Snape with unstoppable force.

“Incendio!”

The greatest wizard of the twentieth century finally spoke his first spell.

Blazing fire exploded from Dumbledore’s wand, colliding violently against Ivy’s lightning.

Flames and crackling electricity filled the vast Map Chamber, turning the grand hall into a breathtaking yet deadly battlefield.

The magical clash continued for quite some time—until Ivy’s ebony wand finally began to crack beneath the overwhelming surge of Ancient Magic.

Crack!

A tiny splinter snapped off the wand tip.

And instantly, the damage spread.

In the blink of an eye, the wand that had accompanied him through countless battles in the Forbidden Forest shattered into glowing particles.

Without his wand—and standing on the losing side of the magical tug-of-war—Ivy’s defeat became inevitable.

Though his defensive spells had yet to fail, who in their right mind would willingly compete against the legendary White Wizard in raw magical power unless absolutely necessary?

So Ivy resorted to the ultimate technique mastered by every action game protagonist—

The tactical combat roll.

By the time he sprang back to his feet, a second gleaming wand was already in his hand, aimed directly at Dumbledore’s pointed wizard hat.

“Expelliarmus!”

The previously idle Snape finally made his move—and ended the battle instantly.

The silver wand spun out of Ivy’s grasp through the air before landing neatly in Snape’s hand.

The moment Ivy saw that, he immediately threw both hands into the air in the most shameless surrender imaginable.

“I give up!”
