Ivy Doom asks Snape for Power Stones
…..
“What exactly are you doing, Mr.
Doom?”
When Severus Snape stepped into his dark underground Potions classroom, even he couldn’t help asking the question.
Standing before him, Ivy Doom was calmly flipping through the Book of Ruin.
Behind Ivy, countless potion ingredients floated through the air.
Dead rats and various rat organs drifted around the room like grotesque dancers.
Rats, clearly one of the most self-sacrificing creatures in potion-making, contributed nearly every part of their bodies to magical science.
Their tails could be used in Hair-Raising Potions, causing the drinker’s hair to stand straight upward.
Their spleens worked in Shrinking Solutions, essentially functioning as a long-duration shrinking spell.
Nearby, Flobberworms were being spun violently by invisible forces, spraying slime everywhere.
Flattened leeches slapped wetly against cutting boards.
And beyond the animal ingredients, there were plants:
Daisy roots being shredded into tiny pieces.
Ginger roots peeled with perfect precision.
Dried nettles chopped neatly into sections.
Alongside countless herbs that no longer resembled plants at all.
Snape’s voice wasn’t loud.
In fact, he was so stunned that he temporarily forgot to be angry.
Still, Ivy’s senses were sharp enough to notice him immediately.
Closing the spellbook, Ivy adopted the posture of a model student attentively awaiting instruction.
“I believe I made myself perfectly clear…” Snape hissed, emphasizing a single word heavily.
“Use your hands to prepare these ingredients.
Or are you hoping to extend your detention even further?”
“Oh!”
Ivy raised a finger.
“Technically speaking, these are my hands.”
He snapped his fingers.
Every floating ingredient froze instantly.
Then pale blue magical light began materializing throughout the room.
One by one, translucent spectral arms emerged from thin air.
It was those ghostly hands that had been handling the potion ingredients the entire time.
Yes.
The cantrip Mage Hand had proven extremely useful.
After successfully casting Mage Hand through the Book of Ruin, Ivy had unlocked the entirely new class:
Order of Scribes Wizard
Yet despite that achievement, the class still remained at Level 0.
So naturally, Ivy began searching for ways to gain experience.
Combat.
But the teachers and students of Hogwarts were his dear friends and treasured companions.
How could he casually attack them?
That evening after dinner, he had lingered in the Slytherin common room for quite some time, secretly hoping someone foolish enough would provoke him.
If that happened, he would finally have an excuse to repeat what occurred on the night of the opening feast—
Sending everyone standing inside the common room straight to the hospital wing.
Unfortunately, despite everyone nervously watching him from a distance, not a single student dared approach him.
Not one even had the courage to maintain eye contact.
For a moment, Ivy genuinely wondered if perhaps he had gone too far during his previous “friendly magical exchange.”
But after remembering he hadn’t even used Avada Kedavra, he quickly dismissed the thought.
Eventually, detention time arrived.
And so, filled with regret and extreme unwillingness, Ivy had no choice but to head toward Snape’s Potions classroom.
Yet while processing ingredients, he noticed something surprising.
His experience points were increasing.
Very slowly.
But definitely increasing.
Naturally, Ivy immediately sought ways to improve efficiency.
That was when Mage Hand entered the picture.
At first, using a single spectral hand barely improved productivity.
So Ivy turned toward his available feats for solutions.
And to his delight—
He found them.
The first feat:
Telekinetic
{Telekinetic} {Feat Enhancement for Mage Hand}
The feat increased his primary casting attribute, enhanced Mage Hand’s duration and carrying capacity, and even granted the spell invisibility.
Most importantly, it granted limited telekinetic movement abilities.
The second feat:
Metamagic Adept
{Metamagic Adept} {Twin Spell + Extended Spell}
This feat allowed spell modification through sorcery-point-like enhancements.
Among the available metamagic options, many either had harsh prerequisites or limited usefulness.
Metamagic Adept, however, required only spellcasting ability, making it extremely versatile.
The two metamagic options Ivy selected were:
Twinned SpellExtended Spell
Once enhanced through metamagic, Mage Hand became vastly more efficient.
It was practically equivalent to hiring an additional assistant.
But soon, Ivy became dissatisfied again.
Since he could already cast DND spells using the Book of Ruin, why not attempt to modify them into something more compatible with local wizarding magic?
Naturally— Read this novel at g.com for the best experience.
The brilliant Ivy Doom failed once again.
Without an arcane focus, DND spells simply could not function.
Not even Ancient Magic could bypass the difference between the two magical systems.
Still, the experiments weren’t entirely worthless.
At minimum, Ivy discovered a method to preserve Mage Hands indefinitely.
Ordinarily, only one Mage Hand could exist at a time.
But after applying metamagic enhancements, the spell could apparently be “taken over” by his native wizard magic.
So Ivy repeatedly cast Mage Hand…
Then transferred maintenance of each spectral hand to his own magical power…
Then repeated the process over and over again.
Which ultimately resulted in the chaotic scene Snape had just witnessed.
“Stop immediately!” Snape stormed toward him, robes billowing violently.
“And return everything to its original place!
If I discover even the slightest amount of waste—”
“That may be unavoidable,” Ivy interrupted quickly.
“For the advancement of magic, a tiny price must occasionally be paid.”
He gestured proudly behind himself.
“But efficiency has increased by over ten times!
So personally, I believe—”
“You believe a little waste should be forgiven?” Snape finished coldly, fury returning to his voice.
“Those are ingredients for tomorrow’s classes.
Do you expect me to award you points for processing them in advance?”
Ivy shrugged casually and glanced at the nearly completed mountain of ingredients behind him.
“If you don’t mind…”
“I merely helped prepare powdered nettles and snake fangs for the students.
A tiny contribution, really.”
“At least the slugs are still alive.”
For perhaps the first time in years, Snape was genuinely speechless.
He had never encountered someone this shameless before.
Not the slightest trace of regret appeared on Ivy’s face.
It was outright provocation.
“Excellent.
Truly excellent, Mr.
Doom.”
Suddenly, Snape’s tone returned to icy calm.
“Considering your enthusiastic willingness to assist your fellow students with tomorrow’s coursework…”
“Slytherin gains five points.”
“And as a reward—”
“Your detention time is doubled.”
