Because of the status screen revealed inside the Doom Spell Tome the previous night, Ivy Doom had experienced a dramatic emotional roller coaster.
First came excitement after discovering the attribute panel.
Then came despair after realizing he couldn’t actually take on a proper Dungeons & Dragons class yet.
After repeatedly swinging between joy and frustration for an entire evening, Ivy eventually decided there was only one reasonable solution:
Sleep.
End the miserable day as quickly as possible.
So early the next morning, still grumpy from last night’s revelations, Ivy set his sights upon an ice cream vendor in Diagon Alley.
Clearly, only an absurdly oversized ice cream cone could heal his wounded soul.
Unfortunately, once the giant dessert was actually in his hands, another problem immediately appeared.
His Constitution stat wasn’t exactly high.
Although his Constitution still remained at 10 even after suffering underage penalties—technically equal to an average healthy adult—no normal adult would eat an enormous ice cream first thing in the morning on an empty stomach.
Naturally, Ivy began worrying whether he was about to spend the day suffering stomach cramps and diarrhea.
After agonizing over the issue for quite some time, Ivy suddenly realized something extremely important.
He was a wizard.
At times like this, wasn’t magic supposed to solve everything?
Whether it was preventing the oversized hazelnut double-flavored ice cream from melting—or curing the stomachache that might follow afterward—surely there were spells capable of handling both situations.
In fact, he could already think of several.
The Freezing Charm could keep the ice cream cold, allowing him to extend the total eating time.
As long as he slowed down enough, his stomach would have time to adjust naturally, avoiding the consequences of suddenly consuming massive quantities of frozen sweets.
Then there was the Levitation Charm.
Wingardium Leviosa.
That spell could at least save his arms from exhaustion.
After all, Ivy’s Strength stat was only 6.
Calling him physically weak would honestly be generous.
Simply holding the gigantic ice cream cone already made his arms ache.
Thankfully, magic could solve all things.
But there was still one major issue.
He didn’t currently possess a wand.
Although Ivy could cast wandlessly, every wizard still needed a wand eventually.
Hogwarts’ supply list explicitly required one as well.
So there was no reason to hesitate any longer.
Destination:
Ollivanders.
As Ivy walked through Diagon Alley’s crowded streets, his oversized hazelnut ice cream floating beside him while radiating icy mist, he gradually noticed something.
People kept staring at him.
At both him and the floating ice cream.
Whenever Ivy caught someone giving him a strange or astonished look, he would deliberately take an exaggerated lick of the ice cream directly in front of them.
Even getting cream smeared across his nose failed to discourage him.
By the time he finally arrived inside Ollivanders, his face was practically covered in dessert.
Jingle jingle.
The bell above the door rang, announcing a customer’s arrival as the old wandmaker emerged seemingly from nowhere.
“Good afternoon,” said the elderly man with large pale eyes, his voice soft and oddly mesmerizing.
“An unfamiliar face…
and such splendid Slytherin robes as well.”
Ivy loved the glowing robes immensely.
Rather than taking them off like Snape suggested, he had merely used Reducio to resize them until they fit properly.
Honestly, part of the reason people kept staring at him was probably because of those robes.
Still, Ivy had never cared much about the opinions of strangers.
Especially when he personally considered the outfit incredibly stylish.
“Ivy Doom,” he introduced simply.
“Starting at Hogwarts this September.
Slytherin.”
“So confident.” The wandmaker’s tone remained gentle and mysterious.
“I believe Slytherin will appreciate a young wizard like yourself.”
Then his gaze shifted meaningfully.
“But at the moment, you still lack a wand, don’t you, Mister Doom?”
After Ivy nodded, Garrick Ollivander paused briefly to stare at the floating ice cream before wisely deciding not to comment.
Instead, he reached into his pocket and produced a silver measuring tape that immediately sprang to life, preparing to measure Ivy automatically.
“Scourgify.”
Ivy casually pointed toward his nose.
The cream smeared there instantly vanished.
“Wandless magic?!” Ollivander’s eyes widened dramatically.
“I have never witnessed such skill from a child who hasn’t even started school yet!”
“I’m special,” Ivy replied with an explanation that explained absolutely nothing.
“As for the wand…” He opened the Doom Spell Tome and rummaged around inside.
“Over a hundred years ago, another person named Ivy Doom placed an order here.
Silver lime wood with phoenix feather.
The wood was provided by Ollivanders, while the phoenix feather had already been delivered back then.”
He continued digging through the tome.
“I’m pretty sure there was also a receipt somewhere…”
“Ah.” Ollivander let out a quiet gasp.
Magnificent work.
Although nobody ever came to claim it over the last century, we preserved it carefully.”
His expression became almost nostalgic.
“I must admit—it inspired me greatly.”
The modern standardized wand cores—phoenix feather, dragon heartstring, and unicorn hair—had originally been formalized by Ollivander himself.
Over a century ago, however, Ollivander wands still experimented with materials like werewolf hair as cores.
As for the silver lime wood combined with phoenix feather—
That combination had been entirely Ivy’s own idea.
Even back then, silver lime wands were considered exceptionally fashionable and outrageously expensive.
Following the philosophy of “if it’s expensive, it must be good,” Ivy naturally chose it immediately.
The phoenix feather itself had come voluntarily from a phoenix Ivy once rescued.
Back during the era of the Ashwinders, magical creatures in the Forbidden Forest were constantly threatened by poachers and dark wizards.
And Ivy, naturally, had considered himself a noble protector of magical creatures.
Receiving a phoenix’s favor was therefore completely normal.
Obviously.
What truly worried him now was whether the magical creatures he once kept inside the Room of Requirement were still alive.
Once he returned to Hogwarts, he absolutely needed to investigate.
Finally locating the receipt inside the tome, Ivy handed it over to Ollivander and immediately received another round of amazed muttering.
“Incredible…
it still looks completely new.”
Holding the receipt carefully, Ollivander disappeared toward the back room.
“Please feel free to browse while I retrieve your wand, Mister Doom.”
“Alright.”
Ivy responded casually while continuing to work on his ice cream, which had already shrunk considerably.
At this rate, he would probably devour the cone itself within minutes.
Jingle jingle.
The shop bell rang once more.
Another customer had entered.
“Whoa—”
A voice filled with amazement sounded from behind him.
“Mom!
Look at his robes…
they’re incredible…”
Ivy turned around.
Standing at the doorway was a family of three whose arrival instantly made the already cramped wand shop feel even smaller.
