The Royal Academy

The World Law Host of Namidia

"Strength is earned through discipline. Wisdom is earned through understanding."— The Law of Order

Morning arrived with the sound of birds singing outside the Beta Estate.

Alen stretched as sunlight poured through his bedroom window.

His muscles still ached from yesterday's training.

"...I never knew swinging a wooden sword could hurt this much."

A knock came at his door.

"Breakfast is ready," Elara called.

"I'll be right there!"

The dining room smelled of fresh bread, cinnamon, and roasted potatoes.

Cedric sat at the head of the table reading several letters.

Kael was already halfway through his third plate.

"You eat like you've never seen food before," Alen joked.

Kael grinned.

"When you fight monsters for a living, you learn not to waste a good meal."

Cedric cleared his throat.

"Alen."

"I have something for you."

He slid an elegant envelope across the table.

Its seal was pressed in blue wax.

A silver sword crossed over an open book.

The same crest Alen had seen throughout the estate.

"What is it?"

Cedric smiled.

"Open it."

Alen carefully broke the seal.

Inside was a thick sheet of parchment.

The handwriting was flawless.

Alen looked up.

"So... this is a school?"

Kael nearly laughed.

"A school?"

"It's the greatest academy on the continent."

Cedric folded his hands.

"For nearly eight hundred years, the Royal Academy has trained knights, scholars, healers, magi, and rulers."

"It is where the strongest begin."

Alen frowned.

"I don't even know basic magic."

"Then you'll simply have to learn."

Later that afternoon...

Kael brought Alen to a large training field behind the estate.

"Today's lesson."

He tossed another wooden sword.

"You are not fighting me."

Alen caught it more cleanly this time.

"...Progress."

Kael nodded.

"You'll be fighting yourself."

"Huh?"

Kael pointed toward a polished steel mirror standing in the center of the field.

"Your greatest enemy is never another swordsman."

"It's the person you were yesterday."

The next several hours passed in relentless practice.

Footwork.

Balance.

Breathing.

Grip.

Posture.

Again.

Again.

Again.

Every mistake was corrected.

Every success was followed by another challenge.

By sunset...

Alen's swings were no longer wild.

They were still clumsy.

But now...

They had purpose.

Kael smiled.

"Good."

"You've stopped trying to hit the target."

Alen blinked.

"...Isn't that the point?"

"No."

"The point is understanding why your sword moves."

That sentence lingered in Alen's mind.

Understanding.

Not power.

Not victory.

Understanding.

Something deep within him stirred.

For only an instant...

The breeze stopped.

The grass became perfectly still.

Even the birds fell silent.

The System appeared.

[Passive Synchronization Detected.]

Understanding: Increased

Earth Law Resonance: 0.03%

The notification vanished.

"...There it is again."

Alen looked around.

"What are you trying to tell me?"

No answer came.

That evening...

Cedric stood beside the library window.

Watching his son practice alone beneath the stars.

Elara stepped beside him.

"He hasn't stopped."

Cedric smiled.

"No."

"He hasn't."

She looked worried.

"Do you think he'll be ready?"

Cedric's expression grew thoughtful.

"The Academy doesn't measure talent."

"It measures potential."

He watched Alen continue practicing despite exhaustion.

"...And I have never seen potential like his."

Far away...

Within the Royal Academy...

An elderly man with silver hair paused while reading an ancient book.

Without warning...

Every candle in his office flickered.

The room trembled.

A faint whisper echoed through the silence.

"Understanding..."

The old man slowly looked toward the horizon.

"...Interesting."

"It seems Namidia has begun moving once again."

He quietly closed the book.

"Prepare the entrance examinations."

"I believe this year's students will be... unforgettable."
