Chapter 12: Friend or Foe?

The World's Greatest Hero Is Actually a Villain?

’Isn’t that Arthur?’

Although he was nowhere near as strong as the final battle ten years from now.

But that golden armour? That signature smile? Imperion was a hundred percent sure that was him.

However, Lilith, not knowing this, continued to offer her praise about him.

"Apparently, his hero name is Justise, a new hero who was just registered by the association a few weeks ago."

"It seemed he encountered a level two monster, despite only being level 1, and refused to back out!"

"Even now, with his whole body covered in blood, he still looks to be smiling."

"According to him, his motto is!"

"A hero’s smile must never fade, as only with their smiles can others also smile in the face of danger?"

"If nothing else, his actions right now are resonating with the people."

"If he keeps this up, we might have a new member of Elisyum soon! Haha!"

Chuckling slightly, Lilith felt that the young man on her screen was much better than those old men and women in Elisyum who’d rather smoke than make a move.

Perhaps only one or two of their twelve could actually still be called heroes, while the remaining had long since lost their zeal ever since the war ended.

If more people like Arthur joined, and there were less power-hungry people, perhaps the world would have hope.

Thinking of this, she once again glanced at the figure of Arthur not retreating in the face of battle.

"Speaking of which, Ethan, don’t you think he reminds you of your younger self, after all, back then you would also never give up even when outmatched?"

"I remember every time you’d come back beaten and bruised, I’d use my blood manipulation to stop your bleeding."

"Back then, the current you was nowhere near as powerful," Lilith laughed as she thought of the past.

"Also, should we go and save him? He’s doing well by holding up on his own, but it would be a waste if someone with such potential died like this, what do you think?"

Hearing this, Ethan, who was currently focused on Arthur on the screen, laughed.

"Haha, save him? Don’t worry, in fact helping him here might do him more harm than good."

"In fact, since he’s here I’m more assured in leaving and going to attend the meeting!"

"Just remember to put some tabs on him and let me know how he grows up in the future!"

Listening to Lilith’s words, he almost rolled his eyes.

Save him? What a joke.

According to the setting of the original protagonist in the novel, Arthur was the kind of person who always turned every crisis into a blessing.

If nothing else, he wouldn’t be shocked if he used the pressure from the battle to advance his abilities and break into level two.

For such a person, Ethan said he couldn’t even be bothered to be worried.

’As for taking advantage of the fact he’s currently weak and eliminate him?’

’Why would I do that?’

’Now that I had a glimpse of what’s to come in the future from that diary, I’d rather subdue the second strongest hero than eliminate him.’

Thinking to himself, Ethan remembered that Arthur was the main reason he didn’t succeed in taking over the world in the original story.

And sure, he could easily kill him now and have no issues at the end.

But then if he did? What next?

Remembering those wormholes, and powerful beings he saw descend from the sky.

Even now, he couldn’t fathom just how strong those beings were.

If he could have one more person by his side when he faced them, then he would be more than willing.

’However Arthur, if you still decide to stand against me in this life, then don’t blame me for being ruthless.’

Muttering under his breath, Ethan put one arm on Lilith’s waist.

"Alright Lilith, we’re already late so no time to go back to the car!"

"Hold on tight, the ride might be a bit bumpy!"

Boom!

Not giving her a chance to reply, Ethan, with one arm on her waist and the other pointed to the sky, flew up and headed toward the headquarters of Elisyum.

And Lilith, feeling his warm hands on her waist, silently blushed as a smile appeared on her face.

’Stupid Ethan, at least give me some heads up next time.’

...

[Elysium headquarters]

Located near the edge of New Geneva, it stands as a colossal glass building, shaped in the letter E.

Surrounding it, all kinds of security personnel, each superhero of various levels, with a lot of them being A-class and up to level 3.

Consisting of over 50 floors, each floor consists of recreation, events, gyms, arenas, and so much more.

With special levels reserved, the last 13 levels being specially reserved.

Twelve for each of the current twelve heroes, and the last floor at the top of the tower being the meeting room.

And right now, in the meeting room, eleven figures currently sat, some in person, some as holograms.

But eleven people currently sat there looking at the holographic world map in front of them.

"Where the fuck is that kid Imperion! Does he think because he’s the so-called strongest in the world he can keep me waiting?"

"Or does he want to fight? If this shitty meeting wasn’t important I won’t even be here today!"

"Ugh..."

Smoking a cigarette and wearing an old war outfit, with messy brown hair and a short beard, a hero with his legs crossed up on the table roared as he took another puff.

"Relax, Sentinel, we can all see what’s happening in New Geneva right now, the monster attacks?"

"It’s part of why we’re holding this meeting to discuss what’s going on."

"If you’re that angry, then leave, or do you want me to escort you out?"

Replying to Sentinel, another hero who wore a bright suit with a golden sun symbol in its middle answered back calmly.

His hair and eyebrows seemed to be made of flames as the surrounding air seemed to waver under the sheer heat he emitted.

This was the current number two hero, the Sun! Solaris!

And Sentinel, hearing Solaris speak, could only keep silent as they waited for Imperion and Lilith.

However, everyone could feel that the tensions in the room were slowly rising.
