Feng Xianyue sat on the rooftop of their house, staring at the sky in a daze.
Xianyue was not her real name, but the name of the body she had occupied for ten years.
In the past when she was still alive, in the real world, she had been an orphan called Bai yue.
She had never had any family, and had struggled with poverty and loneliness right from childhood.
After slaving for years with school and different part-time jobs Bai yue had luckily found a job.
She spent three years working towards a promotion, and when it was finally within reach Bai Yue got hit by a truck at night.
She woke up in the body of Five year old Feng Xianyue…..small, weak, and gasping for breath.
The first thing she felt was panic.
The second was grief.
She had died, and now she was living someone else’s life.
The life of a book character, who was a sickly connon fodder character…someone destined to die.
At first she thought she could salvage the body, because according to the book, the original owner actually had a wood spirit physique.
The physique was a special body that had good affinity for alchemy, but alas Feng Xianyue had no resources or the basis to take advantage of this body.
It didn’t take long for her to realise that there was nothing special about the original owner.
In most transmigration novels, all those reborn characters always get a lucky finger enabling them to change their fate and become strong survivors.
However in Feng xianyue’s case, her unlucky streak seemed to have followed her right from her previous world to this new one.
Feng Xianyue remained sickly even after taking this body, and she remained stuck in a dead beat village.
It was called black crow village, located near the frontier of Celestial Han Empire.
Black crow village, as the name implies, was always filled with crows.
As it was near the frontier were death was frequent.
Feng Xianyue was banished to this village right after birth, when a wandering taoist monk read her palm, and claimed she was going to bring misfortune to the Feng clan.
“Xian’er, come down the food is ready”
Hearing her grandmother’s call Feng Xianyue smiled softly standing.
After coming down from the roof using the ladder, she started coughing loudly into her arm, rubbing her chest softly.
Old Madam Feng saw this and her eyes filled with tears.
Walking up to Feng Xianyue, old Madam Feng gently rubbed her granddaughter’s back wiping a trail of tears with her other hand and said, “My poor child, look at you, your coughing fit is becoming frequent, and you still have the energy to climb up the roof.”
“Grandmother.” Feng Xianyue called patting her hand gently, ” Don’t worry about me, this is nothing let’s go and eat”
Old Madam Feng nodded sadly not wanting to talk about it and make Xianyue sad.
A week ago she had called in the village doctor to examine her granddaughter and was given a devastating news.
According to the doctor Feng Xianyue only had a few more months to live, her internal organs had began to fail, and her body was becoming colder day by day.
It was a puzzling condition and the doctor couldn’t say more about it.
As they got seated in the courtyard old Madam Feng smiled watching how Xianyue was eating enthusiastically and said, “Xian’er eat slowly, don’t rush”
“Ok grandmother, I will listen to you.” Feng Xianyue said looking up.
Smiling softly she continued eating and they both fell into a comfortable silence with only the sounds of spoons scraping plates and a warm breeze.
After Feng Xianyue was banished, old Madam Feng volunteered to stay with the little Feng Xianyue, in order to raise her.
Ever since she had also been cut off from the main family with little or no capital to raise the little child.
Fang Xianyue had never had a family, and was used to loneliness, so she wasn’t affected.
But after ten years with old Madam Feng she had come to love and accept her as her only family.
If she succumbed to her illness and die one of these days, old Madam Feng would be very heartbroken and be left with no one.
From what Feng Xianyue gathered all these years, old Madam Feng was a concubine to the old master of the Feng family, she had no children so no one really cared for her.
If Feng Xianyue died, no one would take care of her.
Because of this she decided not accept her fate, she couldn’t just wait for death to come and claim her.
The next day at dawn, Feng Xianyue left home deciding to venture outside.
Maybe she would be lucky to find her golden finger, there was still hope.
In every transmigration story she had read, the protagonist always found something….a hidden treasure, a mysterious teacher, a system.
She had nothing.
But that didn’t mean she would find nothing.
Afterall, how could she hope to uncover any opportunities, while remaining in a mere backwater village all this years.
She could even join the cultivation academy in the nearby town.
Before she left she had only written a letter for old Madam Feng.
She urged her not to worry, and that she would be back.
After travelling for half a day Feng Xianyue encountered three students from a cultivation academy in the nearby town.
They decided to travel together.
Though Feng Xianyue was wary of traveling with three men alone, she took the risk but remained cautious.
When she was on her own, she often got lost leading to half a day’s walk taking a toll on her weak body.
It was because of this she decided to travel with them.
One of the students moved closer walking beside Feng Xianyue and asked, “Little sister, What’s your name?”
“Feng Xianyue”
Nodding the student continuously asked, “Good name, why are you travelling alone?
Do you have relatives in our town?”
Wary Feng Xianyue gave him a side glance and told him she was visiting a relative in the cultivation academy and said no more.
That night while they were resting in a clearing Feng Xianyue felt a prickly feeling all over her body, it was as though a pair of hot eyes was watching her intently.
Feng Xianyue had been wary of them from the start.
She had seen the way their eyes lingered on her, the way they whispered to each other when they thought she couldn’t hear.
But she had ignored her instincts.
She had been desperate.
It was at that moment, when the forest was still, a figure stood in front of her looming over her body and said, “Little sister don’t blame us, but you have to serve this big brother to pay for leading the way.”
Stunned, blood drained from her face realising their intentions.
“W…
what leave me alone” Feng Xianyue shouted struggling as the men pinned her to the ground, tearing up her layered robes.
“N…no please don’t do this” Feng Xianyue shakey voice said still struggling, but because of her weak body she couldn’t do much.
She had to watch with terrified eyes as one of the men began taking off her inner garment, squeezing her breasts roughly saying, “Just wait this big brother will make you feel good soon.”
Eyes filled with terror, Feng Xianyue let out a piercing scream that rattled the quiet forest.
Something inside her snapped.
A dam broke, icy, ancient yin qi flooded her veins, so cold that it burned.
Her skin turned to frost, the man pinning Feng Xianyue screamed, watching as the terrifying ice swallow his hands continuosly, while the other two stared with terrified gazes.
Feng Xianyue didn’t wait for them to come back to their senses and ran with all the strength she could muster.
