Ten days passed in the blink of an eye, but in the space, a hundred days passed—and it was already the day the little dragon would hatch.

During these hundred days, Feng Xianyue had been diligently feeding the egg with her blood and spiritual water, and it seemed like it worked.

Taking the dragon egg back to her room in the hut, she sat cross-legged to cultivate until it was time for the cub to hatch.Full novel: The Young Miss Who Refused To Die — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

In the last hundred days, cultivation had been somewhat hard for Feng Xianyue.

Whenever she was about to advance to another layer, something interfered, making it almost impossible to progress.

At this point, being smart, Feng Xianyue had discovered something strange about her body.

Though she didn’t know what it was, she knew it was important and most likely related to the original owner’s deteriorating health.

It felt like it was a distinct part of her, yet another entity trying to consume her.

Because of this setback, Feng Xianyue had practically become a hermit, spending every waking moment in the library, her fingers stained with ink as she poured over ancient texts, trying to narrow down the issue with her body.

Just then, she heard a sound, and her eyes immediately fell on the dragon egg.

Is it finally time?

Feng Xianyue thought.

The dragon egg began to crack.

Slowly, the upper shell fell off, and soon the newly hatched ice dragon lay curled within the shattered egg shell.

Its body was the size of a cat, with an oversized head and large round eyes.

It had small protrusions on top of its head, looking more like tiny horns.

The scales of the little dragon were translucent, crystal blue with frosted edges.

Each time it moved, the ground below cracked with a thin sheet of ice.

By now, Feng Xianyue’s eyes were shining with amazement at how cute it was.

“Such a cute dumpling,” she muttered, reaching out her hand to rub the little dragon’s head.

She wanted to call the cub something cute, but Feng Xianyue knew that in this new world, names are somewhat spiritual and needed to be chosen carefully—more especially for a dragon, who are the strongest spiritual beings.

Their names have to reflect strength and power.

This happened to be a dilemma for Feng Xianyue, who had a bad naming sense.

She was already calling him “dumpling,” fondling the numerous little protrusions on the little dragon’s head.

The little dragon’s round blue eyes watched Feng Xianyue’s as her face morphed into different expressions and found it ridiculous.

Immediately after it hatched, he inherited all his mother’s memories along with memories passed down to dragons right from the beginning of time.

Though he had no access to most of the memories as he was weak and still a newborn, what he was sure of was that the companion his mother attached him to was very weak.

How could this weak, fragile human be worthy of him?

He was a dragon—a descendant of ancient ice dragons!

And she could barely cultivate.

The indignity. Get faster updates on novelping.com.

Humming quietly, Feng Xianyue looked at the little dumpling as if finally deciding something and said, “I will call you Yueling, meaning ‘moon spirit’…

Feng Yueling.

And your nickname will be Dumpling.

Isn’t that great?”

The little dragon instead looked away, snorting quietly.

Feng Xianyue was aghast, seeing the distaste in the little dragon’s large blue eyes.

“Y…

you don’t like it?” Feng Xianyue asked, but little Yueling suddenly sniffed the air and immediately ran out of the room.

“Hey…

hey, little dumpling!” Feng Xianyue called, running after him.

When she finally caught up to him, she was in disbelief at what she saw.

Little Feng Yueling was now in the spirit stone room—eating!

Yes, he was really eating the stones.

That was the sight Feng Xianyue was met with: the little dumpling in the middle of the pile of colorful stones, stretching out his grubby paws—which were only half the size of the stones—to munch on them like candies.

What sort of teeth does this baby have!

Glaring at Yueling in frustration, Feng Xianyue stormed towards him, saying, “You little brat!

This is our family’s property.

How can you waste it?” She then reached out to snatch the stone, but Yueling pulled it towards his chest, looking at her with indignation in his eyes.

Feng Yueling really felt wronged.

These spirit stones were his mother’s gift to him.

How could he not be allowed to enjoy them?

Before Feng Xianyue could do anything, the little dumpling ran away.

Seeing this, she chased after him, and soon a game of cat and mouse began—with the little dumpling running around the room while munching on his spirit stones and Feng Xianyue chasing after him with outstretched hands like her life depended on it.

The little dragon darted between her legs, squeaking with what sounded suspiciously like laughter.

Feng Xianyue lunged.

He dodged.

She tripped over her own robes.

He paused, looked back, and stuck out his tongue.

This further angered Feng Xianyue, who realised the brat was having fun and laughing at her.

The little dragon’s actions were so cute and childish in contrast to his overly intelligent demeanor earlier. Visit g.com for the full chapter.

He was still a child after all.

They soon became tired and lay on the ground, breathing heavily.

Holding the little dumpling, Feng Xianyue kept him on her lap and said, “I know you don’t like me, but you are stuck with me.

Your mother made sure of that, so you better listen to me.”

Feng Yueling, instead of nodding, looked away, raising his small chin high.

This made him look cute, and Feng Xianyue couldn’t hold it in and let out a laugh of amusement.

“You are still a child yet acting so high and mighty,” she said, poking his head.

“Since you like them so much, you can only take five daily.”

Five was generous.

She had calculated it carefully—enough to keep him happy, not enough to bankrupt her before they even reached the capital.

The little dumpling’s eyes became watery, looking at Feng Xianyue as if he was being bullied.

This in turn made her confused—wasn’t she being generous?

However, Feng Yueling’s teary eyes made her heart soften, so pinching his cheeks, she gently said, “Don’t worry, it wouldn’t be for long.

Once I join a sect, we will get opportunities to find more.” By then, I can let you be as wasteful as you like, Feng Xianyue thought, smiling to herself.

Noticing the little dumpling was feeling better, Feng Xianyue said, “For now, let’s complete the bond between us.” Seeing him turn his head away, she continued, “We are going to the capital.

I don’t know what awaits us there.

What if we get separated, hmm?”

Naturally, Yueling knew how greedy humans were from his inherited memories.

Only a few humans did not try to enslave weak or newly born dragons.

He didn’t want to be a victim, so he agreed with Xianyue, who soon made the spell and cut her palm.

Feng Yueling shed a scale, and soon a frost shard merged with the blood floating above the spell.

Then a silver formation unfurled beneath their feet, ancient runes spiraling outward like blooming frost.

The combined blood and scale fell into the formation and formed a spirit seed, which split into two—half entering the dragon’s core and the other half entering Feng Xianyue’s dantian.

Soon threads of golden light emerged, weaving into a delicate chain between their hearts and spiritual sea, binding and forming the companion contract seal.

Feng Xianyue felt something shift—a warmth spreading through her chest, a presence settling into her soul.

For the first time in years, she was not alone.

The companion contract seal was a tier-2 spiritual contract formation, the second most powerful between a beast and human.

It does not alter or merge fate and karma but enables the flow of senses and energy.

It can be mutually dissolved at any time, but with the connection, one will not be alone and will have a companion with whom to cultivate for centuries.
