“This is quite strange.

Neither the system or that spirit came to stop me this time.

Perhaps it learned its lesson once and for all.”Full novel: Third Rate Villain: Stealing Heroines and Opportunities — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Shen hao muttered in disbelief while lazily lying on the bed.

Yui ling slept peacefully beneath the blankets.

Shen hao sighed. He simply couldn’t shake off the pain he had felt last night from his mind.

Even though his body felt remarkably refreshed now—albeit slightly less energetic than before—he got out of bed.

Gazing at ling yui’s peaceful, innocent face and that simple, gentle smile, he tucked the blanket over her again before heading into the bathroom to freshen up and take a shower.

After a long, hot shower that washed away the last traces of lingering fatigue, he stepped out of the bathroom with a fresh mind.

Standing before his walk-in closet, he bypassed the overly formal suits and luxurious attire.

Despite his wealth, he preferred comfort today—opting for a simple, high-quality black tailored T-shirt paired with dark fitted trousers.

It was minimal, refined, and effortlessly stylish.

Towel-drying his damp hair, he glanced toward the bed.

Yui ling was still sound asleep, breathing softly, entirely undisturbed.

he quietly grabbed his phone and watch from the nightstand.

He moved to the door, turned the handle with absolute care so it wouldn’t make a sound, and slipped out into the hallway, leaving her to rest in peace.

Usually, he was disciplined enough to start his mornings with a long jog in the nearby park, but today, he just didn’t feel like it.

The lingering weariness in his mind was enough to break his usual routine.

Stepping out into the hallway, the sheer scale of the Shen Estate never failed to remind anyone of the family’s immense wealth.

It wasn’t just a house; it was a modern, sprawling mansion built with classic Chinese aesthetic elements—grand marble corridors, floor-to-ceiling glass paneling overlooking traditional inner courtyards, and subtle wooden carvings that whispered understated luxury.

Because the estate was so massive, the spatial dynamics were distinct.

His parents occupied the quiet, serene quarters on the top floor, far removed from the daily hustle.

Shen Hao, on the other hand, stayed on the ground floor—his personal sanctuary with direct access to the private gardens, completely separated from the rest of the mansion to give him total privacy and independence.

He made his way down the quiet corridor toward the kitchen to prep a light breakfast—just some simple buttered toast and freshly brewed coffee.

As he waited for the bread to toast, his thoughts drifted back to the bizarre events.

“Should I tell my parents?” he mused silently.

He instantly shook his head at the thought.

No, it would only cause them unnecessary panic.

Besides, how could they possibly protect him from supernatural entities they couldn’t even see or comprehend?

Suddenly, the stillness was broken by a rapid, heavy cadence of footsteps approaching.

A young man, burst into the room from the garden entrance, still breathing hard.

He was clad in athletic jogging gear, clearly returning from a high-intensity run.

His entire body was sleek with sweat, making his dark skin glisten under the dim morning lights.

His features were strikingly handsome, defined by short, tousled black hair that was damp against his forehead, and intense, brown eyes.

Flashing a warm smile at Shen Hao, he asked, “Brother Shen, how are you doing?

Weren’t you coming for a jog this morning?

I waited for you at the park for a quite a while.

Eventually, I just came back to the kitchen to fix myself a protein shake.”

“I really thought I’d run into you there—you never miss your morning run.

Did something happen last night?”

Shen Hao didn’t answer right away.

He simply maintained a faint smile, gazing at him for a long, quiet moment.

Beneath that calm composure, however, his mind was in total turmoil.

‘My cousin, Shen Tian…

How could I have completely forgotten about him?’

Before last night’s horrifying ordeal, he had never found anything particularly off about Shen Tian.

But looking at him now—with fresh perspective and a newfound sense of dread—everything about his cousin suddenly seemed suspect.

‘First of all, just a month ago, this guy was severely overweight—easily tipping the scales at over 120 kilograms.

Yet, in the span of merely thirty days, he has transformed into this tall, lean, and intensely muscular athletic powerhouse.’

‘Something like this is utterly impossible through normal means.

How on earth did I fail to notice this earlier?’

‘Even if someone worked out with absolute, ruthless determination, they might lose a bit of fat in a month at best.

But building a sculpted, bodybuilder physique like this in just thirty days?

That isn’t just unusual—it’s downright unnatural.’

“On top of that, he’s explicitly asking me about last night…

as if he knows for a fact that something was bound to happen.”

Plastering a completely fake smile onto his face, Shen Hao looked straight at Shen Tian and said, “No, not at all.

In fact, last night was amazingly fun.

You wouldn’t even believe how incredible it was!

I had so much fun that I completely forgot I even had to go for a jog today.”

The moment those words left Shen Hao’s lips, he visibly caught the split-second twitch on Shen Tian’s face.

Shen Tian’s dark, handsome features instantly twisted into something ugly—a subtle mix of dark disbelief, cold resentment, and sheer irritation.

It was as if his calculated prediction had just blown up in his face.

However, Shen Tian quickly reined in his composure, burying the grimace beneath a mask of forced calm.

Mixing his protein shake, he asked in a casual tone, “Oh?

Is that so?

What could have possibly been that great?”

Shen Hao offered him a playful, teasing smile and replied, “Oh, nothing much.

It’s just that…

you’re about to meet your new sister-in-law very soon.”

The instant Shen Hao uttered those words, Shen Tian choked on his drink and sprayed the protein shake right out of his mouth.

Coughing and wiping his chin in utter fluster, Shen Tian looked at Shen Hao with wide, panicked eyes.

“B-Brother…

I just remembered something urgent I have to take care of right away!”

he sputtered hastily.

“You can introduce me to Sister-in-law later.

I—I need to go check on that matter first!”

Without waiting for a response, he turned on his heel and practically fled the kitchen, his hurried footsteps echoing down the grand hallway.

Shen Hao stood alone in the sleek kitchen, watching his cousin’s retreating back.

As soon as Shen Tian was out of sight, the playful warmth completely vanished from Shen Hao’s face, replaced by a gaze as cold as ice.

“My dear cousin brother…” Shan Hao thought, his eyes narrowing into sharp slits.

“Some wise man once said: If there is one unnatural thing in your home, ignore it peacefully.

But if there are two unnatural things in your home…

never, ever ignore them.”
