An introduction to the Omegaverse, as it pertains to this story:
There are two genders, men and women, with both having three possible sub-genders, being betas, alphas, and omegas.
-Betas are the most common gender, considered to be the average human, with nothing remarkable about them. They make up at least 70% of the population. They’re unable to smell an omega’s pheromones.
-Alphas are a rare subgender. It is believed that all alphas are stronger, smarter, and generally more capable than most other humans. They’re often the first pick for leadership and good job positions. They tend to be more rude and domineering, typically with much less regard for others, but can be quite possessive or territorial for what they consider to be theirs. They can impregnate someone regardless of whether they’re a man or woman, with the woman’s clitoris expanding into a functional penis should they get too aroused. When smelling an omega in heat, they become overwhelmed by the omegas pheromones and enter into a ‘rut’, steadily losing control over their actions and desperately seeking to breed with and mark* the omega they’re smelling. They emit their own pheromones during this state in an attempt to both further attract whatever omega they’re smelling, and also warn other alphas away.
-Omegas are the rarest subgender, slightly rarer than alphas. It is believed that all omegas are outstandingly beautiful regardless of gender. They’re especially considered as perfect breeding partners by alphas, with a pairing of the two having the highest breeding compatibility, and are often sought out by them. Both male and female omegas are able to get pregnant, with male omegas having a womb connected through the anus. Every so often, depending on an omega’s cycle, they go into ‘heat’, becoming weak and inundated with arousal, as if they have a heavy fever. Their body begins to emit pheromones, attempting to attract an alpha mate. An omega is most likely to become impregnated during this time. Omegas are able to smell another omega’s pheromones, but are only lightly affected by it.
*Marking is only possible between an alpha and an omega. The alpha will bite the back of the omega’s neck while they mate, causing a deep scarring to stay in the spot, and linking the two together. After the mark is placed, the two become a ‘mated pair’, and neither side will react to outside pheromones any longer. It’s a deep link, nearly unremovable. It’s considered a great disaster should an accidental marking occur while a pair is inhibited by an omega’s heat.
