Leaving Kureo Mado’s house, Kenji casually hailed a taxi.
”Take me to the largest bar in the 10th Ward.”
About ten minutes later, the vehicle stopped in front of a bar named “The Violet.”
”Sir, thank you for your business.
That will be 1,140 yen in total.”
”Card.”
The driver was clearly taken aback, but when he saw the black, gold-bordered card printed with the CCG logo that Kenji handed over, he smartly kept his mouth shut.
Getting out of the car, Kenji carried his backpack and walked straight toward The Violet.
Looking at the time, it was two in the morning, but the place was packed.
It wasn’t like the other wards where the streets became completely deserted as soon as night fell.
”It looks like the security in the 10th Ward is pretty good.
With Kureo Mado living here, he must have cleared out quite a few Ghouls.” Thinking about Mado’s personality and the fact that he lived in this ward, Kenji wasn’t surprised.
Pushing open the heavy doors of the bar, four large men at the entrance glanced at Kenji.
Then, using somewhat awkward Japanese, they spoke up.
”Hello, sir.
Entering here requires a body search.
Please cooperate.”
After finishing the search, the four large men didn’t give Kenji a hard time.
Instead, they bowed respectfully and invited him inside.
”Thank you for your cooperation, sir.”
Stepping into the bar, Kenji immediately heard soothing music playing in his ears.
As he walked deeper, a massive lounge area came into view.
Dark purple ambient lights flickered continuously across the ceiling, and a faint scent of incense drifted through the air, mixed with the heavy energy of the crowd.
In the very center of the dance floor, one DJ track played after another.
Most of the strobe lights gathered here, while the areas further away were incredibly dark, making it impossible to see clearly.
Office workers, students in uniforms, businessmen with thick gold chains, and even tattooed gangsters all seemed to fill this space.
Kenji’s expression remained indifferent.
He had executed plenty of missions around bars, so he understood these places well.
Unlike quieter areas, bars like this were packed with people dealing in gray-market businesses.
Everything from information trade to illicit sales, and even assassination contracts, could be tracked down here.
Given the unique nature of this world, Ghoul monsters were scattered throughout Tokyo society.
Even ordinary families secretly kept firearms and ammunition at home, and the authorities simply turned a blind eye to it.
Kenji scanned the room, his gaze locking onto a specific corner.
There, three men in black suits, chewing on cigars, were sitting on a couch, seemingly laughing out loud.
Around them, a dozen lower-level thugs in black clothes formed a tight wall, preventing outsiders from seeing what was happening inside.
Kenji picked his target and walked straight over.
As he drew closer, he finally saw why a crowd was gathered here.
On the couch inside, besides the three suited men, there were actually three schoolgirls in uniform.
However, these three girls had clearly not come here willingly; their faces looked swollen and completely red.
Kenji had no interest in getting involved in whatever was happening.
The entire bar only had this one spot that looked like a gangster gathering, and if he wanted to buy weapons and ammunition, finding them was undoubtedly the fastest way.
He had simply happened to run into an unpleasant scene.
”Hey!
No entry here, clear out!”
As soon as he approached, a leading thug noticed Kenji and immediately barked at him.
Kenji cast a cold glance at the man.
With just a single look, the thug felt as though his throat had been grabbed, making him completely unable to speak.
He was very familiar with this kind of look, having seen it once before.
That time, he had been targeted by a Ghoul, and the monster’s eyes were exactly like this man’s—as if looking at a corpse.
”Could he be…
a Ghoul?!”
In an instant, this thought exploded in the thug’s mind, and his speech became stuttered and shaky.
”Th-this is the territory of the Yamaguchi-gumi…”
But before he could finish his sentence, he realized Kenji was already sitting on the couch inside.
Yet, the area had clearly been blocked off by him and the other thugs; he couldn’t even understand how Kenji had gotten in.
Meanwhile, the three gangsters who had been bullying the schoolgirls inside finally noticed something was wrong.
When on earth had a man sat down on their couch?
Yamamoto, Matsushita, and Inabe exchanged a look and immediately stopped what they were doing.
As mid-level members of the Yamaguchi-gumi, the three were no fools and naturally realized Kenji was no ordinary person.
”Sir, may we ask what business brings you to us?
As long as it’s something we can help with, we will certainly do so.
While we aren’t considered high-level management within the Yamaguchi-gumi, we still hold a decent amount of power.
Whether it’s money or women, whatever you want, you can have.”
The three looked at each other, and Yamamoto stepped forward to pull open the zipper.
A backpack stuffed entirely with cash appeared right in front of them, leaving them completely dazed.
Even the three schoolgirls on the side were drawn to the sight.
”This is one hundred million yen.
Get me a large amount of weapons.
I also need RPGs, large-caliber heavy sniper rifles, a quantity of explosives, several tactical suits, and alloy daggers that can be easily hidden inside the suits.
Throw in some sturdy tactical boots as well.”
”In addition to all that, prepare a durable pickup truck for me.
I also want intelligence regarding S-rate or higher Ghouls and the CCG.
I believe your organization holds plenty of these things internally.”
Hearing Kenji’s words, the three men were clearly stunned, and they began to re-evaluate the man in front of them.
The moment the names “S-rate Ghoul” and “CCG” came out, Yamamoto and the others knew this matter had gone way beyond their line of work.
Furthermore, even if they could actually pull it off, one hundred million yen was obviously not enough.
However, the aura and posture Kenji displayed forced them to take him very seriously.
”Sir, please allow us to notify our higher-ups.
Please wait a few minutes!”
Kenji closed his eyes and began to rest his mind, while pondering his next move.
His purpose in looking for the syndicate was very clear.
He stood on the opposite side of the Ghouls, yet he couldn’t get too deeply involved with the CCG, because backing the CCG was the largest Ghoul family, the Washuu clan.
Therefore, he turned his sights toward a local human force: the Yamaguchi-gumi.
The struggle between the Ghouls and the CCG was essentially a fight between various Ghoul factions and the Washuu clan.
The CCG, used as a tool by the Washuu clan to eliminate other Ghoul factions, fundamentally served the interests of Ghouls.
From this, it was clear that the actual human forces in this world were in a very weak position, and his appearance could undoubtedly give these human forces a glimmer of hope.
If human factions truly unleashed heavy firepower against the Ghouls, they could easily crush them.
However, monsters like Ghouls wouldn’t just stand there waiting to be blown apart.
The fact that the CCG was established by a Ghoul family showed that these monsters had already woven themselves deeply into human society without anyone noticing.
Expecting the CCG to eliminate all Ghouls was nothing short of a pipedream.
Humans were already at an absolute disadvantage.
But Kenji’s goal in this world was to wipe out every single Ghoul, so he had to use other methods to make it happen.
Contacting the Yamaguchi-gumi was merely the first step.
More importantly, he needed to get in touch with the actual human leadership, rather than the Ghouls disguised as human officials.
That was his true objective.
