Screech-
The pickup truck speeding along suddenly let out a sharp, ear-piercing sound of braking, leaving two long, black rubber marks on the asphalt road.
Click—Bang!
Kenji got out of the truck and shut the door, looking around at his surroundings.
Even though it was broad daylight, there wasn’t a single human in sight.
The area was filled with tall, abandoned buildings, and at some unknown point, figures wearing red cloaks had packed the rooftops.
”Oh my, what do we have here?
Which little cutie went and got themselves lost?”
Far off on a high building, a man wearing a white suit, a dark red shirt, and short yellow hair with a wide nose bridge was staring down at Kenji.
It was Oomori Yakumo, also known as Yamori.
Beside him stood many other Ghouls belonging to the Aogiri Tree, along with the organization’s executives.
”Oh?
Someone broke in?”
A clear, airy voice drifted down.
A small figure wrapped entirely in bandages and wearing a loose red cloak was sitting on the roof of an abandoned building dozens of meters high, swinging her legs back and forth.
”Tatara, what do you think he’s here for?”
On the other side, a white-haired man wearing a red half-face mask shook his head slightly.
”I don’t know.
But the CCG in the 11th Ward already put out an emergency notice, so no humans from this district should be coming here.
Therefore, anyone who shows up is either an idiot or coming straight for us.”
”Is that so?
Then go ahead and play with him first~”
Eto’s airy voice faded as her figure vanished from the spot.
Kenji pulled back the canvas sheet in his truck.
Right now, his blade Play Cloud was still with Kureo Mado for repairs, so he could only use these few alloy daggers.
However, he figured he should deliver a little greeting gift first.
While the high-level executives of the Aogiri Tree were watching him, he had already noticed this group of powerful Ghouls.
The figures on the high building didn’t move; they just looked at Kenji’s actions with curiosity, wanting to see what this human was planning to do.
Although the outside world didn’t know it, they were well aware that the 11th Ward was the base of the Aogiri Tree, and there were three executives right here.
With one S-rate Ghoul and two SS-rate Ghouls present, who could possibly threaten them?
Kenji didn’t care about their thoughts; he just kept moving smoothly.
He pulled open the canvas, took out an RPG, loaded a rocket, hoisted it onto his shoulder, and aimed right at the tall building.
In his past life, he had plenty of experience with firearms, so he was incredibly familiar with a standard RPG like this.
He flipped off the safety, lined up the sights, and locked onto the target.
Whoosh!
The rocket shot out, leaving a long white trail of smoke behind it as it flew straight toward Yamori and the other two.
”What?
Is this guy from the military?” Seeing Kenji fire an RPG without saying a single word, the group instantly froze.
Boom!
The rocket hit with perfect accuracy, crashing right into the tall building with a massive explosion.
Thick smoke rolled out.
However, this single rocket clearly didn’t cause any real damage to Yamori and the executives.
But Kenji had already loaded a second round.
Whoosh!
Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!
Rockets flew over one after another.
Heavy explosions boomed repeatedly across the tall building.
Along with the thick smoke rising into the air, a furious roar echoed from inside.
”You bastard!
I’m going to lock you up and torture you ten thousand times!”
But the only answer he got was another rocket.
It wasn’t until he emptied his entire stock of ammunition that Kenji finally stopped.
Looking around, many low-level Aogiri Tree Ghouls had been blasted down from the buildings, leaving the ground scattered with corpses.
However, a few Ghouls with a bit more strength had managed to dodge far away and were not caught in the blasts.
Flash!
Out of the thick smoke, a figure rushed toward Kenji at high speed.
At the same time, a reddish-purple Rinkaku followed the figure, whipping straight toward Kenji.
Seeing this, Kenji merely raised his left arm to block, while building up power in his right fist.
Catching this movement, a wide, exaggerated smile split across Yamori’s face.
His speed exploded even further, and he charged at Kenji like a shooting star.
”Overestimating yourself!
Watch me crush you into—gaah!”
Kenji threw a punch, hitting Yamori square in the stomach.
In an instant, a blast of white air exploded outward from Kenji’s fist.
Huge mouthfuls of blood mixed with bits of internal organs sprayed from his mouth, and a loud ringing filled his ears until everything went numb.
It felt as though a speeding heavy truck had tried to flatten a person, only to find out it hadn’t hit a human at all, but Mount Everest instead.
Taking the full force of that single punch, Yamori crashed flat onto the ground, throwing up a huge puddle of blood.
Looking at the red blood and the solid chunks mixed into it on the ground, Yamori’s eyes went wide, filled with absolute disbelief.
But the twisting pain in his stomach and the feeling that his entire body was shattered kept telling him that this was all real.
Buzz, buzz, buzz—
The intense ringing in his ears made it impossible for his brain to think clearly.
He shook his head violently, trying hard to clear his mind, but it was no use.
”My body…
won’t move…”
It felt exactly like a student who usually stays in bed all day suddenly taking a physical test and running a full kilometer in one breath; after finishing, they completely lose control over their limbs.
Looking at Yamori splattered on the ground, Kenji was a bit surprised.
He didn’t expect this punch to fail to pierce right through him.
”Well, well.
You’re pretty tough, actually surviving that.”
Hearing the voice nearby, Yamori’s pupils shrank instantly.
A massive wave of humiliation exploded deep in his heart, and pure fury rushed through his body, taking over his brain.
”Ahhhh!”
Seeing Yamori suddenly screaming and shouting on the ground, a large mass of reddish-brown Kagune erupted from his body, eventually wrapping around his entire right arm and his head.
”A partial Kakuja form?”
Kenji looked at Yamori with a bit of interest, while keeping a careful eye on the other Aogiri Tree executives.
Tatara stood there, staring intently at Kenji, his mindset shifting completely.
At first, he thought Kenji was just an ordinary human, and later he suspected the guy was from the military.
But now, the strength Kenji had shown completely went beyond their imagination.
Is this really a human?
”Who on earth is he?”
”Could he be another monster created by the Washuu clan?”
Kenji’s performance immediately made Tatara think of a certain man in the CCG—a man who was much more of a monster than any actual monster.
”No, the man in front of us is even more terrifying than that guy from the CCG…
He isn’t even using a weapon…”
