Under the cover of night, the surrounding buildings blurred into a rapid succession of afterimages.

With a physical constitution roughly ten times that of a normal human, Kenji was easily capable of moving at such speeds.

In fact, he found it completely effortless.Full novel: Tokyo Ghoul: I, the Heavenly Restriction, Will Tear Tokyo Apart! — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Since my goal is to entirely eradicate the ghouls of this world, my primary objective right now should be gathering intelligence.

I need to figure out the timeline, whether the main plot has started, and exactly which ward I am currently in.

Having made up his mind, Kenji didn’t hesitate.

His silhouette flickered across the rooftops, and before long, he spotted something.

”There really are quite a lot of ghouls in this place.”

A short distance away, in an abandoned construction site, three ghouls were crouched on the ground, actively tearing into and devouring a fresh human corpse.

BOOM!

Kenji dropped heavily from the sky, landing flat on the concrete and kicking up a cloud of dust.

Hearing the commotion, the ghouls tearing at the corpse stopped and raised their heads in confusion.

”One of our own?”

Given the loud, heavy impact Kenji made, they instinctively assumed it was another ghoul joining the fray.

Kenji looked at the creatures in front of him, a flash of pure disdain crossing his eyes.

He rested the blunt edge of [Gilded Cloud] casually over his shoulder, a naturally suffocating pressure radiating from his body.

”One of your own?”

The three ghouls instantly realized something was horribly wrong.

Snapping into combat stances, they violently manifested their Kagune.

”Something’s off about this guy!

Is he from the CCG?!”

Even though Kenji looked entirely human, the sheer pressure rolling off him filled all three ghouls with an overwhelming sense of dread.

Their muscles locked up tightly, faces contorting with anxiety.

Kenji’s eyes swept over the trio, his gaze hardening into shards of ice, though a faint, mocking smirk remained etched on his lips.

The light drizzle continued to fall from the pitch-black sky.

In the distance, the tops of towering skyscrapers blinked with warning red lights, but here in the abandoned lot, the only illumination came from a single, flickering streetlamp.

The dim light washed over Kenji, casting his facial features into deep, sharp shadows.

”One Bikaku, one Ukaku, one Rinkaku.”

Kenji’s voice cut through the rhythmic pattering of the rain.

It was quiet.

Cold.

And dripping with absolute malice.

Swish!

The moment the words left his mouth, Kenji vanished from the spot, leaving nothing but a fading afterimage behind.

The pupils of the three ghouls contracted violently.

Through tight cooperation, this trio had carved out quite a reputation for themselves in District 6.

Although they were merely B-rate ghouls, their frequent consumption of high-quality human flesh had drastically augmented their strength.

When working as a unit, even an A-rate ghoul would think twice before engaging them.

But the man before them was projecting an aura far more terrifying than any A-rate ghoul they had ever encountered!

BANG!

Before they could process the thought, Kenji’s figure materialized directly behind them.

Right on his heels came the blinding flash of a snow-white blade, arcing cleanly toward their necks.

Too fast!

Is this thing even human?!

The exact same thought flashed through their minds simultaneously.

Driven by raw survival instincts, their bodies reacted at the threshold of their limits.

Almost perfectly in unison, their respective Kagune whipped upward to shield their necks while they violently twisted their torsos to retreat.

Pfft-chist!

Three synchronized, wet slicing sounds echoed through the air.

Kenji remained stationary in his follow-through posture, while three writhing, crimson chunks of severed Kagune flew through the rainy sky.

”Decent reflexes,” Kenji remarked indifferently.

The three ghouls stared in utter horror as they realized their prized Kagune had been sliced clean through in a single, casual strike.

Their eyes threatened to pop out of their sockets.

”When did he—?!”

Looking at the traumatized trio, Kenji held his longsword loosely and began walking toward them with slow, measured steps, his voice perfectly calm.

”Now, tell me which district this is.

How much do you know about the Aogiri Tree organization?

And what do you know about the CCG’s upcoming raid on the Anteiku Antique Cafe?

If your answers satisfy me, I might just consider letting you live.”

Hearing this, the three ghouls exchanged a frantic look.

Before they could even shift their weight, Kenji spoke again.

”You have exactly one chance.

If your first instinct is to run, the next thing I take off won’t be your Kagune.”

The threats caused their half-extended legs to freeze involuntarily.

Pulling their feet back, they let out a collective, trembling sigh.

The Bikaku ghoul among them swallowed hard, unable to stop his voice from shaking.

“Does…

does your word hold true?”

Kenji’s expression instantly went dead.

The next second, a massive head went flying into the air.

Splata!

Scalding, dark blood sprayed violently across the faces of the remaining two ghouls.

The blood wasn’t actually that hot, yet it felt as though it were burning their skin to the bone.

For a moment, they couldn’t tell if the agonizing sting was from the fluid itself or the sheer, crushing weight of Kenji’s killing intent.

”Too many useless words.

Now it’s your turn.

Answer the questions.

You only get one shot.”

The remaining two ghouls turned deathly pale.

Terrified of suffering the exact same fate as their companion, they immediately began vomiting every single piece of information they possessed.

”This is District 5, Bunkyo Ward!”

”The Aogiri Tree is the absolute strongest organization among ghouls!

Rumor has it that it’s ruled by the One-Eyed Owl, but they mostly operate deep within District 24!”

”As for the raid on the Anteiku Cafe…

we’ve never heard of it!

If you want to know more, you should go to the neighboring District 6 or District 7.

There are way more ghouls over there, and many are refugees from other wards.

They definitely know more than we do!”

As they uttered the final sentence, the two ghouls subtly exchanged a glance, a fleeting, cold gleam passing through their eyes.

District 6 and District 7 are home to actual monsters!

Even if this human is terrifyingly strong, he’ll be nothing more than a joke in front of those true freaks!

”Can…

can you let us go now?

We’ve told you everything we know,” they asked coordinates-cautiously, watching Kenji sink into contemplation.

Snapping out of his thoughts, Kenji looked down at the two of them and offered a serene, gentle smile.

”No.”

”?!

But you said—!”

Pfft-chist!

Before the words could fully leave their mouths, Kenji’s white blade cleaved through the air.

Two more large heads went spinning into the rainy night, and the headless corpses of the ghouls collapsed to the ground with a dull thud.

Kenji turned and walked away, never once looking back at the mess.

Hearing the system prompts echoing in his mind, Kenji’s thoughts were already dialed into his next strategic move.

So, I’m currently in District 5.

Based on what they said, the main plot hasn’t officially kicked off yet.

That means I still have plenty of time.

If I can rapidly elevate my strength before the CCG initiates the raid on Anteiku, it’ll make navigating the late-game variables significantly easier.

My explicit mandate is to purge every ghoul in this world.

Although the CCG is ultimately puppeted by the Washuu Clan, the organization itself operates as humanity’s official governmental enforcement tool against ghouls.

I can absolutely weaponize and use them to my advantage.

The impending Anteiku raid will naturally draw out multiple powerful ghoul factions.

If I can position myself to sweep them all into a single net when that happens, my overall mission will be halfway complete.

Therefore, my immediate objective is to systematically slaughter high-ranking ghouls and major canon characters to quickly level up my attributes and harvest World Force.

I need to unlock at least 60% of the Heavenly Tyrant’s template before the Anteiku raid begins!

Having finalized his roadmap, Kenji began running through his memories to pinpoint where the major plot figures in the surrounding districts were located.

Thanks to his elevated Spirit attribute, his memory retrieval was remarkably sharp.

It didn’t take long for a specific target to surface.

”District 7.

The Ghoul Restaurant…

Big Madam!”
